  1. I was only ever issued an M16 (Helicopter mechanic-Med retire in '10) but prefer a shorter barreled AR-15 if I were to be hunting, shooting, or an operator.
  2. The Gen2 rear sights are a little bit lower to slide under magnifiers/scopes/etc a little easier. The Gen2 mbus front sight post also comes with a free A2 sight tool. For the same price, you might as well get the gen2's, really, unless you're wanting to "finish out" a set.
  3. I haven't ever seen any knockoffs, but I suppose anything is possible. Definetly buy from a reputable dealer, if possible. Sometimes the "dang that price is too good to be true" product really is. There is no magical markup in Magpul products, and in fact it is pretty tight. If you see a "new" Magpul item from a retailer substantially (40%+) less than MSRP then I'd probably be pretty wary.
  4. We just got in stock not too long ago the Magpul GEN2 Backup sights. They're a little lower profile than the Gen1 to work with eotechs and other sights/magnifiers with swing mounts. We've never had one returned of the new or old style, and they are definitely popular. Very well made product, IMO. I wouldn't personally ask anything "more" out of a rear sight than the Magpul MBUS offers at a lower price than most.
  5. I don't know if it's a necessary rifle for everybody's collection, but they're cheap, surplus ammo is cheap, they can kill a moose, and they kick like one too. I have one of the aftermarket rubber buttpads for my Mosin which helps out a lot on the recoil side of things.
  6. I'd say the stainless ones will be better, but just depends on how much you want to spend. I have an older CMMG non stainless version and it's always run pretty good with cheap federal ammo and a little lube.
  7. These lowers are pretty good, myself and a friend picked up 3 of them from AIM Surplus. We did have some fitment issues, however. One of them I had a problem with fitment between the Surplus Arms and Ammo lower and a LAR Grizzly upper, Spike's Tactical upper, etc. I did not have the same fitment issues with a Spike's lower, or DPMS. They apparently didn't take off enough material on the front most part of where the front takedown pins go. We had to dremel a bit of material off the front to get the fitment correct..unfortunately.
  8. I have 2 suppressors from Griffin Armament (M4SD and Checkmate QD) in transfer right now...check was cashed at the ATF about 2 weeks ago. Got some chamber reamers on order for a 300whisper which will start out as a leftover Rem 700 barrel, and rechambered to 300whisper for an AR....that's it for now
  9. What type of setup is it? Barrel profile? Handguards? etc?
  10. I have a mercury weight on my forend and stock of my 391...adds ~18oz if i remember right. It tames the recoil down to almost nothing, regardless of load. Makes a soft shooting gun into a ***** cat.
  11. I shoot a Browning XT 32"/Beretta 391 for most of my clay shooting, depending on the game. I have a friend who has put a ton of rounds through a sporting Lanber and likes it, but seems to be a bit under the B guns in terms of fit and finish, but also less expensive, so it's to be expected somewhat. He's shot everything with it (and thousands of rounds down the tube) and holds his own, and it's never broke on him. It's hard to beat the 391's for semi autos, but the Lanber's seem to be a good bang for the buck in the sporting
  12. Gotya. No harm no foul
  13. So are you calling me a liar or??? Every background check is case-by-case. My last name is very unique. I've only ever seen one guy with the same name, from Las Vegas, 30+ years older, and deceased. I never get flagged for having a similar name as a felon, etc. You could have been flagged randomly, or just them double checking your identity. Who knows...as it really doesn't matter as long as you passed. I've never had a single hiccup with a firearm purchase, and like I've said, I've bought more than a couple in a single day. Christmas gifts for myself and a few others .
  14. A few years back I bought 9 firearms in a single day with NICS checks from a few different dealers. 2 were stripped AR lowers, and 3 were pistols. If I made any lists, I didn't hear about it. I never had a delay at any dealer on the background checks, either. I wouldn't worry about it.

    AR15 Rail

I wouldn't drill and tap a free float tube and assume it'll always be sturdy to mount a bipod, etc. I would apply a nut, if at all possible. Those free float tubes are NOT very thick, and I'd at least want 3 bolts if possible on the free float tube to ensure the load is spread out a bit. In terms of rails, I doubt you'll do anything to "break" a cheaper rail, regardless if it's a Leapers or UTG. If you can find a rail you like with a price you like, most likely, you won't get hurt. You may not get the strongest, lightest, or best designed rail, but it should do the job. I have a carbine 2-piece UTG hand-guard I traded for a while back and it seems to be decent quality. I couldn't find anything that stood out that screamed to me "stay away" by any means.
  16. Are you looking for a two stage or single stage, what # of pull? For a single stage we sell quite a few of the Spike's Battle Triggers which seem to be popular for the carbine guys. The Rock River 2-Stage National Match is by far our most popular trigger. We get em in by the dozens. Quite a few used in midlength/rifle length setups with hunters or plinkers. If you're comparing them to the "high end" triggers, you'll probably notice a difference. The difference depends on your pocket book though. If you're doing shooting classes or 3gun stuff you might be better off getting a drop-in Geissele, Timmney, etc. If the intended use is plinking/hunting the RRA 2-stage kit is definitely one of the more popular economic choices out there for that purpose.
  17. I know he was not. I was just making clarifying the fact we were not in TN, but were supporting vendors still, although we were not "plugging" for sales.
  18. The problem wasn't about the delivery of, but with a coupon code for a super cheap T-1 that went viral and then they didn't want to honor them, some were already processed, etc.
  19. JoeBobOutfitters is in Kansas, not in TN, but we ship nation-wide. We are supporting sponsors, however.
  20. They had some recent issues with a coupon code involving Aimpoint T-1's that kind of fizzled out and had some issues. You might want to call and verify before placing an order.
  21. The Savage rifles are nice, I have (4) of their rimfires and also a Savage 12FVSS w/ accutrigger .308 in a Choate Varmint stock
  22. I have the same knife, and it was on my OTV Body Armor while downrange. Never had to use it for anything other than utility tasks, but held up well, and price wasn't bad. I like the handle better for that use rather than the leather handle for sure.
  23. I've never seen one in any M16/M4 or AR15's that I was shooting or others...I don't think it's as common as the internet may make it seem due to word of mouth spreading.
  24. Might checkout the SWR Spectre as well as the Sparrow. I have a Griffin Armament Checkmate QD 22LR suppressor at my Class3 dealer now, I need to go do the paperwork to transfer. I've never personally shot one, but they metered pretty good in John Titsworth tests, the price is nice, and they are cheap for a magnum rated QD suppressor.
