  1. Anheuser Busch pays the NFL $1.4 Billion to be the official beer of the NFL through 2022. If they start losing millions in beer sales, they will turn the screws on the NFL to stop this nonsense. Boycott Anheuser Busch
  2. Anheuser Busch is a big sponsor of the NFL. Call 1-800-DIAL BUD (342-5283) and press 1 for their stand on the NFL and then leave a message. I told them I was boycotting Anheuser Busch products and urging my friends to boycott them as well. They sell bud, bud light, michelob, stella artois, and a few other craft brands. Please feel free to copy and paste this to your other forums and Facebook.
  3. Somehow, I think the US Army will get the message without your call.
  4. It's not enough to boycott the NFL. Everyone should boycott every brand that advertises during NFL games. Here is the list. If you're a vet or a USAA member, as I am, you should definitely contact USAA directly and ask them to cut their affiliation with the NFL. Look at the list of products made by Proctor and Gamble and avoid buying them. Call the Anhauser Busch (Bud, Bud Light, etc) Help Line, press 1, and when asked to leave a message tell they, "I am boycotting all Anhauser Busch products as long as the company continues to sponsor NFL games. I'm also asking my friends on all forums to join me in boycotting your products.) Don't use those exact words, but you get the idea. http://newlypress.com/here-are-the-nfls-25-corporate-sponsors-boycott-time.html
  5. I'm helping a friend fix up a rental house. The flooring is a laminate that looks like hardwood. It's several years old, but it's still in good shape except for a slight warp in one sheet. You can feel it settle about an eighth inch when you walk over it. It's not enough to be visible to the eye, even when looking very closely. The place where you feel the bubbling is only about a 6" circle. The problem is that it's a few feet in front of a doorway between rooms so you feel it every time you walk from room to room. When I looked online for a fix, everyone recommended starting at a wall and removing laminate to get to the warped piece. Then, replace it with a new sheet. That's not going to happen because it's unlikely that I can find an exact match, plus it's a major undertaking and I'd probably break some more laminate removing it. I'd most likely have to replace the laminate for the entire 16x16 floor. Surely there is an easier fix.

    Bob Corker

    Marsha Blackburn for Corker's seat.
  7. Since we're talking flashlights (and since this forum has been so nice in answering questions about all sorts of things for me) here is my favorite flashlight... the BLF A6. It's built to specs set by the Budget Light Forum and on turbo mode is about as bright as a single car headlight on low beam. It's bright enough to tell dog or deer at 120 yards. I prefer the cool white LED (the 1A), but I have all three colors. I posted on BLF forum back in March if anyone could suggest a better flashlight for the money and the responses were that this is the best light you can buy for the price. If you're patient and wait, you can sometimes buy this light for $19.95, but I paid somewhere in the twenties for mine. It has a 7/4 mode computer. On the 7 modes, it's firefly, low and then increasing up to 100% and finally turbo. It uses 18650 rechargeable batteries. You'll have to spend $80 or more to get an equivalent LED flashlight. A good 18650 battery will cost about $10 plus another $10-$20 for a charger. I cannibalized an old laptop battery pack to get six 18650 batteries. https://www.banggood.com/BLF-A6-XPL-1600LM-7-4modes-EDC-LED-Flashlight-p-991823.html?rmmds=search Edit: Discount of 30% with the code 2017FNL, according to the Banggood ad. That would put this light in the $20 range. Edit again: I just bought the non-anodized model (silver) for $18.86. Shipping takes about two weeks.
  8. A friend of mine bought a new pressure washer. Apparently, it is very hard to pull the rope to start it. I haven't tried it myself, so I don't know if it's really hard to start. Maybe it's just a lack of upper body strength, but I was wondering... will it get easier to pull start as the engine gets a few hours on it? Is there anything I can do to help make it easier to pull? Hopefully, I'll get by to check it out personally in the next few days.
  9. Gillette, possession of hi cap magazines is illegal in NY.
  10. Here's a pic of the UltiClips on a handmade holster for the G2. As you probably can guess, I don't care what it looks like.
