(AP) — The world's first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier has been retired from active service in the U.S. Navy. The USS Enterprise ended its notable 51-year career on Saturday during a ceremony at Naval Station Norfolk in Virginia. Thousands of former crew members, ship builders and their families lined a pier to bid farewell to one of the most decorated ships in the Navy. The ship served in every major conflict since participating in a blockade during the Cuban Missile Crisis. With the inactivation, the U.S. fleet is temporarily reduced to 10 aircraft carriers while the USS Gerald R.
it does but teflon should not harm the wood.
it was for the bolt not the wood but here's what was said
Just saw your post on using remoil! If that is the Remington stuff, do not use this on the bolt! It has Teflon in it and it can cause a build-up inside your bolt. I used it in good faith and it helped build up residue in my sks-bolt, where I really NOT needed it. If you want to oil your weapon, as JYD says all the time, use engine oil....it is cheaper and works the same....... Good Night, y'all........this gunner goes horizontal.

Don't know about that, could be true. My thought process was a bit different, I didn't leave a lot of lube inside as oils tend to attract and hold grime and powder and gunk. I just cleaned it real well, sprayed my favorite CLP product and wiped off the excess then reassembled. Have you had a chance to shoot it yet? Now that its cleaned up a bit I'd run 10-20 rounds through it and see how it performs. That will let you know how clean the chamber is as well as if you even want to go through the headache of trying to clean the barrel out. IMO if its a shooter and accurate, I wouldn't sweat it beyond cleaning enough that the patches just come out black instead of green. Be sure to take some windex to the range and spray it down the chamber and barrel if shooting corrosive ammo. Clean it as normal when you get home.
i have not yet bought any ammo, so i have not yet had the chance to shoot it, i did clean spray each part separately and then wiped the excess with some patches and q-tips

ive been wanting to stop there myself but havent found the time and i agree i wish there was something closer to donelson aswell or even in donelson
If you haven't already make sure to strip that good looking bolt. All kinds of nastiness might be built up inside. It's not hard to do and there should be a walk through on YouTube. Well worth the time IMO.
did and got it nice and shiny though someone on another forum said i shouldnt have used remoil as it has teflon or something in it

i got most of it out of all the metal bits, the bolt looks awesome, but there is some spots i cant get and i cant get the stock cleaned just yet due to not knowing the best way without ruining the stock and i def dont want to refinish it so more research for me
That unit comes in 2 versions, with & without ozone, also it should be off when the blower motor is. There is no adjustment on it, it's full on or off.
there was nothing running when I took that pic unless those indoor units have become extremely silent since my grandparents got theirs back in the 90's
Looking good. Pay particular attention to the chamber, all kinds of gunk gets in there and if not removed when you shoot it can heat up and bind the bolt making it hard to manipulate.
will do, I will be breaking the whole thing down tomorrow and getting the Cosmo out or tryin to anyway lol
Meh, I wouldn't sweat it. Run a few patches down the bore if you're so inclined. I take care of my stuff, but I'm not OCD about cleaning every little spec of dirt. It's a milsurp, it likely saw a lot worse long before you got it and survived. What is it anyway?
it's a 1943 mosin nagant 91/30 -
Oh. Removing the cosmoline won't remove copper/lead fouling in the barrel. I'd scrub it with brushes only if there's considerable fouling. Otherwise the usual patches of solvent & oil are fine. Shoot it and see what you get. Some guns shoot better clean, most shoot better a little dirty.
I didn't see any dirt or fouling in the barrel but when I used a qtip in the bore the cosmoline was a little black so sometime in its past it was fired -
Generally yes, but it depends on what you're shooting. If it's something like a mosin or mauser with corrosive ammo, the trick is to use windex immediately after shooting. The ammonia in the windex neutralizes the corrosive salts in the ammo. Once you've done that, then "normal" cleaning is all that's necessary.
but is just the lube/cleaner and patches enough after the cosmoline is fully remove or do I need a bore brush and more ? -

After I get all the cosmoline out can I just use some cleaner/lube and some patches to clean and lube it or do I need more than that? -
