  1. My 89-year-old mother-in-law just went into a nursing home in another state. I've set up a video chat couple times by smart phone and it really seems to work well, but the problem is I have to have someone there to operate the phone for her. Does anyone have any idea or know how I can set up a dedicated chatline for her so she could just answer it like a telephone. I could give her one of my tablets, but it's so easy to get lost in all of the dozens of applications on those things. Ideally, this device would just ring. She could push a button and answer it and then she could see me Ideas?
  2. Megyn Kelley is like Geraldo Rivera. Instead of reporting the news, she inserts herself into it. Good riddance.
  3. I'm almost 70. You don't want to mess with armed senile senior.
  4. I tend to dress nice. I'm gray haired. I'm nearly 70. I just carry where ever I go unless it's a place with a high possibility of getting made by security or law enforcement. In the remote possibility that I am made, my preplanned response would something along the lines of, "Oh! I'm sorry. I just forgot that I was carrying. I'll go put this in my car. Sorry to bother you... won't happen again." I think I could talk my way out of most situations with a polite approach like this. They don't want the hassle of calling the police either. They just want to avoid the liability of a ND inside the store. In the remote chance that approach failed, I have a Plan B story... a true story, that would probably work if the first one didn't.
  5. traffic cams! Great idea. I'll follow up on that.
  6. Once a week, Briley Parkway southbound lanes between Exit 24 (Ashland City Highway) and Exit 25 (County Hospital Road) is backed up between 7:00AM and 8:25AM. This week it was Tuesday. Last week it was Wednesday. It seems to be weekly, but not on the same day. It's not due to accident or construction. It clears up after exit 25, so it seems like something is going on to slow traffic at Exit 25. The only thing off that exit are Kindred Hospital and the TN Prison for Women. I don't see how shift change would be enough to slow down traffic on Briley. If I could figure out what's going on and the schedule, I could start earlier on those days to avoid the back up. Anyone know what is going on or how I can find out?

    Ruger LCPii

I'd like to see how the LCP 2 trigger compares to my Kel Tec P3AT with trigger mods. The main knock on these little Kel Tecs and clones is that the trigger pull is too long, but that's fixable with a few modifications. Granted, it will never be a single action, but the trigger pull can be shortened by more than half.
  8. I guess I don't get it. But then I didn't get it when I offered to buy it if you listed it in the Classifieds as is nearly a year ago. Ha! <insert humor icon here> Respectfully, you have wasted a year of your life waiting for a response. It's time to fix the gun and move on. Here's a stock that looks better than the factory wood stock, is adjustable, and will have you shooting again in a week or so. It's $59 plus shipping. You might want to call first to double check the fit. I don't think the forend will fit, but the buttstock should, and that's all you need. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/543899/advanced-technology-shotforce-6-position-collapsible-buttstock-with-pistol-grip-and-forend-rossi-shotguns-and-rifles-polymer-black https://www.atigunstocks.com/rifles/rossi/stocks/shotforce-rossi-stock
  9. My Midway ammo order arrived today. It was ordered Thanksgiving Day late in the afternoon. I also ordered a meat grinder, thanks to the heads up from gregintenn on this thread. It was ordered... Saturday, I think. EDITED: Looks like I spent a total of $110 over the Black Friday weekend, well below the national average of $400.
  10. Interesting... the light/dark function key on my Dell laptop don't seem to work. I've tried them with the Ctrl, Shift, Windows, and Fn key. I can change brightness by going to the Control Panel but that seems to be a lot of work. I've changed my theme to TGO Darker as a couple of people have PM'd me. Thanks. I'm okay with the change now.
  11. Thanks, I clicked on Theme and then tried TGO Dev and TGO Darker. I prefer TGO darker. Thanks for letting me know. This is acceptable.
  12. I only read TGO on my laptop. Wow. This is painfully bright! I don't like this at all. EDIT: I'll play around with my brightness and contrast, but it works now for all the other sites I visit.
  13. Off topic, but if anyone sees a great deal on meat grinders, let me know! I'm looking for gun deals, but I haven't seen anything exciting to me yet. Oh, and I bought 200 rounds of the 9mm. THANKS!!!
