  1. Glad you enjoyed the trip & show. Know what you mean about the tumbler. I'd love to have one to use with stainless media. Just can't justify doing it right now. Just bought a Frankford Arsenal vibrating tumble not long ago. It'll probably outlast me. LOL
  2. Exactly. Age old rule, if you won't discipline yourself, someone else will do it for you. It's primarily parents job to keep kids in check. Failing that, someone else has to pick up the slack. I've seen a steady increase in Juveniles in court in our small county since I've been involved with it, in the past 4 yrs.
  3. I had one of the earlier P99s, somewhere around 2003. Very good gun. Currently own ( recently bought ), a PPQ in 40. Love it, awesome trigger & reset. As Ropinforgold said, mags are expensive....if you an find them. $50 - $60 bucks for the PPQ. As for aftermarket sights, Trijicon & Meprolight are the only two mfgs. at the present. I have the Trijicon WP01Y, green front, yellow rear, on mine. work great. The P99 is currently offered in two versions, P99AS & P99QA. If you're interested in going with Walther, be sure to visit the Walther forum. Loads of good info & reviews from users there. http://www.waltherforums.com/forum/ I went with the PPQ mainly due to the trigger system. 5.5 lb pull, or less, .400 in. travel, .100 in reset. Check out the specs for each & decide which fits your personal needs. Can't go wrong with either. Everyone that's tried mine, jaw dropped. No joke. Good luck.
  4. Just got back from the show. Overall, good show, better than I expected. Good location, room between the isles to walk. Saw a few empty tables, not many. Some beef jerky, etc, not excessive. Didn't find anything to take home with me. Roughly the size of Goodmans show, maybe a bit less. Lots of fans going. kept it cool, at least while I was there. Restrooms...ok. Didn't visit the concessions.
  5. A more careful review before putting this into law? This subject was brought up last year. They have had two years to get it figured out & still can't get the hang of it. This has nothing to do with Florida or SYG laws. It has to do with the big bucks business dropped into lawmakers coffers. Harwell couldn't find the 2nd Amend. with Google, Ramsey just flat lied about his support, Haslam is grinning like a possum because he didn't have to deal with signing or vetoing it. This isn't eminent domain, this is about a person protecting their life to & from work vs some Liberals parking lot. Without the 2nd Amend., there would be no parking lot.
  6. The Dems that voted for it are trying to garner votes next election. They are not our friend. Wolf in sheeps clothing.
  7. Just a bit of clarification, for JayC. Some courthouses are set up to work the entire courthouse as a unit. Once you go thru security at the door, you're free to go anywhere in the courthouse you need. Ours is an old building that doesnt lend itself well to that, nor do we have the resources to do that. The above buildings, mostly newer, have one entrance. Ours has two. We don't have the staff to man both doors. Not an ideal situation, but the hand that's dealt. The "courtroom" is the only place provided "security". County Commission & funds are the bottle neck here.
  8. I'll agree with Greg, W'moreland is a small town, so I don't know what to expect either due to that. I plan to be there as well, out of curisoity, if nothing else to see how it goes. I did get a card in the mail with the dates, etc. Not sure how they got my address & full name ( HCP ? ), so the date should be legit. If I was driving 1.5 hrs from Morristown, probably wouldn't take a chance on it. Shot in the dark. Guy by the name of Donnie Daniels is promoting it, not familiar with that name. $5 admission. That area's my old stomping ground, might as well have a look.
  9. Obviously, Haslam, Ramsey, & Harwell have sold their collective souls to business. As some of the previous posts suggest, they have lied to us. Time to get out the broom & mop & clean House, Senate & Mansion. We knew going in the Haslam & Harwell weren't going to be in our court. Ramsey is no more than a turncoat.
  10. There are vending machines in the courthouse. The rule applies to the courtroom, not the courthouse. Judges will take a lunch break if it goes that long, usually to a restaurant away from the courthouse. FWIW, our vending mahines aren't a great option. Officers of the court, judges, attorneys, clerks, are an exception to the rule, as a courtesy. It can be revoked, if abused. I don't make the rules, just enforce them. Personally, I don't like exceptions.
