At the risk of really making some people mad, it seems to me the solution would be to profile these shooters and restrict their access to firearms. This would mean raising the age to own a semiautomatic weapon or any handgun to 26 and older. People under 26 could own single shot rifles and shotguns.

I have a friend who has approached me about getting her HCP. I've posted another thread on that. Here's my question. What handgun would you suggest and what carry method would you recommend? She grew up around guns and shot them as a child, but that was decades ago. Here's some background. Athletic, small frame, small hands, 5'4", 120 pounds. Tends to wear mostly yoga pants in winter and running shorts/tights in summer, so there's no belt to support a heavy firearm. She has no children at home and none visiting. Cost isn't a primary consideration. Her purse is one of those big, expensive things that look like a shopping bag.

I have a friend who is interested in getting her HCP. Who would you recommend in the Greater Nashville area? Depending on what's covered in the class, I think a self defense handgun class would also be a good idea. Again, who would you recommend?

How much light do you need? What battery size do you prefer? For a AAA keychain light, the Astrolux A01 is hard to beat at $9.95. It has four modes, very low, med, high, and strobe. I use rechargeable batteries. I like it better than my Thrunite Ti3. https://www.banggood.com/Astrolux-A01-Nichia-219B-102LM-AAA-Mini-Waterproof-Keychain-EDC-LED-Flashlight-p-1026854.html?rmmds=search&cur_warehouse=CN For an 18650 battery LED flashlight, you can't beat the BLF A6 at its pricepoint. It has 7 modes, including a firefly super low and a turbo high. It is the brightest 18650 LED flashlight I've ever owned. It's currently $26.95, but every few weeks, it's on sale for $19.95. Turbo only lasts for about 2 minutes before it automatically drops down to high, but it is bright! It's roughly as bright as one car headlight beam on low. The 1A cool white LED bulb is the brightest. The 5A very yellow light is too yellow. I don't care for the yellow light. It looks dim to me. https://www.banggood.com/BLF-A6-XPL-1600LM-7-4modes-EDC-LED-Flashlight-p-991823.html?rmmds=search&ID=518106&cur_warehouse=CN I don't like AA LED lights, but I own several, keeping one in the door pocket of my cars, my tool box, and my gym bag because they're cheap. I prefer the ones with a head that slides in and out to narrow the beam for distance use. Something like this one for about $6. Avoid the really cheap ones for $2-$3. They're junk. On the other hand, even these are better than most of those 3-AAA LED lights sold in WalMart and Home Depot. https://www.banggood.com/Elfeland-Q5-3-Modes-Zoomable-LED-Flashlight-AA14500-p-1090778.html?rmmds=detail-left-hotproducts__4&cur_warehouse=CN All my lights have tail switches, except the AAA lights, which are all twisties. I recently bought a light with a side switch and seem to fumble forever to find the switch in the dark.

Even after reading some of the online reviews, I lack sufficient knowledge about this handgun to see why everyone thinks it's so great. Can anyone enlighten me? On the other hand, if I carried a gun that weighed 34 ounces empty, I might be able to cancel my gym membership.

If it had a large manual safety like the P938, I'd be in line to buy one.

Prayers sent for a speedy recovery.

Nice looking little gun and very light compared to the Sig P238. I'd consider buying one. The knock against these micro guns is that most of them (LCP, TCP, P3AT) have long triggers that reduce accuracy. A single action would solve this problem and it looks like the tang is big enough to protect big hands from getting pinched. Still, for another 4.5 ounces, you could carry a P938 in 9mm. I wonder how bulky it is compared to the LCP, TCP, et al?

I'm halfway through season 4 in Longmire and just finished book 5 of the 11 book Longmire series. I enjoy the series, but the audiobooks are better. The characters are fleshed out better and the endings are less formulaic. If you set up an online library account, you can download the first several audiobooks free. They're about 8 hours long. I download them to my phone and listen while driving, working out, or doing errands around the house.

