  1. Glad to be back on and actually feeling better. Going to try and get some hunting in this week.
  2. Thanks Dave. I have been having a real hard time regulating my blood sugar and it's been a rough couple of months. I finally got my diet and medication some what right. I feel much better and hopefully I can get back into the swing of things. Felt good getting that coyote yesterday.
  3. It has pretty much been like this, they just tried to clarify it. The old regs were so confusing it was misleading some people. I do have to say that the new regs aren't much better.
  4. Unless we all get out voice our opinion I don't see any changes soon. Not using center fire during archery season has never really slowed me down. I just pull my shotgun or rim fire out and hit the woods. I do like how we are able to use T shot year round now, heck that's a good step in the right direction. I do however wish us law biding hunters wouldn't get punished because some idiot decided to shoot a deer illegally. Besides I have heard people talking about poaching and almost every time it's with a 22 mag, 17HMR or some small caliber rifle. Sorry I'm a little late on the conversation but haven't been on much due to health reasons and work.
  5. I didn't really realize how stupid my shoes looked until I seen the photo lol. I should have stayed with the crocs.
  6. I used to use an AR but I love my bolt guns.
  7. I finally got some time to actually hunt. My uncle has been losing chickens and a lot of them. He has lost 10 or 11 in the past 2 weeks or so. He is tired of keeping them in the pen. He has personally seen 3 of the chickens get taken by coyotes throughout the weeks. Since I was headed to Perry County anyways I decided to bring all my coyote gear with me. After spending some time with family, I drove over to his house to do some calling. I set up in a field behind his house were he has been seeing them the most. I pulled out my TC coyote reed made a few howls and went right into my DSG cottontail distress on my fox pro. It played through 2 sequences and out came this young male. He ran right up to my caller and 50 or so yards later he layed within 2 feet of it. My total set up to the shot was less than 8 minutes. I called for a little longer but had no more takers. Equipment used: Howa M1500 Ranchland 243 Catridge: Hornady Superformance 58 grain V Max Calls: TC coyote pup diaphragms and Fox Pro Wildfire Sounds played: Young coyote pup howl, DSG cottontail and Coyote pup distress Stands made: 1 Coyotes seen:1 and 1 shot Oh and don't mind my blue tennis shoes. I forgot my boots at home. At least I didn't wear my crocs lol. Thats also my dog Jack in the picture. He tries to re-kill the animals I bring to show him.
  8. 99% of the time I use my ultra light rig when I wade the creeks.
  9. Not sure on the salt water reel but Shimano reels are awesome. I have had the same reel now for 15 or so years and it still works great. If they make an ugly stick for salt water you may look into one of them. They are pretty tough rods and cost less than most.
  10. I fish the Greenway off of Medical Center Parkway. Walk down to the dam and fish below it. I use Zoom speed craws and spinners. I cast right at the dam just below were the water comes around it. I usually let the current take it then work the lure back to you. I have caught several really nice bass there and crappie.
  11. This time of year try using pup howls and pup whines along with the distress sounds. I have been really busy with work and summer vacations but I plan on hitting the woods in the next week or so. With the tempetures being really hot they will be more protective of water and food supplies.
  12. Howler has some very good points. If you have a creek bed look there. Coyotes love to travel down fence rows as they will urinate on fence posts to mark their territories (I actually watched a coyote do this as he was coming into my call). I like to setup near isolated thick cover, coyotes will bed in these areas. Right know coyotes are in dens as most have pups. Remember coyotes don't den year round, only during breeding season. Howler pointed out about maybe seeing pups and I would have to agree with him. Pups are stupid and have not yet experinced real fear from humans. Most pups will be out and on their own by late August.
  13. Remember buckshot is not legal.
  14. As far as shotgun ammo, I use Winchester #6 high velocity. I can get a great pattern and knock down power at 40 yards. I have had no problems with it. Other ammo I use is T shot. It can be expensive though. I use a kicks choke. I have used the Carlson choke and it is just o.k in my opinion. I use a 243 shooting hornady 58 grain vmax. Any of your rifles will be plenty enough to kill it dead 3 times over. Just make sure you obey the laws if hunting them. Also just because he seen a coyote doesnt mean the coyotes are killing the chickens. 1 racoon can cause a lot of damage to.
  15. I use shorts and tennis shoes during the summer.
  16. I thought about getting back into archery. Kinda miss it.
  17. Love Ted!!! Guess I need to find the magazine.
  18. My daughter shoots a bow and she loves it.
  19. Hope everyone had a great season.
  20. I told him to be very thankful for that big tom.
  21. It was awesome seeing the look on his face once the trigger was pulled.
  22. I'm just happy for my friend Kevin getting his first turkey.
