  1. The date of that action was Apr 25, '67. Today is Apr 25, 55 yrs later. He passed on the 23rd. Kinda spooky being that close.
  2. I got the bad news I had been expecting & dreading this afternoon. Ken Stumpfs' son called to tell me he had passed today about 2:30 pm. As I said before, he was a good man, friend, & soldier. He will be missed. Not a day went by I didn't think of him. At least he is no longer suffering. Rest in peace, Stumpy.
  3. I think it would be more comfortable getting shot.
  4. Hardly put the blame for the above on the mower. Don't put yourself in harm's way. If you're mowing on a slope, a more aggressive tire would be a good start, plus a wider stance. I DO NOT mow when wet, for several reasons.
  5. You're right about that. $ 3.84 is still too hard on my budget. Until all the oil valves are open, it's not going to change much, and the oil folks don't have much incentive to do that. My F150 has a 36 gal tank.
  6. $ 3.84 at Murphy , Lebanon, this am
  7. Actually, just saw on FB, that Chevrolet is giving his family a 2022 Chevy truck, loaded, to replace the damaged truck.
  8. Check out the Henry line. They have 'em
  9. I've got a Hustler I've had for 6 years, heavy steel welded deck, 24 HP Kohler engine. I've had zero issues with the engine, or anything else. Service it myself. I've owned several Kohler engines, never had a problem with any of them. It's not commercial grade, mowing 1.34 acres, some of it rough.
  10. Japaleno pepper has the same effect at that body part. Been there, done that (once).
  11. I had one back in the day , very good gun. Traded it for a Glock because it was what our Dept. was carrying.one of the worst mistakes I've made. Should have kept it Carrying a Walther PPS M2 with red dot. GLWS
  12. So he says. I doubt if they've got dug out yet.
  13. We always called him Stumpy. Little funny on him, he drove down from Tomah, Wi twice to visit, stayed a week both times. I asked him if he was ever wounded. He said once. I asked where, he said like Forrest Gump. In the buttocks, LOL. He left the Army, awarded the CMOH, and the Army talked him into coming back. He did, and they put him in recruiting. He hated that, asked to go back to his old unit in 'Nam. Wish granted. Stayed in & Retired after 29 yrs as Sargent Major.
  14. I've got the same rifle. Very good gun. Made in USA, top notch customer service. Rarely needed. GLWS
  15. My squad leader in 'Nam, Kenneth E. Stumpf, a Medal of Honor recipient, has final stage pancreatic cancer. His son called me, said the dr. gave him 2 weeks. After I was severely wounded, he came in and got me out under fire, along with 2 other guys. I probably would have bled out if not for that. Hell of a guy & soldier. Heavy heart. He will be missed by all that knew him.
  16. Typical athlete / entertainer, that thinks the world can't survive without him. Ego!!
  17. Final count, 3" in Trousdale. Most of that is gone already. 29 deg. Wind chill 21.
  18. Just started a bit here in Trousdale Co.
  19. $3.99.9 / gal at Murphy in Lebanon this AM. ( $4 ) in real money.
  20. $3.69, Murphy @ Lebanon. Greed has no expiration date.
  21. I would vote for the Henry. Of course, I'm prejudiced.
  22. For some reason, I can't stop looking at that.
  23. No idea either, Mac. We've been down the OC/CC road like 3000 times.
  24. First of all, I love Cades Cove. My fav place on the planet. On my bucket list is to find & see Gregory's cave. Supposed to be back of John Oliver's cabin. I've yet to locate it. Next trip, I'm going to see if the Rangers can give me detailed instructions. I'll agree if you go during touring season, be prepared to spend a lot of time sitting still. Made the mistake of riding my motorcycle thru there in summer. Almost roasted. Also, driving the Dragon ain't no fun in a F150.
