  1. I'm in Nipper's Corner/almost Brentwood. I'm fine for driving for up to an hour if someone in these neck of the woods is a dealer (other than Academy in Cool Springs). Is there a TN gun shop listing somewhere on here? Brandon
  2. Thanks again, all. I am leaning heavily toward the Sig. I'm thinking about just grabbing one off of GunBroker and running with it. I've got to find a dealer in Nashville to ship to, though. Any suggestions that you guys use? Brandon
  3. Many, many thanks for all of the replies! I wish I knew exactly what I wanted. That would make this much easier. But that will only come with putting rounds down range and going from there. I may see if there's somewhere around that I could rent any of these. A few years ago, I wanted to get an XD9, and then Obama was elected and all hell broke loose on gun prices. I've noticed they started to come back down a little bit. I think at that time, XD9s could be found for $425 new. They then jumped to something like $550. Pretty big jump. I am certainly not stuck on purchasing a new gun. I would prefer to, but don't have to. I may check out the classifieds in a bit. I'm going to continue digging around. Thank you again for the replies! Brandon
  4. Hi all, I am looking at buying my first automatic pistol, and I'm on a little bit of a budget, so I'm debating between the three guns listed. I'm wanting to do 9mm as I feel it is a great all around round for an all around gun, which this will be for the time being. Its also fairly inexpensive to shoot, especially compared to 45. I'm planning on using this gun to probably go through a concealed carry class, but I'll probably buy another pistol to carry concealed later on. Any thoughts on these three? From what I've gathered, all three should be great pistols in their own respects. However, those respects do differ. I'm leaning toward the 2022 as I would LOVE to own a Sig. They have a great reputation as a great manufacturer and the 2022 is no exception. However, it is $100 more than the others and only has one magazine with it. Not a huge deal, but does count since I'm on a budget. The others seem to be great shooters and highly reliable, but I find the Ruger to be a bit ugly and the Sigma is DAO, if I'm not mistaken (the guy at Academy told me today it was SAO... in a rather rude way... I laughed after I double checked and saw that it was DAO... but that's a story for a different post ). What say you guys? Also, any thoughts on a good gun shop in the Nashville area I can have one shipped to, other than Academy Sports in Cool Springs? One of those guys was condescending and a jerk. He was also very wrong about the Sigma. The other guys there didn't seem to care to much. It was a weird, fairly unpleasant experience. Brandon
  5. Haha! Thanks for the replies, guys. Can't wait to get this thing out in a field. Its going to be fun using the iron sights on this one. Brandon
  6. Thanks for the replies, guys. I am really excited about it. I've been wanting a .30-06 for a while now. The only rifles I had up to this point have been .22s and .30-06 has quite a wide variety of ammo to work on reloading with. Although I have to admit, I'm beginning to feel the need for a good safe more than ever. Once we get a house (my wife and I are planning on buying soon), that may be one of my first purchases. As far as the recoil goes, I would expect this rifle to be about the same as a 12-gauge. Would that be accurate? Brandon
  7. Hi all, Received a great Christmas present this year! My father-in-law gave me his uncle's 1903A3. His uncle qualified with the rifle, shipped abroad, the war was over by the time he got there, so he came back, purchased his rifle, and packed it away. My father-in-law purchased it in 1985 from him, got all of the cosmoline off, fired it once and put it away. Now it is mine and my wife's to continue passing down in the family. Its a Smith Corona from May of 1943 and is more or less almost new. It certainly won't be a daily driver, but I believe it would be an injustice to never shoot it, so I'll be putting a few rounds through it. This isn't the greatest pic, but most of the rifles look pretty much the same anyway. Haha! I'm thinking about getting a recoil pad to put on it while shooting, but we'll see. He also gave my wife a little Raven P-25 that we're going to plink around with. Its not much for self defense, but she thinks its "cute" so that's a bonus at least. Haha! Brandon
  8. Sweet... do you remember prices? Last time I was there I wasn't thinking about reloading. Brandon
