Constitutional Amendment Convention Gaining Momentum
gun sane replied to gun sane's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
With all due respect, there's a lot more at stake than anyone's gluteus maximus. Millions of Americans have--and are--putting a lot more than that on the line. I'm no political analyst, but I'm pretty confident that these liberal socialists didn't get to where they are today with a defeatist attitude. Just what country do you think is going to have pity and send us some backbone? Who's going to do something about it if the people who have the most to lose don't step up and take some risk with the constitutional provisions we have? If we don't have strong leaders, we damn well better go find some. Or do we want to be known as the nation who lost every freedom they have because of free phones and a welfare check? -
Constitutional Amendment Convention Gaining Momentum

Judging by the pictures I've seen of the Mt. Vernon assembly, none of the delegates was wearing a wet blanket. -
Constitutional Amendment Convention Gaining Momentum

"We've never done it this way before" or "what'll we do if it gets out of hand" arguments will get us to the same place as expecting the Republicans to turn out for elections. I'd rather go with whatever constitutional means we have for changing this tyrannical bastardization of our country before we're forced to have Lexington/Concord rallies. But this quote from The Foundry article offers a ray of sunshine: If we can't throw the rascals out, making them uncomfortable is the next best thing. -
What began as a book by Mark Levin, pointing to a provision for constitutional change in Article V, looks like it's growing some legs. It's a hope and change movement that I hope will change the last hope and change movement. http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/12/09/gaining-steam-nearly-100-lawmakers-descend-on-mount-vernon-to-talk-convention-of-states/

Just found this.....a chilling reminder of what can happen when we put our guard down, as we have seen in our own lifetime. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_f9A3fwn6w

My father-in-law was in an engine room of the USS Tennessee that morning trying desperately to get up a head of steam, just in case it was decided to make a desperate attempt to get underway. By the time the attack was over his hands were covered in his own blood, ripped with many cuts from tiny shards of metal sticking out from the steam valves. He had worked so frantically that he didn't even notice his injuries until the attack was over. He survived until after the 50th anniversary of that day. I'm so glad that there were millions of men like him back then. We need so many more of them today.

Times like this I thank God that my wife and I are childless. But she was late coming home tonight and I was getting more than uneasy. I can't imagine the hell you went through TDR, but I rejoice with you that she's safe and back in your care. The waterboarding pic is a real kneeslapper. I'm also reminded of this scene from Clueless: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZjQFj0vUrY

Estate Auction you may be interested in
gun sane replied to Volzfan's topic in Events and Gatherings
I've attended only one gun auction in my life and came away with a good deal. The McMinn County Sheriff had confiscated firearms he wanted to get rid of to boost his budget. Bear in mind you'll also have to tack on a buyer's premium to your bid for the walkout price. I picked up a Ruger Blackhawk for $280. It wasn't the prettiest gun on the table and needed some tightening and new grips, but it's extremely accurate with the right handload. -
Regarding Doe Run smelting plant closure, an idea.
gun sane replied to Steelharp's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I'm for it, but only because it would keep a company open that provides jobs. The bullet companies use lead from secondary sources, such as scrapped batteries. Doe Run processes primary lead not used by the ammo industry. http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2013/12/chris-dumm/nssf-sierra-atk-worried-lead-smelter-closure/ -

I'm in for term limits on Congress, too. Even as wise as the founding fathers were, they didn't forsee a voter demographic as stupidly disengaged as the one we have now.

I've got the "monkey gun" in .40 cal with an ATI stock. So far it eats anything I feed it, even with a 15-round Pro Mag. I've worked up a pretty good cast bullet load to cut the cost even more. HP recommends a takedown every 1500-2000 rounds--not even my old Marlin Camp 9 could go that distance without a deep clean. I'm a little antsy about mounting a cheap red dot. I had one that eventually shattered its glass with the Camp 9's recoil. I suppose I could put a good one on and double the monkey gun's value. :pleased:

I'm okay with the Bull's guns--I even own a couple--but I think Taurus missed the boat here, if not for the simple reason that their offering is little more than an economy Hi-Point carbine in capacity and performance. I don't knock the pistol-rifle caliber combos. They make a perfect looter/meth head repellant since you don't need 30 pops to make them change their minds. I've got the HP .40 for the aforementioned purpose, and it fills the need for a short-range deer getter with more pep than the 9mm.

They've Gone From Lying to Extortion
gun sane replied to gun sane's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Notice how cleverly they say that property taxes haven't been raised to repair schools. We've gotten sticker shock every time we've opened the annual notice from the county appraiser since we moved here ten years ago. I'd love to sell our house for the amount they say it's worth.and live in a houseboat or trailer someplace where no one can find us. The wife and I are childless so we put no burden on the school system at all, yet we pay the same as a couple with five kids in the indoctrination camps that they call public schools. -
The sinister methods the federal government uses to turn our pockets inside out has trickled down to municipalities as well. I just got a propaganda flier in the mail saying if we don't vote to raise Maryville local sales tax a half cent, we'll get a 32-cent bump in property tax. Here's their pitch: So how do they explain the construction of multimillion-dollar schools in the area if they can't find the money to fix the ones we have? I remember going to class in double-wide trailers when the school got too small or the roof leaked. Kid's needs have radically changed in the last 60 years, I suppose. But we weren't taught by Stalin-loving Common Core geniuses, either. And is their promise of no property tax increase as good as Obama's pledge that we can keep our heathcare plan? They go on to say that they want to beef up security in the schools "because recent events in other communities have reminded us of the need to make our school facilities safer for students and teachers." So we also need to pony up because of the tragic consequences pampered nutjobs have inflicted upon leftist-run schools which teach that a drawing or even a hand gesture of evil guns will warp a child for life. Note to the Maryville City Council: Our town ain't Sandy Hook. Kids here learn to shoot and hunt before they even know the difference of what's between the legs of boys and girls. Thanks for letting me vent.....and if anyone's curious, I'm voting no.

You don't need no stinkin' NSA.....if the one you're interested in uses Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or other shared info clearing houses. Watch what happens when people are told personal details of their lives by a total stranger. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5P_0s1TYpJU

Maryville's Mayor is anti-2nd Amendment
gun sane replied to TNinfidel's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
It'll take awhile. The city council members who picked the mayor are on a staggered election cycle. The MAIG controversy may peter out before Taylor's held accountable. -
A judge has thrown out the lawsuit filed against the ATF by the family of Brian Terry, who was murdered as a direct result of Operation Fast and Furious. The reason? They've already received compensation out of a fund for federal employees killed in the line of duty and a workman's comp payout. http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2013/11/15/Obama-Admin-Catches-Terry-Family-On-Technicality-Lawsuit-For-Slain-Border-Agent-Thrown-Out The family has said they would appeal. Meanwhile, calls for Atty General Eric Holder's impeachment is gathering steam. http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2013/11/13/Congressman-Pete-Olson-introduces-Articles-of-Impeachment-against-Eric-Holder

I'm not a lawyer but I have argued with a few cops in my day. I would say a BP revolver is not a breechloader since it's loaded on the opposite end of the primer cap. In essence, the cylinder is a barrel.

Just as a reminder (or maybe for some an announcement) John Stossel is doing a piece tonight on the Fox News Channel about how the government burdens us with stupid regs, like applying for a gun permit in New York City. Might be worth a watch. 9 pm EST. http://video.foxnews.com/v/2842780332001/stossel-special-war-on-the-little-guy-sat-on-fnc/
