Parole officers asked to leave Friday's restaurant in Franklin, Tn.

It seems like a simple "We're law enforcement" and showing an official ID would have resolved the issue on the spot. -
How, exactly, is Edge better than Chrome? Chrome has apps that I like and I don't think a similar app exists yet for Edge. Cite This For Me... a citation manager that captures a webpage address and organizes it in proper citation format. A search bar that allows me to choose whether to search using Google, Bing, Amazon, YouTube, Ebay, or any other search engine I choose. Awesome screenshot... a screen capture app that captures all or part of a web page, crops it, and allows me to annotate it. I'm not saying Edge isn't any good, but is it demonstrably better than Chrome in any way? If so, I'm not aware of it.

I was browsing the web and read an article on Edge. Apparently, it has some problems rendering pages that are optimized for Firefox or Chrome. That'll probably be fixed, but until then, I'd suggest the OP just use Chrome for web browsing for the next few months until Microsoft or websites work out the bugs. My pet peeve with Windows 10 is that Cortana keeps popping up every few minutes. I think it has something to do with multiple finger motions on the touchpad. I've turned everything off related to Cortana and touchpad per advice on TenForums, but it only seems to last a few days. Then, it starts occurring again. If I use the mouse, it doesn't happen. It's irritating, but I can live with it by using the mouse to scroll.

Amazing new holster design
jgradyc replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I'd like to hear some first-hand reviews. My primary concern is that I prefer to wear my belt reasonably tight and it would be difficult to extract the pouch from the waistband. I'd also be a bit concerned about the weapon popping out of the pouch if you pulled it up too forcefully. I'd also think that it would make a pretty big bulge on the thigh unless you're a big guy or wear really loose fitting pants. Having said all that, I can see times I would work for me, assuming the above criticisms could be overcome. -
Really? Just download Chrome. It works fine.

Which flashlight is the best?
jgradyc replied to gomer pyle's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
If you decide to buy the lights and batteries from Fasttech, place two separate orders. The flashlights will arrive in two weeks or less. The batteries will take about 3-4 weeks. I messed up and placed the order together so my lights will be delayed getting here. The Sipik clone can be run on AAs until the 14500 batteries and charger arrive. In fact, a AA battery is fine for indoors or walking at night, provided you don't walk longer than 15 minutes. It will dim noticeably after 2 minutes and then hold steady for 10 minutes, then drop off in brightness. I have another light that stays at a steady brightness and then just... stops... when the battery gets too weak. Not good for walking the dogs at night! -

I just bought this Sipik clone light tonight because it has glass optics and 3 modes. https://www.fasttech.com/products/0/10008176/1730001-sk-68-1-cree-xp-e-q5-300lm-3-mode-cool-white and this one https://www.fasttech.com/products/0/10000423/1045600-x2000-flood-to-throw-zooming-glass-optics-cree-p4 and these 14500 (AA sized 3.7v) batteries for the little one https://www.fasttech.com/products/1420/10000523/1084200-trustfire-14500-3-7v-900mah-protected Unfortunately, because I ordered batteries, they have to be shipped around-about ways so I probably won't get them for 3-4 weeks. My EDC is this little guy. https://www.fasttech.com/products/0/10000518/1052605-trustfire-r5-a3-cree-xp-g-r5-3-mode-230lm-memory-l -
I was told $45 when I was in the store about three weeks ago.

Which flashlight is the best?
jgradyc replied to gomer pyle's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
I went outside tonight with my flashlights to see which ones might meet your criteria. The Home Depot Defiant 3 C cell lit up the telephone pole and wires at 140 yards like a Christmas tree. It would have worked farther, but that's the farthest pole from my driveway so I didn't test it any farther. For indoors, it's useless. It's big, heavy, and way too bright to shine on anything up close. To use it indoors, you'd have to bounce the light off the ceiling. The Convoy M1 just barely made the lines visible at 140 yards. The lines were definitely visible at 50-70 yards. The M1 is fine indoors on medium or low power. The Convoy S2 was a nice wide beam and great indoors on low power, but it barely reached 50 yards to show the power line. Amazingly, the little Sipik SK68 zoom would almost reach 120 yards on full zoom with a AA battery and did reach with a 14500 3.7v rechargeable battery. The beam was only as wide as my thumbnail at arm's length, but it did barely reach the pole well enough to see if the line was attached. The Sipik SK68 is about $5. The problem is that a lot of knock offs of the SK68 are sold and some aren't very good. Oh, and the battery only lasts about 10 minutes on full power, but you might not need it for ten minutes. I'll see if I can find a source for them. -

I'm know this light will reach 100 yards well enough to tell if it's a dog or coyote. Whether it will show a power line or not I'm not sure. I'll test mine tonight and get back to you. It's a Convoy M2. The entire Convoy line gets good reviews for quality at Budget Light Forum. Cost is $22. It's a little brighter than my Solarforce L2m, but maybe I have a different bulb than the above poster. https://www.fasttech.com/products/0/10002364/1856708-convoy-m2-1-cree-xm-l2-u2-1a-1067lm-2-group-3-5 This Convoy C8 will reach out farther, but the beam is narrow. It could be just what you want for distance, but it's not a great all-around light. https://www.fasttech.com/products/0/10002364/3398408-convoy-c8-1-cree-xm-l2-u2-1a-2-group-3-5-mode You'll also need an 18650 battery. These Trustfire Flames are good when you get them from a trusted source, like FastTech. https://www.fasttech.com/products/0/10000377/1053200-trustfire-tf18650-3-7v-3000mah-protected I've also ordered one of their cheap flood-to-throw adjustable beam lights, but it hasn't arrived yet. You'll need a charger like this one. https://www.fasttech.com/products/0/10000781/1068003-trustfire-tr002-lithium-battery-charger Total cost will be about $40. I have a Convoy M2 and two of their S2s. The S2 is a wide beam and won't be what you need at 100 yards. At these prices, you can afford to buy more than one light. I have about 10 of various sizes for the car, bedside, dog walking, and checking out noises at our gate 120 yards from the house. EDITED: Oh, you can run any of these 18650 battery lights on 2 CR123's instead, but it will get pricey. -
Dumb question... how do you shoot a Barrett if you can't look through the scope? Do you use one of those pistol-type scopes... I can't think of what they're called.