  11. That's been a rule in the courthouse for as long as I can remember, even before the courtroom security program started. Not so much security, as to keep folks from trashing the place. Have no idea who started it, but you could be right about the robe. Since by state law the Sheriff is charge of the court "room", could have been there. The County Exec ( Mayor ), or whatever title is used in the county, is in charge of court "house" security.
  12. That's where I'd start as well.
  13. I work courtroom security in Trousdale Co. Not all follow the same procedure. I get the " I don't have to do that in _____ county.", all the time. In ours there are no cellphones allowed, purses, knives, guns ( of course), food , drinks, etc. Some are more lax, due to individual dept. policies, laziness, etc. The tool bag would have gotten a thorough check.
  14. Sounds like a bad ground to me as well. They can be a real pain in the butt to find. Keep digging. These things will drive you nuts, whether it's a boat or something else.
  15. He could always pay for the vacation trips out of his own pocket. Might alter his plans a bit. Air Force One costs a mint every time it lifts off.
  16. I keep loaded guns all over my house. No kids here. In the event kids are coming to the house, all guns are unloaded or secure. KIds are curious, Some aren't taught not to handle guns. Mine was & there never was an issue. Better to go the extra mile when kids are around. Applies to some adults as well.
  17. "if you've ever stood in your backyard, and shot bumblebees with a pistol,".............
  18. I'm planning on having a look at the Westmoreland show as well. First one there as far as I know. Interested to see how this goes. That's my old stomping ground anyway, not far away, about 20 mi. or so. $5 admiss. Not a lot to lose, compared to Fairgrnds.
  19. Rem. UMC target, w/ nickel plated brass. Just wanted to try a box or two & see how it works compared to the reg. UMC. I checked prices online, and they were decent, but when you add shipping & handling, not so good. I know gun show prices are high, but was only wanting a couple for a trial run. S&H is a bit more than one box of ammo. There was some at the show, but not in 40. May have to make another run to Guns & Leather, when I'm near there.
  20. That's excatly what he wants to do. Kill off the fairgrds., so he can sell it off to his developers waiting in the wings. $13 is a rip off, expecially at this show. I went early this AM, was disappointed. Low crowd, somew dealers not there, the older gent that usually has the large book display, was down to about half his usual table room. A lot of the usual flea mkt crap tho. All I could find worth the effort was some silhoutte targets I was getting low on. Didn't find the ammo I was looking for, went by Bass Pro, no luck there either. Yuk!!
  21. I totally agree, as does everyone else I suppose. A total of $13 to get into a show of this size is robbery. Of course, we all have the option of not "reaching for the sky" when instructed. Problem is, there are just not many quality shows in this area. The Murfreesboro show you mention. promoted by RK, is one weird puppy. Their website lists no show until Oct. Recently, The Tenn Gun Show list had a listing for this month. It has now disappeared for the list, as has Hendersonville. As some may have learned the hard way, as I have, RK is notorious for screwing around with show schedules & giving no notifiation. Suggest before you plan to attend any RK show in the area, make dang sure there is one. Bad news is, the good shows, Tulsa, B'ham. Atlanta, etc., are a bit far for some or most of us to travel. Grab a tube of KY & bend over.
  22. New to reloading, I'd start with the ABCs Of Reloading & maybe Lee's book, plus whatever manual goes with the bullets you're using. I have the Sierra & Hornady. Lots of good info in any of them. As someone else said, there's lots of good free info on the 'net as well, from manufacturers.
  23. Apri. 14 & 15 at the NAshville Fairgrounds. Guess I'll go, in spite of the $8 admission & $5 parking ( sucks ). Looking for some ammo & any other deals that might show up.
  24. Hope you get it back, but don't count too heavily on it. I had a Dan Wesson like the one mentioned in the OP, along with a Remington model 742BDL 30/06, ammo, knife, etc. stolen from my Bronco, back in the mid 80's. Never saw them again. Still carry the serial #s in my wallet & check at each gun show if I see one on the table. No such luck.....so far. Hopefully, your situation will turn out better than mine. Never give up looking. I still am.
