Do-It-Yourself Holster from Gallon Milk Jug
jgradyc replied to jgradyc's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Next, wrap the curved piece around the barrel. Cut another curved piece and wrap it around the trigger guard and laser. Overlap the top piece and tape it in place. Tape the two pieces together. Adjust the tape until the handgun fits snugly. Trim the end about 1/4 inch from the end of the barrel. If you want the handgun to sit higher in the pocket, leave a larger gap at the end of the barrel. If you want it to sit deeper, trim the plastic flush with the end of the barrel. -
BACKGROUND: I like front pocket carry, but most pocket holsters print noticeably because they are so thick and sometimes they come out with the gun instead of staying in your pocket. Without a holster, the handgun can shift so it is not easy to draw. Years ago, I wrote here about how to make a front pocket holster from a one gallon milk or water jug. I wanted a new holster for my P365 with laser so I decided to share the steps with TGO. When finished, your holster will... Weigh less than one ounce Add less than 1/16 of inch to the thickness of the gun Will NOT come out of your pocket with the handgun Can custom fit any handgun with or without a laser Can be adjusted for pocket depth and preferred cant in your pocket. Can be made in about a half hour Supplies needed: Scissors, 1 gallon water/milk jug, photographers tape To start, cut out the side of a gallon water or milk jug. Include the curved corner where the sides come together. When finished, your holster will be this thin! \

I made my own under table gun magnets. I took a very strong neodymium magnet with two countersink holes, put it inside a shrink tube, shrunk it with a heat gun to fit the magnet, carefully cut a slit in the shrink wrap over the countersink hole, peeled back the tubing, screwed the magnet to the table, and then carefully pulled the shrink wrap back to cover the screw head. The problem I ran into in mounting it in the car was where to put it so my knee wouldn't hit it while getting in or out of the car. I finally gave up on the car magnet gun mount and found a better location. Of course, it's going to vary from one car to another.

I came down with symptoms on Jan 2nd. Unvaccinated... age 74. Tested positive on day 4. The worst part was the sort throat caused by sinus congestion. I followed the FLCCC protocol. You can look it up. NyQuil, DayQuil, and pseudoephedrine helped a LOT with the sore throat. I made the 1% solution povidone-iodine nasal spray and so did my wife. The recipe is on the FLCCC website. I think it cut down the viral load from my nose and what my wife probably breathed in enough to prevent her from catching it. It lasted about 5 days and then got noticeably better. The fatigue lasted 14 days and I still have some slight sinus drainage. If you think about it, the nasal rinse (spray) makes a lot of sense since the virus grows first in the nasal passageways.

I came down with Omicron January 2nd. I'm 74, unvaccinated, and no co-morbidities. I followed the FLCCC protocol and added NyQuil for the sore throat. It lasted about 5 days and then started to fade. I'm fine now, but I tested positive on Monday so I need to isolate a few more days. It was like a bad case of the flu. My vitamin D level most recently was 95... far above the 20-30ng/ml average. While it didn't prevent covid, I think my high vitamin D level helped me get over it with no long-covid symptoms.

I'm currently reading The Real Anthony Fauci by RFK Jr. The ebook version is only $2.99 on Amazon and it's currently #1 on Amazon. I expected it to be a hit piece, but it's a thorough timeline of activities by Dr. Fauci and his acolytes to suppress use of prophylactic and therapeutic drugs, including but not limited to HCQ and Ivermectin. I'm shocked by what I've learned. It's much worse than we have been led to believe. Read ebook pages 88-100 deal with HCQ. 100-145 deal with Ivermectin. (and maybe more on IVM. I'm just at page 145 so far.) There are over 450 footnotes in Chapter 1. If you buy the ebook, you can click on the link and read the original document. Pages 134-142 is a transcription of a Zoom call with one of the most influential people in the world about Ivermectin. You will come to the same conclusion I did. He has been bought. He so much as admits it in the back and forth dialogue. I'm not sure I can post a link to buy the book, but surely everyone here buys things from Amazon. Get the ebook and you can start reading immediately. Please... buy this book. Read it. Post a link to it on all the other forums you're on and on your Facebook page.

