  1. Dolomite is right. You probably won't notice any decline in your hearing, except in extreme cases, but it will accumulate over the years. Personally, I used to never use hearing protection when target shooting, so, that combined with bombs, firefights, grenades in "Nam, etc., I now wear two hearing aids. Of course, age adds to the mix. Use protection when you can, when you're young. I got too late of a start.
  2.    They very well might, however, golf & softball guys don't require background cks. to buy equipment @ $10  a pop, or pay thru the nose for a permit to play. Rather skinny leg to stand on.
  3. In a perfect setting, they should support both. In the real world, well, you know...............
  4.  It would be a great thing for buyers and dealers as well. Save about $50 on a $500 gun, etc.  Be hard to turn that down,  especially if you're itting on the fence about buying one.  Will be surprised if this passes. TN will lose money, they don't usually cater to ideas of that sort, Ex: background checks $10,  HCP, & so on.  Be interesting to see how this shakes out. The holding of breath is not advised. lol
  5. I watch North Woods Law quite often good show. Also, there is Wild Justice about the wardens in Cal. TWRA authority is quite extensive. They can go anywhere in the state to enforce whatever comes. I've even had 'em show up when we had a problem at the jail. If they have probable cause, they can search your property w/o a warrant. If you're hunting/fishing, etc., they can search your vehicle. Goes beyond the usual LEO boundaries.
  6. Deprime with universal de-cap die Tumble with SS Thumlers Tumbler, clean inside & out ( 1/4 tsp Lemishine, 2 tbls Dawn ) Neck size using powdered lube, wipe off with a rag, does no harm to powder or primer Little muss or fuss, about as easy as it gets. FL is a different animal, haven't had the need so, don't.
  7.  Always been my view that it's the job of the defense to limit the opponents scoring. JMHO
  8.    I'm sure it is. Just finished loading 100 rds of .308. Funny thing tho, the standard handle that comes with it was a bit long for what I am doing now, so I ordered the short handle yesterday. After I started seating ( have the Forster Ultra Micometer seat die ), & decided to remove the handle & just use the yoke alone. Worked fine no effort at all, LOL. Everything about this press is so easy. Only way it could be easier if someone else did it for me. Changing a die takes maybe 1 or 2 seconds. Should have done this a long time ago. Oh, well. Live & learn.
  9.      You got that right. Just did a small amount of .308 I had shot, 15 or so. Neck sized & de-capped. Just to try it out a bit. I can work the handle with my trigger finger alone, no effort. Like the spent primer catcher too, drops down a tube into the cup. Not on the floor or wherever.  I'm using Imperial dry lube, works great, wipe it off & move on. Graphite does get into your skin tho, may have to use latex gloves. Not that my paws have never been dirty before. I'm well pleased, to say the least.
  10. Update, got the press today. Awesome press. Some great engineering went into this press. Completely different from any other out there. Got it mounted & set up for neck size/decap, for now. Nothing like a new toy to play with, especially if it involves reloading/guns, LOL Another bonus, no shipping/handling, etc. Now i've got something to do in this cold weather ahead.
  11. Bottom line is, the one in the pipe is the only one that counts. Everything else is backup.
  12. Ugly doesn't count, LOL. As long as it works, that's as good as it gets.
  13. The old saying still holds true, "Better to have it & not need it, than to need it & not have it". A weapon isn't much good if you can't use it.
  14.    I've said this several times before, and it's happened several time before, once the dust settles form the latest VA scandal, and the politicians have all had their photo-ops, it'll disappear ffrom the news, and nothing worthwhile will be done. I was involved in the "colonoscopy" scandal. Fortunately for me, mine turned out ok. Some weren't as lucky. The VA medical debacle is too extensive to "fix". Way too many people involved & watching each others back. My solution would be to do away with VA medical facilities, and give each vet a card to go where they choose, and the VA pick up the tab. Other than that, give each vet the same medical coverage the Congress has. Not going to happen, just keep kicking the can down the road, getting more dents with each kick. I had the misfortune to have to spend 4 days in the VA @ M'boro last Apr.2014. It was a nightmare that left me worse than when I went in. Doctor was awful, nurses were good. Won't do that again. Anything serious, I'll go private. I have Tricare and Medicare, which should take care of most expenses. As another poster said, and it's true, the VA is a national disgrace. Vast majority of the doctors are foreign. Rare to see a white doctor @ the VA, M'boro or Nashville. The administrative leg of the VA is just as bad. Honestly had better care at the hospital in Quinhon in '67. As for waiting lists and claims, wait til we die, then no problems.
  15.    That's true. Everybody else seemed to be out of stock.  The kicker for me was the code they sent in an email newsletter. Free shipping to the lower 48. Nothing to sneeze at, lol. As everybody here knows, these days S/H is half the battle.  According to UPS, the press should be here Mon. 1/12. Rings coming via USPS 2nd day Priority, which I have learned thru their website, does not necessarily mean 2 days.  Not an issue this time, as I have some things to do before I use them anyway. You might want to get on their mail list. They have discounts about every week, of one sort or another.
  16. Little update, took inventory of my dies, decided I will need a few more rings, so I order a dozen from Gunstop, where I ordered the press from. Price is a bit cheaper there, as was shipping. Pretty good folks to do business with. Had bought several Forster dies from them. Shipping prompt & reasonable, plus they run discounts if you get on their email list.
  17. David, I'll take a couple. Gonna have to come up with a hat to stick 'em on tho.
  18. First I'd heard of them as well. Being a disabled combat vet myself (Nam), I hope it works out for them. According to their website, they'll take care of any issues. I have no experience with them, so can't vouch for that.
  19. Never had an issue with a reload primer. Have had on priner that did not fire, even after repeated tries. It was a Winchester 30-06 factory round. I've always stuck with CCI, or if not available, Federal. 12 out of 30 rds. is pretty bad. Hope Remington will help you out. The few times I've dealt with them on a quality issue, they were great.
  20. I have rings that came with the Forster dies. Likely, some of the cross-bolt type rings will fit, but not sure if they will work as well. Have to do some experimenting to see if they do. The die holder and the shell holder both have flexibility, so they self align both ways. Some die rings have a set screw that fits against the die thread, and can sometimes set cocked to one side slightly. The press should compensate for that. Regardless, I plan on using the Forster rings. May have to get more later for other dies. Thanks for the input guys. Altogether new type press for me. Any hints are welcome. Pride is in the bottom drawer, LOL
  21. Have ordered a Forster Co-Ax press. Had my eye on this for some time, finally decided to go ahead with it. Will be a big improvement over my decades old RCBS junior. Watched a demo on youtube & made up my mind for me. Going to be fun getting everything reset. May be here at the end of the week, or first of next. Not cheap compared to some, but built like a D-9 Cat., plus more accurate alignment. Feel free to chime in with opinions/experiences.
  22.    FWIW, "round" is a shape also., LOL
  23. From a cartoon in the paper:  "Last year I set a goal to lose 10 lbs. I've only got 13 lbs. to go ". That about sums it up for me. ;)
