Went coyote hunting this morning and called in 2 but was only able to get one, which turned out to be the female. I was using my trusty cottontail distress hand call and decoy. I made three series on the hand call and they came charging in. Total call time was probably 7 minutes or so. I got her hung up in this pic so I could skin her out. I have a few more but they are graphic with guts hanging out. I have a 835 and a friend of mine has a Mossberg 835 Turkey thug edition. It has a 20 inch barrel. He killed his first turkey with it last year at 44 steps.

I have had good luck with Haydel's hand calls. I use the cottontail distress. I also own a Foxpro Wildfire electronic game call. I have called up several this year but just haven't connected yet. This has not been my year yet lol. The best piece of advise I can give you is keep calling. Eastern Coyotes can be tough at times. Don't get discouraged if you make 15 stands and not get one. Like I said just keep calling and it will happen. I live for predator hunting, It's challenging and exciting. If you need a specific answer just ask.

If we are getting away from tags wonder if they will lower the cost on license since they would save on getting them printed and such.

I pattern mine out to 50 yards. Most people won't shoot that far but I have confidence I can make that shot and get a clean kill. I do prefer them to be a bit closer. After all calling in a bird really close and listening to him drum makes me a happy hunter.

Those nooses do look like they would carry small animals.
