  1. ON TOP OF THE FRIDGE!!! Oh man, I never thought of that...   <Runs to find optimal "refrigerator draw" location>
  2. I have this Kershaw with the half serrated blade. The Screwdriver is pretty handy. The blade opens with one hand and holds a good edge.
  3. My AlienGear IWB holster for the S&P Shield is 9 3/4 x 7 inches. My home made holster for the Taurus G2 is 9x7 inches and a little thinner. It might not sound like much, but the feel is quite different. The leather on the home made holster is thinner and contours to the body much better. It will probably wear out faster, but I'd rather have a more comfortable holster. That's why I finally started making my own.
  4. I can't find the video. Place the gun on the board and trace the outline. Your outline will be a little wider than the gun. That's what you want. Draw a line from the high point of the front sight to the high point of the rear sight. Draw a straight line to connect the points and cut. The cutout will be a little taller on the top of the slide (see the example in my picture). That will allow the front slide to move in and out of the holster without catching on the Kydex.  Drill holes at turns. Use a jig saw to cut out the outline. The mold piece should be no more than 1/2 inch thick... 3/4 inch thick and the Kydex mold will be too wide to hold the gun in place once you mount it to the leather.   Wrap your gun in Saran Wrap to prevent damage. Cut the Kydex into a 6x6 square. Heat until it's floppy. Quicker transfer it to the mold. Align the left side of the Kydex with the left side of the mold, which is also the front of the barrel. (I'm assuming you're right handed.) Quickly put the gun on the mold and push it down. Quickly put the second piece of foam and the board on top. Press it down and clamp with a C-clamp. Let it cool for 5 minutes. The more pressure you can exert, the more the mold will conform to the exact contours of the gun, but that really is just cosmetic.
  5. The instructions are somewhere online or on a youtube video. The boards are shelving boards. The bottom foam is from one of those mats you put together like a jigsaw puzzle. I heated the Kydex on a BBQ grill. I put it on parchment paper on a baking sheet to keep it from sticking.
  6. Here's a couple of pics.
  7. We have three rescues. This one came with a few bad habits, but she's turned into an outstanding dog. Her pre-haircut picture is my avatar... hard it tell it's the same dog! Oh, and I don't smoke. She picks these empty cartons up on her morning walks and carries them home.
  8. If I were in your shoes, I'd start with an acceptable retention holster and figure out a way to velcro it in place so it presents well in the purse. Prior to doing that, I'd remove the unnecessary parts of the holster.    Oh, on the Glock. You might consider getting a Kydex trigger guard with a cord attached to the purse. When the Glock is drawn, the cord pulls the trigger cover off the trigger area.
  9. I ran into some heavy traffic at 4:15pm yesterday on I-65N from Briley to downtown. It wasn't mentioned on Twitter. I saw an accident that slowed traffic on Briley between Old County Hospital and Hwy 12. It wasn't mentioned either.
  10. Welcome to TGO. I just bought a G2 Millennium as well.  I've made an IWB holster and I'm probably going to get a Crimson Trace CMR-206 laser for it. I tried the CMR-203. It's great, but a little wider than the G2 and just a bit longer. It's going to be too hard to make a holster for it, so I'm going with the CMR-206 instead.

That is awesome! I didn't know such things existed. I'm putting it on my wish list for later on Amazon.
  12. Reagan won the cold war and indirectly caused the fall of the Soviet Union. The Soviets overspent on weapons to the point that their entire economy collapsed. Their leaders' overspending on the military was a direct response to Reagan's policies. Had he sought to appease the Soviet Union, they would have done what Iran is doing now.... stalling and building their forces at a more sustainable pace.   Today, our government is doing exactly the opposite of Reagan. We're overspending on nonproductive social programs and compromising with Iran on nuclear weapons.
  13. Who is the carrier for Republic Wireless?
  14. It pains me to report that my 1997 Subaru wagon just blew a head gasket. It's not worth fixing since the trans is going out too. Sad. Anyone want a Subaru... cheap?     Fortunately, my 2000 Subaru wagon is still going strong. This winter when everyone was snowed in for a day, I went out in the snow and slammed on the brakes a few times just to remind myself of what it was like to slip and slide. This spring I picked up a couple of 2x8x10' boards for the deck and carried them inside the car. I can't do that in my Dodge R3500 quadcab diesel pickup. Gotta love Subarus.   On concealed carry, I've never had anyone question or comment about my carry because in 15 years, no one has every seen it. But if it ever happens, I think I'd say something like this.
  15. Geesh. My combined bill with my wife and I is $150/month. I'm limited to Verizon because I live in the country and other carriers don't work at my home.    What's available using Verizon as the carrier? I've been thinking about going to that one sold in WalMart... Straight Talk for $45/month.
  16. Congratulations!  Let us know what it feels like to carry. I found that my situational awareness went way up. I noticed what was going on around me and people who looked "suspicious" and civilians who were blissfully walking around texting with no clue of what was going on around them. I starting noticing other people who were carrying or looked like they might be carrying.   I also went through a wardrobe makeover. Pants pocket depth became more important. Cover shirts needed to be heavier so they wouldn't bunch up and print the gun. None of this was expensive or particularly time consuming, but it was interesting how carrying changes little things in your life.
  17. There was a big display for the R51 at the NRA show. I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but that was one ugly gun.
  18. Thanks, this is a great list. The place on White Bridge across from Target is where I often go, but I used to go to the downtown Farmers Market when it was convenient. It sounds like it's going hipster. (sigh)
  19. The Nashville Farmers' Market is practically empty now!  There's like one vendor there when there should be 20. The North Sheds are completely empty except for Flowers Nursery (plants and flowers).  I heard they were switching to producers-only, but that announcement was way back in January.    What's going on?  Where are the vendors now? Where are the produce vendors in and around Nashville? The Franklin Farmers Market is too far and too yuppy-fied.
  20. Thanks. I go down White Bridge almost every Saturday, so I'll check this place out.
  21. I had never considered a leather holster. They were always too thick. This sounds interesting.  How light is "extremely lightweight leather?" Is it in the 5-6 oz range? I honestly don't even know what 5-6 oz or 8-9 oz even means when it comes to leather. I assume there are YouTube videos on how to do this, right?    EDIT: Oops, I misspoke. I meant I never considered leather for an IWB holster. Wouldn't the molded leather get sweaty and soft when worn IWB?
  22. I didn't know it existed. I'll try to get by there in the next couple of weeks. It's too far to make a special trip just for a couple of pieces of leather.
  23. My current homemade IWB holster is far more comfortable than any other holster I've worn so I'm going to make a couple more for myself and one of my friends.    I'm going to make them with Kydex and leather.  I'm going to use chocolate brown leather and black carbon fiber kydex. That should be a nice look.  I'm buying two sets of screws. I'm going to try golden brass screws, first. I think it will look pretty sharp and definitely different. If it looks tacky, it's easy enough to switch to black screws.   I'm trying to track down all the various parts. www.KnifeKits.com has everything I want, but they're out of the leather color I was looking for.     Where can I get some decent dark brown leather? I do NOT want heavy, stiff leather, but I don't want it floppy soft either.  Almost all the IWB commercial holsters are too stiff for my taste.   Suggestions?
  24. I'm in the market for a green laser Universal Rail mount for my Taurus G2 Millennium. Seems like the Crimson Trace CMR-203 is my best bet at Optics Planet for $144 after 15% discount coupon. Any other places I should look before pulling the trigger? Midway USA is $149.    Should I look at something else instead of the Crimson Trace CMR-203? I'd be okay with red if it's bright enough to be seen in daytime. Thanks.