Companies don't announce in advance of going Chapter 11, so it could happen suddenly. If they have hope of surviving, they wouldn't stop rebates because if they did, word would get out and almost everyone would quit buying Remingtons. On the other hand, they would probably stop rebates if the execs decided to go Chapter 11 in a month or two because it would take longer than that for word to get out that they weren't honoring rebates. I'm not saying they're lying. It's just a hard business decision. Anyway, for another $100, there are nicer guns... the Canik TP9, for example. I just got one for $309 from RK. Or the Taurus G2 Millennium has good reviews and it can be found for $199 occasionally.

I'd buy an RP9 for $199, but it's actually $299 and you have to send in to Remington for the rebate. I don't trust Remington to send the rebate, especially with them suffering financial problems.

I'm on the 2nd audiobook in the Longmire series and near the end of Season 2 on Netflix. I'd recommend both.

A bit of movie trivia. This was a 21 foot fall onto an airbag. The stunt told Alan Rickman he would drop him on the count of three, but he dropped him at 2... hence, we get a genuine startled reaction and a classic movie scene.

The best solution would be to buy some Kydex, leather, Chicago screws, and clips and make your own holster. After being disappointed in many commercial holsters, I bought a DIY kit and made my own. It was okay, but I'm a skinny guy so it still didn't quite fit me. Then, I bought the above materials and made my own holster from scratch... leather against the body and Kydex on the outside. If the tilt isn't quite right, I just punch another hole and move the clips.

He said it was an older computer. Windows 10 was installed about a year ago. The display problem started recently. Since Windows 10 releases a new build every few weeks, it could be a problem with the update being incompatible with the old driver for the graphics card. Or, the graphics card could have failed. Either way, a fix would be to replace the graphics card with a used, but newer graphics card. Or, just replace the computer. I'm not a fan of fixing older computers when you can buy a new last year's model on clearance cheap. By cheap, I mean less than $300 for a laptop. I haven't used a desktop computer in nearly ten years.

If you have your original license key that came in the paperwork when you bought the computer, you can reinstall Windows 7. You might have a DVD with Windows 7 on it, but more likely, it was something you had to request after you bought the desktop. Most computers shipped without a physical copy of Windows on DVD to save a few pennies since most users would never use it. You can buy a license key on eBay. There are torrents where you can download Windows 7, but it will only work a few days before you have to register it with the license key. FWIW, you can buy a decent entry level laptop for about $250 in the after Christmas sales. I routinely buy a new laptop every two years.

One of the problems with Windows 10 is that it doesn't work well with older computers. Is this a desktop computer? How old is it? If it's several years old, you could probably buy a newer used graphics card for $8-$20 on eBay.

RKGuns has the HI Point Carbine for $239 right now. I forget if it is the 45 or the 9mm. I'd love to have a cheap Hi Point so I could play around with cerakote with no real fear of ruining the value of the gun. EDITED: It's a special on their email. In store only from Dec 3-9 as long as supplies last. $237.95 in 9mm.

Okay, I'm guessing it's a problem with the Windows 10 update not being compatible with your graphics card. Not sure what to do about that.

New Job,New dress attire, new knife needed

There's a newer model. I think this one might be discontinued. FWIW, I also carry a Spyderco pen knife on my keychain and a cheap folder in the driver's door pocket. -

You probably want a more expensive knife, but I carry a SOG Access Card 2.0 as a money clip. It weighs only 1.8 ounces. Using it as a money clip makes it very hard for me to lose. I've owned it for four years, whereas I've misplaced most pocket knives. -
You are a good soul. Best of luck to you and Darby.

She should be able to make it to 5am. You don't want to build a habit of her going at 2am. Oh, we use puppy pee pads downstairs, just in case one of our dogs gets diarrhea or needs to go in the middle of the night, they will go on the pad instead of on the floor.

I'm hopeful that Darby will work out for you. I wish more dog owners were as responsible as you in trying to find the right fit for their lifestyle.

I just saw this question. In the current version of Windows 10... Get to the desktop. Right click on the desktop. Scroll down to display settings. Left click on display settings. Click on resolution Select the one with (recommended) after it. If none say (recommended), select the highest setting. On my laptop, it's 1366x768. Click "Keep changes" If you don't know how to get to the desktop, you can get to display settings from the default "Modern Design UI" that shows when you boot up Windows 10. Post back here and I'll ferret out the clicks to get there. Of course, it could just be that a new update of Windows 10 doesn't work with your graphics card.
