  1. Copper wire doesn't rust and decrease in diameter, and, if it did decrease in diameter, the resistance would rise, not fall. Shorted turns could cause the resistance to fall, but I don't understand how they would short after the injector was assembled and put into use. Magnet wire has an insulation on it that won't dissolve in gasoline or even acid. I can imagine thermal stress causing a winding to break, causing an open circuit, but I just can't wrap my mind around the idea of a coil decreasing in resistance as it ages. Just another one of my many shortcomings, I guess.
  2. I would bet that your comment will be saved for posterity.
  3. What causes the resistance to decrease? Does the wire in the coil increase in diameter or get shorter? Shorted turns, maybe? I'm not an electrical engineer, so I don't understand this.
  4. Why would the resistance change on a fuel injector, unless a wire breaks and they go open circuit? I'm missing something here. If you're not measuring the spec resistance, I'd suspect your ohmmeter, not the injectors.
  5. I got tired of stripping and reloading my wife's XP laptop so I've been running IOLO System Mechanic on if for a couple of years now. Not free, but inexpensive and very effective. I run Linux on the computers I use.
  6. Oh No! Where will I buy wilted veggies and brown fruit if UGO is posted? The horror!
  7. one word - velcro.
  8. That's the way I feel about it. If the business wants to sit on the fence and try to please everyone, it's fine with me. I'm kinda amused by "No Weapons" type signs. Heck, I don't carry weapons.
  9. To convert the twin lead input to coax, you need a 'balun'. It will have two wires at one end to attach to the terminals, and an F connector on the other end to accept a coax jumper from a digital converter box. Radio Shack probably has the balun. I know that Lowe's carries them. They may call them an input transformer, or antenna transformer, but it's really just a balun. It converts the BALanced line (twin terminals) to UNbalanced (coax). China-Mart still sells the digital converters.
  10. Well, that's the end of his political career. But I think that was his intent.
  11. I wondered how long it would take . . .
  12. Good luck! I have a feeling you're headed for a heart attack if something doesn't change.
  13. I don't have to shoot June Bugs - they seem to fall victim to my metal halide light over the garage.
  14. I found a .410 MEC 600 Jr on Ebay for less than $90. Once adjusted for the length of shell, reloads are quick and easy. I will warn you that the shot tube is very small on a .410 press and I couldn't get any shot larger than #8 to drop reliably.
  15. Not around my house, but the skwerls are gettin' worrisome.
  16. 8 O'Clock Colombian, fresh ground. No cream, thank you.
  17. I subscribe to the popular view that Jack is too expensive to mix, and too poor to drink straight. George!
  18. Cell phones depend on telephone lines. When trees start falling, phone lines come down. There is no substitute for radio, either broadcast or point-to-point. It's a misnomer to call cell phone communications 'wireless'. They're only wireless between the phone and the nearest tower and between the tower and the landline switching station.
  19. I'd still rather have a post card. When there's a tornado warning in my area, I'm kinda busy.
  20. My cell plan doesn't include text messages - I can't receive nor send them. Just like the government to figure out how to add to the overload on the cell system during emergencies. Should help the system to go down earlier. Maybe I can get them to send me a postcard. PS - Tornado warnings from the government are already sent by radio, and the broadcast stations repeat them. NWS tornado warnings cover large areas and don't contain any specific information. Skywarn spotters on amateur radio VHF weather nets provide actual tornado sighting information back to NWS. The smart people listen to the local Skywarn weather net during threatening weather, not government broadcasts.
  21. The Navy issued a smaller Kabar as a survival knife. Similar to this:
  22. It's not too late. I graduated into a crappy economy too and didn't get my first engineering job for 2 1/2 years. I retired from that job. The fact that you worked at what you could find speaks well for you on your application.
  23. Smith & Wesson Model 19 (blue) and Model 66 (stainless) are the classic .357 revolvers. A 6 inch barrel may be more difficult to find than 4 inch. If you buy one, you'll love it. If you sell it, you'll always regret it.
  24. Apparently I've had enough!
  25. Budweiser American Ale - the only Bud that's fit to drink.