  9. Awesome! Thanks for the links, canebreaker. I will check those out and go from there. Brandon
  10. Hi all, I was just curious if anyone cast their own bullets? I'm very interested in doing this a bit later (don't think my wife would let me try to cram it into our apartment, but after we get a house in a year or two...), but I have no idea where to start to get some good info. Any websites that are good? Any book recommendations? Thanks! Brandon
  11. For what its worth, the Mid South website is actually Midsouth Shooters Supply, Reloading, Air Guns, Optics, Muzzleloaders & Shooting Supplies Took me a minute to figure that one out. Brandon
  12. Haha! My thoughts are the same. Even better, I don't have anything I can reload yet, except shotguns. So its time for a new .30-06 for my birthday. Brandon
  13. Sweet! Thanks, 56FordGuy. I work in Brentwood, so I may have to veer off onto Waldron Road on my way home from work tomorrow. Brandon
  14. Hi all, I got two new reloaders for Christmas. They're a 16 gauge and 12 gauge Lee LoadAllII. I'm planning on reloading cartridges soon, too, but I don't have any centerfire rifles right now, anyway. Hoping to get a .30-06 soon, but anyway... I'm looking for a way to not have to pay the hazardous fee on primers and blackpowder and it seems as though buying locally is the way to do that. Is there anywhere in middle TN that you can buy powder and shotgun primers at a good price? At least comparable to buying online and paying hazardous fee, if not cheaper? Or would I be better off making a big Midway order? Thanks all! I'm pumped to finally be starting this. I've been reading through Modern Reloading and I've got the Lyman Shotshell Reloading Handbook on its way. Brandon
  15. Over-the-air isn't disappearing... only analog over-the-air. Radio is doing the same thing by 2010 and then the FCC is considering auctioning off the old analog frequencies to industries. According to a radio engineer I talked to at an Audio Engineers Society meeting, anyway. Brandon
  16. Nice new plane! What engine you gonna put in it? BTW, you should buy my planes! Know anyone wanting to get into the hobby? I've got a great deal for 'em! Brandon
  17. I'm going to that show, as well this coming weekend. Spending money on my father-in-law, though. Hoping to pick up and feel some guns I've been considering. Anyway... pretty good Christmas here... I got 2 Koralia 3's (pumps for my aquarium ), a small Leatherman, AOEIII, an awesome BackPack (Wenger Synergy), little bit of money, Lowe's gift card, lots of clothes, and some other stuff I'm probably forgetting. Brandon
  18. FWIW, I have Netflix and LOVE it! I have the 2 movies a month/unlimited movies for $15 after taxes and such. As long as we use it twice a month, we get our money out of it. And the cool thing is its really quick. I was surprised. Say I send my movie(s) in on Monday... Wednesday we have the next movie. One day each way isn't too bad, I don't think. Probably as quick as it will get in normal mail. And I'm in Murfreesboro, too, so we should have the same speed. Also, FWIW, TiVO will soon be available on your home computer through Nero (some CD/DVD burning software). More info can be found on TiVO's site here: http://www.tivo.com/abouttivo/pressroom/pressreleases/2007/TiVoNero.html Mike.357: Sounds like you're on the bad side of Comcast billing... I'm on the GREAT side. I've had high speed internet from them for over a year and a half now and they have YET to charge me for it! I LOVE that it slipped passed them! I honestly didn't try, either. I did everything I was supposed to... never showed up on my bill... I pretend not to notice. Brandon
  19. Thanks for the replies, guys! I think its probably going to be a bit before I actually carry, and it will probably be my second bought gun (the ones I own now were inherited ). Thanks again! Brandon
  20. Seriously! Brandon
  21. Nice. Thanks Rabbi! This thing is a great little gun to shoot... Brandon
  22. Forgive my ignorance... was it literally sold as a kit? Or does kit mean something else? Brandon
  23. Yep... every time I try to log in, it says "access denied... your account is awaiting approval". Its been that way for like 4 days now. Brandon
  24. Thanks, man. There is a number. 74625 with something that resembles half of an R above that... the right half, to be exact. Below it there is a single 4. There is not a letter or anything before the serial. There's also not a model number that I can find. Thanks! Brandon PS I'm from White Pine... its cool to see you on here.
  25. I tried that... she didn't like Long John Silvers. Brandon