Baldwin shoots two on movie set, accidental misfire???
jgradyc replied to TennesseeCamper's topic in General Chat
I'm sure more information will eventually come out. An article said it was one shot that passed through the woman and hit the man. That would have to be a live round. A blank or even a bullet stuck in the barrel and pushed out by a blank couldn't go entirely through a person, could it? I've been shot by a blank from a range of about 10 feet. It stung a little but it didn't penetrate my Air Force field jacket. It sounds like somehow a live round got into or was left in a revolver and Balwin was playing with it and pulled the trigger. It's pretty hard to accidentally pull the trigger on a double action revolver. -
I switched from Evan Williams to Jameson.

If you're obese or even close to it, get the shot. If you decide not to get the shot, then at least take 10,000 IU of vitamin D3 daily along with supplemental zinc, magnesium, and take melatonin at bedtime. It takes about 8 months for vitamin D to plateau in your body after you start taking it so don't delay. I'm still in the wait and see camp and I plan to be until at least April, 2022, but I'm retired and can avoid people.

Based on the number of people on this thread who hate white clover, I will mow the area adjacent to my neighbor's yard and just cultivate my clover on the other side of the field.
-
I'm the OP of this 3-year old thread. I now have beautiful patches of clover in my 4 acre front "yard." With yard being a euphemism for field. Clover is everywhere now, but it's only thick in a few plots. I'd prefer to see a sea of white when it's blooming. It's been 12 days since I last mowed. The clover tops are white and thick in a few places and it's been white for maybe 3-4 days. I'd like to get the optimum amount of clover seeds, so how much longer should I let the clover grow before I mow it again? I want as much of it to go to seed as possible and spread, but I'm mowing the rest of the field to prevent other grasses from going to seed. It looks pretty... unusual... right now with patches of unmowed clover surrounded by mowed grass.

ReeferMac, I just want you to know that I share every concern and feel the same as you. These mRNA vaccines were developed in 90 days, maybe less. Pfizer, for example, started their COVID vaccine program in January 2020, announced clinical trials in March and gave the first worldwide doses to four Germans on April 29, 2020. In June 2020, we will have a database of exactly 36 people worldwide who have had the Pfizer vaccine for one year. My concern is that you cannot look at short term side effects and extrapolate what the long term side effects will be. It's a guess... a roll of the dice with the lives of hundreds of millions of people on the line. Let's hope there are no long term side effects. The 1984-like Newspeak from public health leadership turns me off.

I've recently found three website with information you can't find on mainstream media. They are lifesitenews dot com, thecovidblog dot com, and childrenshealthdefense dot org. I suggest everyone check them out.

I read this "fact-check" and had to laugh. Yes, Fauci's organization gave a grant to EcoHealth Alliance. Yes, Ecohealth funded research into bat viruses collected at the source of SARS-CoV2 800 miles away and brought them to the Wuhan Lab. Yes, published papers by this lab showed gain of function research. But since there is no HARD evidence, the claim is considered false! This isn't just a smoking gun; it's a glowing red hot barrel of a Squad Automatic Weapon. I'm reminded of Sgt Shultz in Hogan's Heros saying, "I know NOTHING!!"
-
It sounds like everyone here who wants the shot has gotten at least the first shot. I hope it works out for everyone and that my concern over the long-term (2-5 year) effects prove to be unwarranted.

While browsing through our classifieds today, I saw an interesting transaction. A guy joined TGO and posted a Glock 43 for sale. What's unusual is that he had only been a member of TGO for 19 hours when I saw the post so he had apparently joined and then immediately posted the item for sale. Then, today, someone else joined TGO and immediately posted an offer to buy that gun. Neither has posted on any other thread. This is probably a legit transaction, but it concerns me. Should we allow strangers to join and immediately post an item for sale? Should we allow someone to join and immediately post an offer to buy? Personally, I don't think I would sell to anyone who joined immediately to respond to my ad. I might consider buying, but it would have to be pretty convincing and very safe... as in "meeting a policeman at the precinct office" safe. Just wondering.

Your doctor knows your situation and, frankly, the worst reactions seem to occur in healthy people with no co-morbidities. That said, if you or anyone else reading this start having severe symptoms in the first 48 hours after the shot, get to ER stat.

