  1. As I said in an earlier post, I had the right one done 4 yrs ago. It was in bad shape. One tear had to be clipped & fastened back, plus some arthritis, and a bone spur. 3 mos. rehab. Takes about a year to get fully over it. Bad news now is that there's no one here but me to help out. I'm very good at improvising , so maybe I'll pull it off. Always something. Oh well. LOL
  2. The left shoulder has been giving me fits all year. Just trying to hold out till mowing season is over. Some teeth being gritted along the way, LOL
  3. Nah, wrong shoulder. I wouldn't dare shoot off that shoulder.
  4. I would love to do that, but right now I couldn't handle it. My back is giving me fits, and my left shoulder is likely going to have surgery soon. Think it's rotator cuff. Had the same on the right shoulder 4 yrs ago. That put me out of business for several months. Really appreciate the offer. Maybe we can get together & shoot the breeze sometime. I hate being limited to what I can do. Pain in the butt.
  5. So, Greg, what did you do today on your 1st day of retirement?
  6. Seems like a few bricks short of a load.
  7. You're right. I'll pass on the livers.
  8. Powder, primers in a garage outside, no temp control, bottle been opened. I'd toss it. JMHO. Like you said, the tools could be fixed with a lot of elbow grease.
  9. I stay away from any food I can't pronounce or spell. Includes food normally thought of as bait.
  10. Greg, get the notion out of your head, that you have to do something, or nothing to do. Believe me there will be plenty of things pop up to do. In the mean time, go fishing, hunting, or whatever you never found time for. It'll fix itself.
  11. True. I've seen that happen. Kinda takes you off your feed for a while.
  12. My Granny would eat squirrel brains. She came from a time where nothing was wasted. I always liked hog brains, cooked with scrambled eggs, hot biscuits.
  13. Rob, I don't know, just a guess, but brass dating that far back, it's anybody's guess how the brass was new. Speaking of mfg methods, etc. As for getting brittle with age, never read anything about that. Kinda doubt it, but JMHO
  14. Might as well go ahead, take the plunge, you know you're going to.
  15. I grew up( assuming I ever did), with an old Crescent Arms double, rabbit ear hammers, both bbls wide open. My Pa bought it used to bird hunt with, had my other Pa saw a couple inches off the bbls, hence no choke. I've killed lots of rabbits, squirrels with it, still have it, shoots good. Now, a safe Queen. Think it was made back in the 1930s.
  16. I did a little research some time ago. Found that taking the same bullet, you find a wide range of recommendations from different brand manuals. I've always used the manual to match the bullet, brand wise.
  17. That was my point about potential abuse.
  18. I do pretty much the same. Start in the middle, then work for best accuracy. I'm not interested in blazing speed.
  19. I've heard that too, never caught one in the act tho. LOL
  20. I have the Hornady 10th Ed. I agree with Quovadus, you should be ok with what you have.
  21. My 45/70 makes an "impression " on my shoulder as well. Actually, once it made a bruise that matched the imprint of the recoil pad. Lasted about 3 days. After 20 shots.
  22. I've been spending the down time working up a good reload. Came up with one that works great in this rifle. 3 rds @ 25 yds.
  23. Same here, neighbor, bought mine after the season last year. Same time the tornado came thru Lebanon.
