  1.   I didn't realize that.  I don't watch MSNBC.
  2.   I doubt we're talking about the same person.  The one who penned The Liberty Amendments is Mark R. Levin.  He is one of the champions of the Tea Party who advised Ronald Reagan's cabinet and has a popular radio program.  Sean Hannity calls Levin, "the Great One."    Perhaps you're pointing to radio host  Mark Levine, who served as a legislative counsel to Barney Frank and often appears on Fox News to make a fool of himself.  Rush Limbaugh has called Levine, "a glittering jewel of colossal ignorance."
  3.   In the first chapter of his book, The Liberty Amendments, Mark Levin addresses this unsettling phraseology:     What Hamilton are saying is that since the state alternative is written into Article V, Congress, as a formality, must grant this convention whether they like it or not.  This and other objections to what we've been discussing here are answered quite specifically and clearly by Levin.  I join with 6.8 AR in urging you to read this book before making your mind up about this convention process.
  4. Our "stunned" senator put Ryan Loskarn on unpaid leave of absence, a signal that his days are numbered.   http://www.nationaljournal.com/congress/sen-lamar-alexander-s-chief-of-staff-put-on-leave-following-allegations-involving-child-pornography-20131211
  5. Can't make it Saturday, but maybe Sunday.  Love me some Expo Center hot dogs!  :yum:
  6. There's more in the Constitution for individual and states' rights than there are for the feds.  Much of the authority that's been usurped by the federal government has been done under the "peace and safety" banner, but we've given them an inch and they've taken a mile.  We've seen several new law enforcement agencies created under Homeland Security which was originally the states' responsibility.  The EPA was started because nobody wanted dirty air or water.  Now industry is hamstrung by thousands of EPA laws with climate change junk science opening a new front against profitability.   Don't forget that colonies--states if you will--came before the United States.  It was they that created the federal government, not the reverse.  That's why Article V is written the way it is.  The framers granted Congress the authority to make amendments but also extended equal authority to the states, just in case Congress got too big for its britches.  And even the congressional amendment process requires 3/4 states' approval.  The primary foundation of government is the people and the states, according to the original design.  That's what this convention business is all about.  If the federal government ignores new amendments created by the convention and ratified by the states...well, that's what the second amendment is all about.
  7.   Good idea.  Everybody should pick a place to dig their foxhole.
  8. What, no free mag?
  9.   With all due respect, there's a lot more at stake than anyone's gluteus maximus.  Millions of Americans have--and are--putting a lot more than that on the line.  I'm no political analyst, but I'm pretty confident that these liberal socialists didn't get to where they are today with a defeatist attitude.  Just what country do you think is going to have pity and send us some backbone?  Who's going to do something about it if the people who have the most to lose don't step up and take some risk with the constitutional provisions we have?  If we don't have strong leaders, we damn well better go find some.  Or do we want to be known as the nation who lost every freedom they have because of free phones and a welfare check?
  10. Judging by the pictures I've seen of the Mt. Vernon assembly, none of the delegates was wearing a wet blanket.
  11. "We've never done it this way before" or "what'll we do if it gets out of hand" arguments will get us to the same place as expecting the Republicans to turn out for elections.  I'd rather go with whatever constitutional means we have for changing this tyrannical bastardization of our country before we're forced to have Lexington/Concord rallies.  But this quote from The Foundry article offers a ray of sunshine:     If we can't throw the rascals out, making them uncomfortable is the next best thing.
  12. What began as a book by Mark Levin, pointing to a provision for constitutional change in Article V, looks like it's growing some legs. It's a hope and change movement that I hope will change the last hope and change movement.   http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/12/09/gaining-steam-nearly-100-lawmakers-descend-on-mount-vernon-to-talk-convention-of-states/
  13. When you wished you could gamble as good as Maverick, dress as good as Paladin, hunt BGs as good as Josh Randall and would give anything to take Miss Kitty upstairs.
  14. When the corner grocer "put it on your bill."
  15. Here's a typical "Sing Along With Mandela" gathering:   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NKiePbTcAfY
  16. Just found this.....a chilling reminder of what can happen when we put our guard down, as we have seen in our own lifetime. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_f9A3fwn6w
  17. My father-in-law was in an engine room of the USS Tennessee that morning trying desperately to get up a head of steam, just in case it was decided to make a desperate attempt to get underway.  By the time the attack was over his hands were covered in his own blood, ripped with many cuts from tiny shards of metal sticking out from the steam valves.  He had worked so frantically that he didn't even notice his injuries until the attack was over.  He survived until after the 50th anniversary of that day.  I'm so glad that there were millions of men like him back then.  We need so many more of them today.
  18. Times like this I thank God that my wife and I are childless.  But she was late coming home tonight and I was getting more than uneasy.  I can't imagine the hell you went through TDR, but I rejoice with you that she's safe and back in your care.   The waterboarding pic is a real kneeslapper.  I'm also reminded of this scene from Clueless:   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZjQFj0vUrY
  19. I've attended only one gun auction in my life and came away with a good deal.  The McMinn County Sheriff had confiscated firearms he wanted to get rid of to boost his budget.  Bear in mind you'll also have to tack on a buyer's premium to your bid for the walkout price.  I picked up a Ruger Blackhawk for $280.  It wasn't the prettiest gun on the table and needed some tightening and new grips, but it's extremely accurate with the right handload.
  20. I'm for it, but only because it would keep a company open that provides jobs.  The bullet companies use lead from secondary sources, such as scrapped batteries.  Doe Run processes primary lead not used by the ammo industry.    http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2013/12/chris-dumm/nssf-sierra-atk-worried-lead-smelter-closure/
  21. Well, this certainly spoils the surprise.....   http://www.mediaite.com/tv/expert-testifies-to-congress-that-obamas-ignoring-laws-could-lead-to-overthrow-of-government/
  22. This story pegged out my Dang-O-Meter!   http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/12/02/watch-the-incredible-moment-divers-inspecting-capsized-ship-find-man-alive-after-nearly-3-days/
  23. I'm in for term limits on Congress, too.  Even as wise as the founding fathers were, they didn't forsee a voter demographic as stupidly disengaged as the one we have now.
  24. I've got the "monkey gun" in .40 cal with an ATI stock.  So far it eats anything I feed it, even with a 15-round Pro Mag.  I've worked up a pretty good cast bullet load to cut the cost even more.  HP recommends a takedown every 1500-2000 rounds--not even my old Marlin Camp 9 could go that distance without a deep clean.  I'm a little antsy about mounting a cheap red dot.  I had one that eventually shattered its glass with the Camp 9's recoil.  I suppose I could put a good one on and double the monkey gun's value.  :pleased:
  25. I'm okay with the Bull's guns--I even own a couple--but I think Taurus missed the boat here, if not for the simple reason that their offering is little more than an economy Hi-Point carbine in capacity and performance.  I don't knock the pistol-rifle caliber combos.  They make a perfect looter/meth head repellant since you don't need 30 pops to make them change their minds.  I've got the HP .40 for the aforementioned purpose, and it fills the need for a short-range deer getter with more pep than the 9mm.