Just for perspective, downtown hotels are showing up at $350-$450 on Hotwire. You can stay maybe 15 minutes away for $110 and up. Parking is $10 downtown in most places, I think. Where ever you park, be prepared for a hike to the stadium unless you take one of the shuttles. It's nearly a mile from downtown to your seats by the time you walk from downtown to the stadium and then wind around the circular walkway to get to your level. I don't get the love for hot chicken. I went to Prince's Hot Chicken Shack just north of downtown based on rave reviews from friends and was very unimpressed, as was my wife.

My guess is that they're going to a research facility where they will be infected with bites and then they'll try to find ways to cure them. It's a productive use of people who would otherwise be a liability for group survival. That would also add a dark element to the plot. Would a survival society do that? Probably yes, once the situation became desperate enough. Their location would seem to be very temporary. We've seen electric power go on and off, but what about water? They're on top of a hill. When the water goes out, they're going to have to relocate. Food would seem to come next, but I'd guess they could raid vacant homes for canned goods indefinitely.

Have you considered the Shield or the Kel Tec P11? The KTOG forum has lots of mods for the P11... mostly to improve the trigger pull. Lots of hobbyists sand down the edges so it fits the hand better. It's an old design and prone to "limp-wristing" just like its smaller 380 counterpart, the P3AT. Once you figure out how to hold the gun, it shoots well enough. For the money, it's a better gun than the PF9 if you're willing to do the trigger mods or have someone add the aftermarket trigger for you.

Regal : Searching for FOOD and DRINKS....NOT GUNS!
jgradyc replied to Ron_TN's topic in General Chat
Are handguns banned per proper sign? Or, are they just searching bags "for the safety and comfort of our customers?" I'm okay with them searching my wife's handbag as long as they don't search my pocket. -
I need some advice on how to repair some cracks in my driveway. It's not blacktop or cement. It's a highway-type material with small gravel held together with something. The cracks have grass growing through them, so I figure if I don't fix it, it will eventually get worse. From what I've learned so far, I can either brush some type type of filler over it or I can put a rope-like tar into the crack and melt it with a torch. The latter sounds like a more permanent fix, but I'd like to see what others think. First I have to get rid of the grass in the cracks. I've tried pulling it out with pliers. That works, but it's going to take at least 4 hours to do that. Any suggestions on how to speed up that process... maybe burn it off with the torch? I'll have to buy a torch, but compared to paying someone to seal the driveway, it's a minor expense. I have a 150 yard long driveway. I'd guess there is between 300-500 linear feet of 1/4 to 1/2 wide cracks to be filled, plus some areas where the driveway is crumbly that will have to be sealed with the brush-on approach. Is there some other approach I should consider? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm a small guy. The Kahr PM9 is about as big as I would go for pocket carry. Any bigger and the weight plus size would be a bit uncomfortable for me to pocket carry. If weight is no issue and a 6 and a quarter inch long gun is not too big for you, you could consider the Taurus G2 Millenium. The G2 has gotten outstanding reviews and can be purchased for $199 (on sale right now, I think, at Kentucky Gun Co. Not sure. I'd have to check my emails.) It has an adequate sized safety compared to the tiny safety on the Shield. I like the way it fits my hand and the safety is definitive on/off. (I want the safety to be hard and loud enough to be felt and heard... YMMV). Sometimes I carry the Taurus 709 because it's lighter and thinner, but the feel and safety are the same as the G2.

I'm puzzled by the pencil. I've read a couple of reviews and watched a YouTube video and my question is still unanswered. Why would anyone who isn't a professional designer or artist want one of these things? If it were free, I doubt that I would find a use for it.

I she carries in a purse, it should be in a holster that covers the trigger, retains it, and holds the gun in the same position all the time. You can modify one of the suade-like holsters like a Remora and sew it around the trigger guard to get a snug fit. Then, velcro the holster to the side of the purse. I have a shield, but I agree the manual safety is too small. You could fabricate a wider safety with J&B Weld. I've thought about it. I owned a Sig P238 (the 380) and really liked it. The safety is bigger than the Shield. I've read that the P938 is just as good and it's almost identical to the P238, except a little bigger and in 9mm. You might want to consider it. On my P238, the safety was very definitive in switching, so there was no chance of accidentally tapping it and knocking it off.

I'd suggest that she doesn't need to be able to cycle the handgun. That's what you're there for. It's not like she's going to the range by herself. All she needs to be able to do is turn off the safety and pull the trigger.

This really made me laugh. I'd never thought of using a gun to pistol whip somebody. I'm going to rush out and get a Hi Point 45 ACP... 35 ounces of club worthy metal.

That's six movements. Mouse to start, click, mouse to power, click, mouse to shut down, and click. The shortcut is one... tap the power button.
