Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) was the clear favorite among conservative activists to be Mitt Romney’s running mate in the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) vice presidential straw poll Friday. Rubio topped the list of potential contenders with 30 percent of the vote at the one-day Chicago event, more than double his nearest competitor. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie came in second with 14 percent, followed by while Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) with 9 percent and Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) with 8 percent of the crowd. Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal placed fifth. Rubio’s straw poll win was nearly identical to the conference poll in February, when he was also the top choice among CPAC-goers in Washington, D.C. The poll results have no bearing on who Romney will ultimately tap, but are a clear indication of what conservatives would like to see. Rubio has repeatedly denied having any interest in accepting the No. 2 spot. http://www.theblaze.com/stories/sen-marco-rubio-wins-cpac-vice-presidential-straw-poll/

Just so everyone knows- Rand Paul endorses Romney
kieefer replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Paul seldom seems clear to me on the details when confronted with a difficult question. As in this from Newsmax 12/2011; Texas Rep. Ron Paul said Thursday he has “no intention†of running for president as a third-party candidate if he does not get the Republican presidential nomination. When pressed, however, he shied away from saying his decision was “absolute,†although he clarified he “cannot conceive of it.†“I'll give the same answer I’ve given about 39 times now — that I have no intention of doing that,†Paul told Fox News’ Sean Hannity immediately after Thursday night's debate, the last before the Jan. 3 Iowa caucuses. “I plan to do my very best and see what happens in the next two months.†Hannity noted that when Paul says he has “no intention" he was, in fact, leaving the door open to the possibility of a third-party run, and asked the presidential hopeful if that was indeed the case. “I don’t like absolutes — I don’t like to say: ‘I absolutely will never do such and such’ — so I am just avoiding the absolute,†Paul said. Hannity noted that if Paul ran as a third-party candidate, he would “probably siphon off†some of the anti-Obama vote. “But wouldn’t it be fair to ask the moderate Republicans that are competing — to ask the same question?†Paul said. Hannity again pressed Paul on the fact that “no intention†means the door remains open and asked if it was “a little.†“I cannot conceive of it,†Paul said. “I have absolutely no thoughts or plans of doing it.†Read more on Newsmax.com: Ron Paul: I 'Cannot Conceive' of Third-Party Run It really showed in the debates, some good ideas but getting the details out of him, appears to me to stress him out. Who knows what he's going to do but having his own son endorse Romney is a stab in the back UNLESS Ron gave his permission. I suspect Rand knows exactly what his Dad is doing and realizes that he's not going to win, to improve his status with the party he came out with this news. -

If only Ron would give it up so those folks might be able to move on with their lives. My guess is that RP will remain silent and lead his followers off the cliff. BTW, I don't think anyone on the right hates Ron Paul. Most of the hatred I've seen only comes from the left. . -

THEY STOLE THE ELECTION IN WI. Claiming the results "emboldened the right-wing", the MSNBC host told radio listeners it was a mere trial run for widespread vote theft designed to steal November's presidential election outright. http://radioequalizer.blogspot.com/2012/06/al-sharpton-gop-fraud-stole-wisconsin.html

I'm glad they're being exposed, they don't appear to be holding back anymore. Too bad the MSM won't report it, spread the word I say. We are lucky to have folks like Ed Shultz, Howard Dean and that nutty D. Wasaman just to name a few that act like fools in front of a camera.

Scott Walker winning yesterday sure made me feel better about Nov.. Not to mention that all the liberals had hissie fits when it was called. Hope we can maintain the momentum.

That native indian heritage of hers is sure to win votes. Go Gov. Walker

Mark Levin, oh yea! but even less likely than Col. West. Mitt will probably pick a moderate but when those letters come in for Romney donations I'll scribble on them ALLEN WEST FOR VP and send him a postage stamp. Until his VP pick, I'm not sending any checks. Might not then if goes for a RINO. Might not anyway, hate to waste the dollars on him since it's looking like he's going to stomp this idiot. Even some liberals are pissed at him. What about Rand Paul? This could please the RP supporters since Romney's stealing the election away from his daddy?

The latest; http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/06/01/us-usa-campaign-romney-vp-idUSBRE85018O20120601 Romney's list is a closely guarded secret, but speculation has centered on a host of Republican leaders including Ohio Senator Rob Portman, Florida Senator Marco Rubio and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie. Romney could try to appeal to Hispanics, for example, by picking the Cuban-American Rubio, or he could try to improve his chances in the swing state of Ohio by choosing Portman. Many other names offer similar scenarios. Romney's campaign says his main qualifications are for someone who could take over as president should anything happen to him, and someone with whom he has a high level of comfort.

Very nice

I didn't heard many talking heads discussing Portman today, maybe I missed it or it's not news compared to Obozo insulting the Pol's, and Romney pointing out our tax dollars wasted on Solyndra's bankruptcy.

DITTO here too. Sarah is a breath of fresh air for the conservative movement. I hope but doubt that Romney would use her in his administration..

Romney wins Texas and Ron Paul loses his own district. Will he get the message?? I doubt it. State Wide Romney - 493,429 RP - 71,127 Paul's district Romney - 18,826 RP - 4,577 There were also 5 propositions on the ballot, all won on the side of conservatism/liberty http://enr.sos.state.tx.us/enr/results/may29_160_state.htm?x=0&y=32272&id=471

Nope, he failed to take his own district. http://enr.sos.state.tx.us/enr/results/may29_160_state.htm?x=0&y=33552&id=488

Rice is too liberal IMO. A strong conservative VP pick sure would help the cause. Portman may be alright? Let the vetting begin and we'll see. Personally, Allen West would be my pick.
-
Never heard of this guy but that don't mean anything. I'm sure the MSM is searching his background now to come up with some type of slanderous allegations. +1 on Pelosi's pet bitch, he needs to go bad and we need the gain the Senate.
-
Right now Romoney is flipping the bird and sweeping the primary in Texas and stomping Mr. Paul.

http://pjmedia.com/tatler/2012/05/29/senator-rob-portman-will-be-romneys-vp-according-to-gop-insiders/?singlepage=true Senator Rob Portman of Ohio, the possible pick?

It might have surfraced from the DemocraticUnderground, sometimes they get tired of arguing with each other.

I'll bet a RP supporter sent geronimo our way