Thanks. That study references three large studies with the opposite findings. It excludes Spain and Sweden from the data, which are strong example of the negative correlation between vitamin D and severity of COVID-19. Clinicaltrials.gov shows 82 ongoing studies of vitamin D as a treatment/preventive for COVID-19. It's not just wacko vitamin nuts who think vitamins can cure everything. I'm okay with everyone else getting the shot. My choice won't affect the speed of vaccinating everyone since there's a waiting list of people to get the shot.

Through 6Mar, the March average is 20.5/day, but I think cases are a better measure of where we are. On Dec 18, TN peaked with a 7-day moving average of 9,600/day. On 6Mar, it was 1,188/day. That's about an 88% decline!

The CDC COVID data tracker shows that new cases are dropping steadily and steeply since early January. At that rate, it will be mostly gone by late March/early April. Regardless, it's a virus and viruses will return when we get into flu season this fall. I think what everyone here should be doing is... Losing weight. There is a strong correlation between excessive weight and COVID severity. With only a moderate change in exercise and nutrition, everyone could lose 2 lbs/month, which would be 24 pounds since the COVID outbreak last February. More to the point, it could be 12 pounds by the arrival of flu season in September. There is no downside. A more aggressive approach could lose 20-30 pounds by then. Exercising. The direct correlation to exercise isn't as strong, but exercise boosts the immune system, helps lose weight, and slows aging. Note that age (and obesity) are the top cofactors in COVID severity and death. You can't change your chronological age, but you can change your functional age. Taking supplements to boost the immune system. Vitamin D3 is probably the most important supplement to take. There is a strong correlation between low D levels and COVID 19. Vitamin D does not just boost the immune system, it modulates the immune system. If COVID didn't cause an overreaction of the immune system, COVID would be no worse than the flu. Zinc is also important, but low zinc levels is not a problem for most people. On the other hand, probably 9 out of 10 people reading this have less than optimal D levels unless they have been taking a vitamin D3 supplement. It is a travesty that our public health officials have not been telling people this since last April when the first study on vitamin D and COVID came out. Thousands of lives might have been saved.

I've been contacted by Vanderbilt twice to schedule an appointment to get the vaccine, but I've declined. I'll take my chances with vitamin D instead. A year or so from now when we have some data on the long term effects of the shot, I'll reconsider it. Best of luck to all taking it.

In late December, the CDC COVID tracker showed a 7-day moving average of 9,300 cases in Tennessee. Today, it's 1,075 cases... an 89% decline. The anticipated jump after Christmas travel and holiday parties never happened, or at least not to a great extent. The decline has been steep and steady since early January. It can't be vaccines. The most likely explanation is a combination of natural immunity and herd immunity.
-
I asked the same question at a legal self defense class in December. My question was what if two guys kick down my door and come into my house in the middle of the night and I get the drop on them and tell them hands up and they just turn around and walk out... what can I do? The short answer was nothing. Get a description of the person and their vehicle and call the police. My takeaway from the course is 1) You do NOT want to shoot someone because their POS relatives will sue you for everything you own. And they can do this even if there are witnesses and video to support your case! 2) You'd better be darn sure your life is really on the line because after you shoot, your financial life will probably be on the line. Even if you win, the legal fees to defend yourself can be up a half million dollars.

Why I Don't Do Gun Business With Perfect Strangers
jgradyc replied to E4 No More's topic in General Chat
Sad story. I hate that the media reported that the victim "responded to an online ad" when there's no proof that a gun sale was involved at all. It makes it a "gun sale" story instead of a "guy shot" story. I suspect that a gun sale wasn't even evolved. It's more likely that the survivor said "gun sale" to avoid saying it was a drug deal gone bad. I reserve the right to change my mind if the facts change... -
It's odd that the 7-day case rate peaked on Jan 6 and is now down from 7,588 to ~2,800 while the death rate continues to climb. I think we'll see a sharp decline in death rates soon. Everything else... case rates, hospitalization rates, etc... is trending down. Regardless, I'll continue to take vitamin D3 and my other supplements.
