  1. Gunwalker was one of the most ignorant schemes ever devised. I live for the day when they shut down the BATF. These folks have a history. Melson was "reassigned", not resigned. Atty. Gen Holder should be shipped out as well. The whole DOJ is a disgrace to the laws of the land. JMHO
  2. Yep, you gotta do it. Make sure your gun prints a bit & act nervous. LOL
  3. Cell phones are a great tool, like a screwdriver or pliers. Use as needed. When the phone controls everything you do, it's time to rethink, IMO. Mine racks up maybe 30 mins/mo. Between the phone & Facebook, my wife disappears from the planet. We don't have a house phone, never used it, got rid of it years ago. I work Courtroom security. Cell phones are not allowed inside. Folks hate to leave it elsewhere. Like pulling teeth, seriously. Bought mine for emergencies out on the road initially. Glad my wife has one for that. She is on the road often alone. Peace of mind for both of us. Now, it seems a phone is part PC, part chit chat. To each his/her own. Just seems to have gotten out of hand to me. JMHO
  4. Nothing personal here, because I don't know you, but this kind of setup is just way too risky, especially when you mentioned bringing several buddies along. You may find someone willing to do this, but as others have said, not likely. Find you something you can afford when you can, use public ranges 'til then. JMHO
  5. I don't know of a fitting punishment for this pile of crap either. But I'd like the opportunity to try!
  6. I had a 357 Sig in a box of 40 S&W a few months ago.
  7. Are they still charging $5 for parking? If not, I might venture down, otherwise no.
  8. According to their listing, RK Shows, Sept. 17 & 18......90 Volunteer Dr., Hendersonville. "Think" it's off Old Shackle Island Rd. Check their site, it has a map. If you have GPS, should be no problem.
  9. Robert, you just answered your own question.....too simple. Of course, the really simple solution would have been never to have dreamed up the opt out clause in the first place. Go figure....
  10. The last RK show in the 'boro was pretty good. No charge for parking, $10 admission, but as netmindr said, you can download a $1 off coupon from their ad. One word of warning on RKs shows. The one they have ( if it's still there ) in Franklin is a bust. Don't waste your time or money on this one. Started out great, went down the toilet.
  11. Like everything else, you'll get varying opinions on Goodman. My take is that Goodmans show has been declining. Crowd down, dealers down. Might find a deal on the private side. Also, last time I was there, which was last month, the Fair board was charging $5 for parking. This caused quite a stir among the show customers, self included. Admission is $8, total of $13 bucks to get into a $3 show. Not worth it to me. I'll wait for the show in Hendersonville in Sept. JMHO
  12. I have a XDm 40 full size. Good gun. Like it better than the Glock 22 I had previously. To each, his/her own, tho.
  13. LOL. Well, I never saw the point in not having a round in the chamber. Kinda like a $600 rock to me. Don't always have time to rack a slide when the SHTF.
  14. I agree, best deals are private on the floor or outside. I cringe when I see a gun store advertise "gun show prices". May be part of the gun show problem. One dealer I use to buy ammo from has doubled his former price on the ammo I used to buy. Walmart has the same thing for 1/2 that price. Can't buy from him anymore.
  15. From the description, I wouldn't want to go that route either. Plenty of good IWBs on the market that work & are safe. I'm surprised some nut hasn't devised one that ejects out at the push of a button & catch it in the air.
  16. Man, that's a really neat job, especially considering the materials & technique you used. Good old American ingenuity.
  17. Contacting them is a waste of time. RK couldn't care less about their customer base, evidently. They pulled the same stunt a few years ago when they used the old Walmart bldg. in Smyrna. Had a show scheduled there & advertised.....no show, no notice of cancellation. Sent them an e-mail expressing my thoughts on their handling of the situation...generic response. Gun shows, generally speaking, have begun to go down the toilet lately. Not sure whose fault that is, but everyone I talk to, including dealers say the same thing. Goodman's show, which is overpriced at $8, now costs $13, including parking of $5. I enjoys the shows, whether I buy or not, but they're quickly putting a bad taste in my mouth, and out of my budget. JMHO. FWIW
  18. This same hotel was on the news some time back. Guess they haven't got the hint.
  19. Yeah, I can relate to that. If I buy another gun anytime soon, she's gonna try it out on me. I can resist anything...except temptation. LOL
  20. Update....I along with several others, went to Gallatin this AM for the show. NO ONE there! Lots of unhappy campers. Sucks!!
  21. Did some more digging. Gallatin C of C has it listed in their calendar of events. Guess it's a go.
  22. I did see that mentioned either in print or TV, but can't find it now. The article in today's Tennessean didn't mention it, so.....maybe true or not. Can't always believe everything in the press, especially early on.
  23. Saw an ad on TV a day or so ago for a show in Gallatin. Anyone know for certain if this is correct. RK doesn't list it on their site..they're the one that usually has it. Cheaper Than Dirt has it listed on their site. Just curious, as I haven't seen it on the papers, etc.
  24. I'll agree. If I hadn't just bought a new Frankford kit about a year ago, I'd go with the tumbler/SS route. Can't justify changing at this point. The SS setup does an awesome job tho. I seen new brass that didn't look that good.
  25. Sights on the XD/XDm are extremely tight. Most sight pushers won't do the job. As others stated, banging with hammer & punch can damage tritium sights. I bought my Xdm at The Armory in Lebanon. It had standard sights, I had Trijicons installed on it. Matt installed them with a pusher he said cost $300 bucks. Anyway it worked.
