M855/SS109 5.56 Ban!!! AKA Green Tip
gun sane replied to mcordell's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Here's some hope.......I hope. http://www.shallnot.org/tennessee_bills_would_block_federal_gun_control -
You don't have to maintain 1.1" for an OAL, but keep in mind that your pressures will increase if you go shorter and decrease if you go longer. I usually leave myself some wiggle room with a longer OAL in case a miss-crimped bullet gets pushed in during the cycling process.

I won't speak against buying in bulk, but the 100' lengths at Walmart are satisfactory. I used some of it to tie a tree that was growing crooked and four months later in all kinds of weather, it's still holding.

Thanks for the ammo, Dolomite. I'm posting it to another board.

Shooting in enclosed spaces and hearing damage.
gun sane replied to suspiciousmind's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Every man has a wife filter built into the auditory system that's activated by the ingestion of wedding cake, followed by champagne. For Appalachian men, beer or shine is the catalyst. Gunfire has been known to cause the wife filter to clog up, resulting in significant hearing loss for casual marital conversation. It's further aggravated by the blow of a frying pan or other heavy object to the head. -
Metro Nashville Public Schools is eliminating Algebra and Geometry.

All I remember from algebra is that x =1, but I can still dissect a frog. You'd be surprised how far that bit of knowledge has taken me. :pleased: -

Shopper tackles man with gun at Wal-Mart

Too bad the vigilante got a felony battery rap. That's gonna make it lots harder to get a carry permit. :taunt: -
What appears to be a harmless plastic toy is really a 12 GA Mossberg confiscated during an arrest by a sharp-eyed Indianapolis LEO. It's something to keep in mind when you hear stories about excessive use of force by police against innocent teens holding water guns. They raided a man's home in the early morning hours. The chief took three to the chest and one in the arm. Fortunately, a vest saved him. The homeowner, whom the press quickly described as a gun enthusiast and survivalist, has not been charged. http://newsok.com/questions-remain-after-sentinel-police-chief-is-shot-detained-man-is-released/article/5384876

Video of a Break-In and Shoot Down
gun sane replied to gun sane's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I hate that when it happens. -
Everything was done that should be done. The door was bolted and safety chained, the police were called and a warning was given. That didn't deter a machete-armed loon from attacking a couple armed with a 9mm. The screen goes blank as the shots ring out and the creep hits the floor. Then comes some agonizing minutes of the assailant's painful wails and tension relieving cries from the man who was forced to shoot. I'm thankful I could see it and hear it.....but not live it. http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2015/01/19/man-relives-bone-chilling-moment-when-a-neighbor-kicked-through-his-door-and-came-at-him-with-a-machete-it-was-like-the-shining/

HS Girls' Basketball Coach Suspended After 161-2 Victory
gun sane replied to gun sane's topic in General Chat
Unfortunately, this has been the mentality of our presidents and military commanders since WW2. We can't go in and utterly rout the enemy; that would be too barbarian. We now go to war to end them, not win them, while the enemy just waits us out. I know it's apples and oranges in comparison to a basketball game, but the principle's the same. You don't compete unless you're willing to go 100%. -
They should have benched the coach for allowing the other wuss team two points. http://www.foxnews.com/sports/2015/01/16/california-girls-high-school-basketball-coach-suspended-after-161-2-victory/?intcmp=latestnews

Queenie Moochelle will veto the plan. She has decreed that the kids have fresh produce. And there's no way the school will allow potato guns.

Dang, I forgot to send him a gift.

Another good reason why women should carry on their body, not in their bag. Of course, MSN couldn't help but say it occurred in a "politically conservative" town.

From about the fall of '67 to the spring of '69, I was a snipe stationed in Ranger's No. 2 Auxillary Room turning sea water into fresh. When I transferred to No. 4 Main Machinery Room to drive one the ship's propellers, everything from the boilers to the sailors had plenty of good water to use. Did you late '80s guys spend too much time in the showers? :grouchy: But thanks for keeping 'em in the air, Buck.....Top Gun, bar none.
