  1. S&W is coming out with the Shield with the red dot already mounted. Other Shields will have to have the slide milled to accept to red dot. Not sure when they will hit shelves, might be something to check into if you leaning that direction. Still haven't got to sight mine in yet, too many other issues taking priority. I'll post the results/opinion when I get 'er done. Sorry, NickinTn. didn't mean to step on your post. It came up while I was typing.
  2. Same here. I'm doing it as a hobby/past time. I have more now, then I'll ever need. Don't have much opportunity or place to shoot as much as I'd like. Just enjoy doing it when I can't get outside to do stuff, due to weather, etc.
  3. Cool it may be, but I'm not into cool. My reason has to do with my eyesight. The red dot is easier to deal with, much like a crosshair on a scope. Only one thing to deal with. Is it for everybody? Not likely, but it's catching on fairly fast in some circles. Has nothing to do with the red dot, but I'm a diehard Walther fan.
  4. Your retired Military ID will work.
  5. Update, I looked this up, a military ID, or a valid passport is fine, also a gov. PIV ( Personal Identification Verification card ).
  6. Well, so far I like it. Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, been too busy with projects on the house. Did get the zero roughed in according to instructions. Anxious to get it fully zeroed & put some rounds down range. I'll let you know how it goes.
  7. I have an outside antenna. It picks up several channels, including locals. Most of them are junk. But aside from the cost of the antenna, cables, pole, the rest is free, so...... You should be able to pick up quite a bit in your location. Good luck.
  8. Thanks, that's the plan. The red dot is similar to a crosshair on a scope, only one thing to deal with. It takes some getting used to, as far as picking the dot up. Wearing tri-focal glasses is hard to find that sweet spot of the three. The sweet spot makes me have to tilt my head at an uncomfortable angle. Doable, but slow. Ok for paper, but not so great in a gun fight, too slow. We'll see how it goes. I'll give a report when I get it zeroed in, and some practice.
  9. This am, I ordered a new gun I've been wanting for a while. Walther PPS M2 RSMc 9mm. Has a Shield red dot sight with 4MOA dot. Should be here Thurs. or Fri. Anxious to say the least. Got zeroing to do. Sights co-witness with the iron sights, if needed. The dot stays on all the time & adjusts for light. We'll see how it goes, will take some getting used to. My old eyes, and tri-focal glasses, will, I think work better than with iron sights. Ordered from Lebanon Gun Shop, on Hartman Dr.
  10. Doug, glad to hear you're getting settled in in a nice home. As for the fiber optics, it takes a while. Finally got it out my way a few months ago, took about a couple of yrs. after I signed up to get it installed. Worth the wait, Verizon wireless sucks. The local electric utility co. got a grant to out it in Trousdale Co. Good luck buddy........
  11. You would think the Mil/VA ID would work.........., but just beause it makes sense, doesn't mean it will fly (pun ). Haven't been on a commercial aircraft since '68, don't plan to.
  12. Just wondering, if this is an attempt at a National ID, I already have a Retired Army ID card, which does not expire until I do, Plus, a VA ID card, that is national, as well. Would I need the TDL update to fly ( which I have no intention of doing ).?
  13. Hmmmmmm!
  14. Mostly from Reloaders Bench in Mt. Juliet. Some from Mid-South in Clarksville online. I'm pretty well stocked on ammo, thru a couple of good sized wars. The reloading I do now, is just to have something to to when I can't be outside.
  15. I have a crossbow I planning on listing for sale on TGO, but not sure which category it belongs in.......Firearms, gear, non firearms. Help......Larry, Thanks.
  16. At this point, it doesn't bode well for the suppressor crowd. Remains to be seen how this all shakes out. Bump stocks, suppressors, one piece at a time. Next, mags, barrels, triggers....? Personally, I have no need for either, maybe some do. I like my guns just the way they are. They shoot well, reliable, hit the target. That's all I ask for. JMHO
  17. Doug, I've used the Free version of AVG for years, and haven't had an issue. Who knows, tomorrow could change that. As others have posted, Windows Defender works quite well also. Overall, the best defense is you.
  18. Where there's a will, there's a way. I just hate to be outdone. You'll figure it out, hang in there pardner. I once had an Army doctor tell me I'd likely lose my right leg below the knee. I still have it, it keeps my butt off the ground quite well. Stubborn ole cuss, LOL.
  19. Prybar, I went thru the same thing a yr. ago. I'm right handed/ right shoulder surgery. I was out in the yard one day, decided to experiment. Got my BB pistol & a tin can, tossed it in the yd., shot with the left hand. Surprised, but did well. Eventually, tried my Walther PPS 9mm. same results. Did about as well with either. Bought a L. hand holster for it & carried it, til I got my other hand back. It does take about 12 mos. to get back to normal. It's a slow process, don't try to rush it & cause damage. BTW, I did figure out a way to use my zero turn with the sling on. Made an extension for the R. hand bar, kept on trucking. Good luck, I feel your pain.
  20. Same here. Totally agree. I use Wrangler, sometimes Rustler. I rarely ever participate in a fashion show anyway, LOL
  21. Not familiar with the G96 synthetic, but from experience, synthetic is far better than conventional oil in other applications. I've used it in all my engines, large & small, since the early 80's. May give it a try, & see how it goes.
  22. Agree, I have the PPQ M1 in 40 S&W. Trigger pull & reset is great. I'm carrying it right now, because the holster broke on my PPS M2 9mm. Ordered a new one from PJ holsters, should be here today. May end up selling the PPQ, don't really need two pistols.
  23. My 2010 F-150 has this. Readouts are a bit optimistic. Mine runs 1.5 MPG more than reality. I keep a log of every time I fill up, it comes out 1.5 less than the computer every time.
  24. Know nothing about the kit, but the .31 worked well back in the old West days.