  14. Darn. It's available in non-anodized for only $2 more. I've already ordered it in black. http://www.banggood.com/BLF-A6-XPL-1600LM-74modes-Non-anodized-EDC-LED-Flashlight-18650-p-998021.html?currency=USD&utm_source=criteo&utm_medium=cpc&utm_content=all&utm_campaign=lights-lighting-US
  15. I own two of these little LED flashlights that I paid $29 for and they are awesome. At $19, it's a great buy. They are very bright, 7 mode programmable memory, and come in three light colors: yellowish, neutral, and cool white. It's a floody, wide beam with a center hot spot. I just ignore lumen ratings, since they can be all over the place, but it's close to being as bright as a single car headlight on low beam. Indoors pointed at the ceiling, it's about the same brightness as a 75w lightbulb. The thing I really like is that it has a firefly mode, which is about as bright as a single match. BLF stands for Budget Light Forum, an online forum on flashlights. It was set up initially as a group buy a couple years ago, but the light has been very popular. build quality is very good. You can find the programming instructions over at Budget Light Forum. Trust me, you'll never figure it out on your own. They use 18650 rechargeable batteries, but you can also use 2 CR123 batteries. If you have an old broken laptop, you can rip open the battery pack and find 6 18650 batteries. In my experience, 4 of the 6 batteries are still good even if it is many years old. http://www.banggood.com/BLF-A6-XPL-1600LM-7-4modes-EDC-LED-Flashlight-p-991823.html?rmmds=search Don't accept the default setting of standard shipping or it will take a month to get here. Use the drop down menu to select priority direct mail for $1.17. It should arrive in about two weeks.
  16. UPDATE: For me, this is not a rapid draw holster. But then, high concealment and rapid draw are somewhat incompatible. I can draw faster from a OWB holster at 3 o'clock, but I prefer the more hidden 5 o'clock position. If you carry a spare mag AND you want to carry it in this holster, you'll have to learn to cross draw the mag. This is not a concern for me. First, I can reach it,. Second, I don't carry a spare mag. After a week, this is now my favorite holster. Now that I can see how they are made, I intend to fabricate another one to keep my car gun in.
  17. Holster arrived two days ago. I've worn it with the S&W Shield and Taurus 709 Slim. Here's my thoughts so far. My two main concerns prior to getting it are without merit. The extra material doesn't seem to adversely affect the comfort level with smaller compacts. The Velcro can be easily cut down to fit my 30 inch waist. PRO It's easy to put on and take off. It works great with sweat pants or anything without a belt. This alone is a huge plus for me and justifies buying it. It's reasonably comfortable. It's not to the point that I don't know it's there, however. Everything fits so far, except a couple of handguns with lasers. I haven't tried it with a 1911 or the KelTec P3AT yet. It can be worn IWB or OWB. The workmanship is high quality. It's relatively easy to use the toilet, especially compared to other IWB holsters I've tried. CON Pricey When wearing it over a t-shirt, the belt shows over the top of my jeans in front. I guess that's more of a wardrobe issue. Still... The jury is still out on rapid drawing. I think that might also be a wardrobe issue. I need to experiment a bit more to find out.
  18. I emailed the company. The reply assured me that it would fit. It comes with instructions of how to cut it down to fit my smaller waist (30"). I ordered the holster, but I still have two concerns. 1. A holster that is big enough to hold a full size gun is going to have a lot of wasted material when used for the smaller compacts I prefer to carry. That extra material is going to be uncomfortable when sitting down, driving, etc. 2. The vecro won't really cut down to fit or won't connect properly when I cut it down from its maximum length to something I can wear. It shipped today so I'll know next week. My seamstress can sew the ends if necessary.
  19. I was in Jackson's Liquors in Ashland City when I noticed the guy in another line had a pint of something that was frosting over with ice. He'd obviously gotten it from the freezer with those hip pocket bottles in it. I asked about it and he said is was a favorite liquor when he was in the Navy. The guy behind me chimed in that the he drank a lot of it when he was in the Navy. I turned to check him out. He was an obviously long term hard drinker... bulbous red nose and squinty, watery eyes. He looked like W. C. Fields on a really bad day. After putting my wine in the car, on a whim I went back in to buy a bottle. I mean, how often do you get to try a liquor recommended by a sailor and an old drunk at the same time? If nothing else, it would be a good story to tell. I decided to get a fifth instead of a pint. When I finally found it on the bottom shelf, it was only $7.99 a fifth! So I bought a bottle, brought it home and put it in the freezer. I'm thinking... this is going to be really bad. When I tried it, it was surprisingly not awful. Not great, but not bad either. In fact, I've had many worse whiskeys that cost more. What is it, you ask? LTD Canadian whiskey.
  20. Many years ago, a previous employer had a policy of no guns in the building or parking lot. I just parked in the next building's parking lot and walked an extra hundred feet.
  21. Voted today at 9am. No line. Just walked in and out.
  22. I sent them an email asking if the belt would fit me. I'm 29-30" waist. I don't want to have a foot of overlapping Velcro to fasten every time I put it on.