  11. Check out UltiClips. These fasteners replace the stock clip on holsters, which you then clip on to the waistband of your pants instead of the belt. Of course, you still need to wear a good belt, but the perfect belt is unnecessary. The pro is the holster does NOT move once you clip it on and you can use it with most normal belts. The con is also that it does not move once you clip it on so you can't shift it around when seated, which might be uncomfortable while driving a car. FWIW, I make my own holsters out of leather (inside) and Kydex (outside). I'm a skinny guy, and almost every holster I've owned was uncomfortable. Kydex is pretty easy to mold once you get the hang of it. I'm sure there are YouTube videos on how to do this. If you mess up, you just start over with another sheet of Kydex.
  12. It's too bad that motorcycle manufacturers took so long to wake up the the fact that not all riders want an 800 pound, chrome laden behemoth that costs as much as a compact car.
  13. KyGunCo.com has the Taurus 709 Slim for $167 and the Taurus Millennium G2 for $203. I have both. The G2 has gotten great reviews.
  14. I'm traveling to Peoria for a birthday, so this thread is pretty timely. Thanks for the advice.
  15. Hall, you should know that it is against the law for you as a minor to sell, possess, or own a handgun (that is, a pistol or revolver). If your grandfather has any handguns, you need to get your dad to set up a benefactor account here if you want to sell them on this website. You should also know that the federal government and anti-gun activists monitor firearm websites like this one to find any wrongdoing. As a result, it is absolutely essential that you follow the letter of the law when selling firearms. It would be best if your dad set up an account to sell whatever firearms your family wants to part with. You can of course help him with uploading pictures and so on.
  16. Years ago, I gave up on regular mowers and went to a small tractor with a 60" finishing mower. All the chaff is behind me instead of blowing up in my face like with the typical belly mower lawn tractor. This summer, I upgraded to a big tractor with a 72" finishing mower.
  17. A used rim is a good way to go. Lots of guys upgrade their wheels and their old wheels are still perfectly good if your LBS has them.
  18. Tennessee law says this. Here's my question. What constitutes displaying a deadly weapon when it comes to handguns? Specifically, if you remove a clip on holster, hold the holster in your left hand, and cover the weapon with your right hand while making no threatening statements, does that meet this definition? I'm not trying to be cute here. I actually saw a neighbor do this when approaching a strange car on his property.
  19. I'm guessing you have a spoke tension and/or wheel problem, but I don't think I'd put much money into repairing this. You could put $100 or more into repairing a wheel and have...what... a $300 bike? I'd just get it fixed as cheaply as possible, sell it, and buy a nicer bike, but that's just me. Some guys here buy $400 1911s and some buy $2,000 1911s.
  20. I don't lose my knife while carrying it. I lose it when I get home and lay it somewhere when I clean my pockets.
  21. I'm looking for tips. How do you guys manage to EDC small knives? I lose pretty much everything at least once a week... car keys, glasses, knife. Do you put it in a particular spot or what? As a result, I tend to carry cheap knives, but I'd like to carry a nicer one.
  22. And here's the VW mirror in the Mercedes. It not as big as it looks. It's only an inch wider than the old mirror.
  23. I didn't find a Mercedes with auto dimmer, but I found the VW Passat mirror will fit on the same mount... upside down. I think I'll remove the old mount and install a universal mirror mount and mirror. By the way, it was really fun to walk through the salvage yard. If you have some mechanical skills you can pull your own part and save a ton of money.
  24. Thanks, Bersaguy, I knew someone here would be able to help. I tried a star-point screwdriver that's 5mm wide and sure enough, when I wiggled it back and forth, was able to twist it 90 degrees and the mirror came off. I think I just couldn't get enough leverage using a tiny hex wrench. Now I need to remove the old mirror mount or find an auto dimming model at PullaPart down the road from me. I headed out now..
  25. I promised a friend I'd replace the inside and driver's side mirrors on her 99 Mercedes SLK230. Here's the problem. For the inside mirror, the manual says, "Insert a 5mm iron round in the slot and rotate the base 90 degrees left or right. I've tried that with a 5m hex wrench, but it won't budge. I'm afraid to exert a lot of pressure because I don't want to break the windshield. I don't know what the 5mm round is supposed to do. You can see the little notch in the slot, but I can't feel it move up or down when I push on it. So... two questions. How can i get this inside mirror off? Or... How can I cut and glue a mirror over the old mirror? A friend suggested that. It never occurred to me. By the way, the dealership quoted the owner $400 to replace the inside rear view mirror!
