  1. Saw a lot in 'Nam I'll never forget, but the most amazing thing was "Puff The Magic Dragon" gunship. This was an AC47 modified with 2 General Electric miniguns in the left side of the plane. Capable of sending 6000 rds per minute to the ground ( usually 300 ). I could literally rain unholy hell down on the enemy. My first & only encounter was one Sun. nite, after we had been in a firefight all weekend. Finally finished that, just as we were getting ready to rest for the nite , we were ordered to go to the base of a mountain where B Co. was in a firefight in a village. We were to be a blocking force to prevent B Co from getting caught in a cross fire. Shortly, Puff showed up, and rained down fire on the enemy. One solid stream of fire from plane to the ground. Every 5 rds was a tracer. I'd heard about Puff during Infantry training, but this was simply awesome to see. Later, mods have been made. Now there is even a Howlitzer. Here's a screen shot of the firepower.
  2. I'm still waiting for a buffalo, but my hopes are dimming by the day, LOL Maybe a deer..........
  3. Mag on the same side looks like a cool idea until you need it, then a problem arises.
  4. LOL, me neither. Typo, 40.5 grs. Hate typing on this phone.
  5. I never saw one take off, but heard the bombing. Rolling thunder indeed. Saw the craters left afterward. Looked like a farm pond hole.
  6. Thst it will. We were on a mountaintop one day, and a bombing run was going on. A bird dog plane would fly over the valley where enemy supposed were, drop smoke to Mark the target, then the jets would come thru & drop their bombs. 1st one came right over our head, strafing with wing guns. That sound, sounded like the plane was coming apart. They would drop down in the valley, drop the bombs & be gone before the bomb hit ground, just be a speck in the sky, circle & do it again, over & over. Got to witness many things like that, you never see again in a lifetime.
  7. I asked my County Clerk about that in Aug. when I renewed mine. She said we get new ones next year.
  8. Dang, and we could have used your boat to get it back from Maui, LOL
  9. You got that right, never forget that sound. My house is in the flight path for Lifeflight, and Blackhawks, Chinooks. Vibrates the house. Neatest thing I've seen was last year, there were 2 Chinooks and a fueling aircraft, refueling in flight. Thing they were training, because they would circle & do it again. Took some video, still have it somewhere. Never seen that in person before. Quite a sight. Did I mention I love that stuff, LOL
  10. Did you make the trip to the Gulf?
  11. Impressive sight, to say the least. If it'll make you feel better, one nite we were guarding the Battalion base. I was on top of a bunker nursing a bad tooth. This tank pulled up on line, started firing harassment Into the jungle. Every time he would fire, it jarred the heck out of the bunker, started a toothache. Ended up having the tooth pulled that nite in a tent. I didn't get any sleep either, LOL This was in 1967. Ahhhhhh, the good old days.
  12. Last time I did this, $25 per person, min.2 passengers, for about 15 mins around Pigeon Forge area. Longer is available, dont recall the figures on that. Pretty much what you want.
  13. I'm still in the midst of reloading several hundred rounds. Just finished a batch of 50. Taking my own sweet time. Once they are all finished, I'm hanging up my press. This has turned into mostly hobby. I've got more than I'll ever need, barring an all out attack, or they allow drive by Buffalo hunting again. Just enjoy doing it, good for winter & rainy days. FYI, I'm using Hornady 300 gr. JHP, IMR 4198. 40.5 grs, new Starline brass trimmed to specs, CCI BR2 large rifle primers. Cheers......
  14. I think even if it wasn't fly worthy, it'd make a great front yard ornament, LOL
  15. Gray fox, I totally agree. I've been an annual member for I don't know how long. I don't agree or like the WLP thing. But, we need the NRA on the National level, and State. Without their stand at times, we would be gutless toast. If they leave NY, maybe they'll move to TN. We're gun friendly here, so why not? I can't imagine why anything gun related is still in NY anyway.
  16. RK Shows will be at Lebanon this weekend, Oct 9 & 10, if anyone's interested. Wilson Co. Expo bldg, free parking. Think I may go just for the heck of it, just see what's there.
  17. I still take a ride at Pigeon Forge when I can. The Chinooks were awesome too. Rode them several times.
  18. I flew ( not pilot ), in Huey helicopters often during combat missions in 'Nam, back in the day. Always wanted to learn to fly when I got back to the world, but that didn't work out. Would love to have one, so out of curiosity, I looked online & found one. Located in Maui, Hi. Ready to fly, only $525,000. Obviously, a few bucks past my meek budget. Did make my mouth water tho. Checked back again later.......SOLD already. Oh, well. I love those old birds, save our bacon several times. Medivac brought me out after I was wounded. Maybe in another lifetime, LOL
  19. That's true, #1 & #2 were out, but they were playing the Jets, one of the worst teams in the league, so........
  20. Good plan, just doesn't always work. Speaking from past experiences.
  21. I don't know about TV, but there was a story in the Tennessean.
