Unidens and Radio Shack are all I own. Great scanners. On the Pro 163 in the living room I have 35 feet of LMR 400 coax ran from my antena. That gives me only about a 1 to 1.5 db loss in the 400 mhz band which is where most of your public services operate. I live near Columbia and monitor Nashville Intl Airport sometimes from the tower. Takeoff and approach. It's neat what you can hear if you get into it.

And the bedroom... lol

Most all modern recievers are trunking capable even the cheaper ones. I have 4 base scanners and 2 handhelds. I have a 26' "tower" out side with my antena. My main radio that stays on all the time is a Radio Shack Pro-163. It has frequency tagging and is a decent reciever. I live in Columbia and the only agency that is digital now is Columbia PD which I have no interest in monitoring. I monitor Maury Rural fire and MCSO. I can listen to just about anything. When I am bored I scan the GMRS bands and listen for any traffic because I live just a couple hundred yards from I-65. When I hear some chatter I will turn on my handheld and talk to them and leave them wondering where I came from. I have listened to the space station before and many other cool things. Life Flight 4 services my area and it is interesting to listen to them talk to the hospital with an assessment of their patient. Here's a pic of my main one in the living room I leaned over and snapped.

I would like to see a 2nd Forrest Gump that follows his son through the events of the 80's and 90's. -
When any of you get on a repeater in Southern Middle TN let me know and which frequency. I'm not a ham operator so I can't key up but I can monitor.

I occasionally talk skip in the 27 mhz band. I may have a few things that I can't mention here. I have talked to several states over the years. There is a guy the goes by "Motor Mouth Maul" in Cali I've talked to several times. You can find him on youtube. Me, I'm 509 waving the hand and reading the mail.

I absolutely love it. I am an android guy using a Note 2 and I rarely have a problem. I've maybe logged on to the real url on a computer 5 times since 2011. It is the best (I think $5) money I've spent. David does a good job so it will run on Tapatalk.

Most of us, I believe are using Tapatalk.

I haven't had any experience with them yet but I follow them on Facebook and they do a lot of giveaways and seem ambitious. Many calibers in their line up.

Got to teach some kids about guns today
glowdotGlock replied to glowdotGlock's topic in General Chat
They were really getting into it and absorbing all the info I was giving them. They even repeated back to me and showed me how the gas system worked in the AR. We talked about pistol cartridges, FMJ vs HP and how hydraulic pressure opens the hp. I was really impressed. Thay have been around guns their while life but just had never been taught about the inards. I think I may give their dad one of my bricks of .22 for them to shoot. -
I just now realized that haha. It's hard to see on tapatalk.

This is about the only pic I could find of me on my phone. I think it was my avatar for a little bit. The one below is my beautiful lady and I. Edit: just noticed and I guess it still is my avatar. Can't hardly see it on tapatalk.

I wouldn't say that lol. You are an engineer right?

I would like to meet David too. I'd like to take a ride in that Raptor if he still has it. And that 500 hp jeep.

I live on a little country road where we know everyone. There are a few neighborhood kids that ride bikes that live right across the road. My parents live next door and my 20 year old sister is home from college this weekend and thay tend to hang around a little more when she is home.... weird lol. One boy is around 13 and the other is 15 and their father owns guns and they have shot his before and they turkey hunt as well. Well I was out in the yard running a few cheap rounds of birdshot through my ol' Wingmaster when they came over on their bikes. I let them both shoot it. They told me about the 870 their father bought them. Anyway, they started asking different questions about types of guns and so on. So after a chat we went back over to my house and I got one of each out to show them. Shotgun, AR, AK, bolt rifle and a couple Glocks. I was explaining how each one worked and they were eating it up. They were asking some really good questions like how the AR cycles and the differences in shot sizes and so on. So eventually we ended up at the kitchen table with a small dry erase board and a marker. I would crudely draw it out on the board and then we would take each gun apart and I woukd show them which piece does what. They really learned something today and it made me feel good to teach them and them take it seriously. Those are some good kids. Gave me hope yet for the next generation.

I don't know what most of you look like and have probably unknowingly ran into a couple of you at one point. I have seen pics of Gordon when he cut his finger. I guess I would have to say Dolomite and Spots. I would like to sit down and pick Dolomite's brain for a while over a beer and then go play in the shop and forge something with Spots. It's pretty neat how you get to know so much about everyone over a few years. And I haven't even been here as long as most of you (2011). Hell, I wanna meet all of ya.

Looks good. Keep us posted on how it holds up. I may have to be a copy cat.

I like this.^^

This is what gets me. I have known more than one person to carry a new gun right out of the box. I never add a new family member to the carry rotation without at least 200 rounds through it. I just purchased a Shield 9 and am at about 450 with it and it has fed everything I have given it. I even offered (more like demanded) to take the guys gun out and run at least a box through it to ensure it ran smooth and cleaned it for him. He let me and offered to pay for the ammo but I declined. I think it was a Taurus "Millinium"

I've been in Illinois today. Woke up to -7°. I'm back in TN now to a toasty 5° says the dash in my Pete. I am going to take a nap on the Goodlettsville exit in front of the big grocery warehouse. Stay warm. -
I have had everything from a 125cc 2 stroke to a 650 4 stroke. And for the woods and trails you definitely benefit from the 4 stroke. I haven't rode in a few years and don't even own one anymore but my last bike was a Honda XR 400 and it was a great trail bike. 2 strokes are fun, fast and light but are a little more maintenance. I've always said real motors have valves.

I'm not too fond of them but they aren't bad. I haven't done much out past 10 yards or so. I've ran several boxes of cheap Federal 7.5 bird shot just to play around and some 00 to dispose of some old pumpkins. And the occasional skunk and possum. I've not shot any slugs with it.

This is my 1979 20" Wingmaster that pulled duty in a patrol car for years. It is beat to hell but runs smooth. It pulls double duty at my house for HD and is my "throw in the Jeep gun" for when I go out wheeling and camping. I hope to get it coated in OD green soon.

This is my guess.
