  1. I've heard the local dispatcher inform a deputy that a stopped driver has a valid HCP.  She wasn't asked if the driver had one - she volunteered the info.
  2.   They're a store!  That's what stores do!
  3. Not kidding at all.  I said "the plumbers", not the dropouts working their first job.  Lowe's has both.
  4. I've run Linux Mint on a Compaq Presario V2000, AMD processor.  Runs just fine, no problems installing.  Just make sure you get the AMD version.  I installed it on a separate drive, and can change from Windows to Linux by swapping drives.  Running XP at the moment because the weather station software I need to run is a windows app.   You should be able to install both OS's on a single drive.  Make sure that Windows is the first OS installed, then install the linux distro of your choice in a new partition.  If GRUB works correctly (not always a given), you should get a startup menu where you can choose your OS for the session.  I've installed dual-boot several times, most of the time it works just fine.
  5. . . . and if all else fails, the plumbers at Lowes will be glad to advise you and help you find what you need.
  6. I'm currently running 10+ year old Linksys WRT54G routers that I bought used on Ebay for $20 each.  Durable and fast enough for me.   'New' ain't necessarily better, and price has nothing to do with quality.   All new Linksys routers are made by Belkin - Cisco sold out to them.
  7. Forget my wife, let's look for yours!
  8. I agree with all of that!  :D
  9. State Farm for the last 8 years, and we price-shop our policies every year or so.  So far, SF has the best prices and we like their service.  I've had a few small claims, both automotive and home, and have no complaints.  We also have umbrella liability insurance with them.   USAA is one of the insurers we've shopped, more than once.  SF is still cheaper for us.  YMMV
  10. I'll have mine plain, please. If you have a 4 inch blade, half serrated, you end up with a 2 inch blade and a 2 inch saw.
  11. My current truck came from Florida, and had 5% tint on side and rear windows.  I had to change the side windows because I couldn't read the speedometer in broad daylight.
  12. There were a lot of those text adventure games written for BASIC.  You should be able to run BASIC on any Windows machine, but getting the games may be a trick.  I re-used all of my TI-99 tapes.   Google 'abandonware'.
  13. You're not likely to be hassled by the police for excessive rear window tint, based on personal experience.  That is, unless you're a known bad actor.  In that case, the cops will pull you over for window tint, just to talk to you and smell the smoke inside your car.  :D
  14. Horsehide and nylon are good in damp environments, but you've eliminated every place I can think of to hang a holster.
  15. Austin - that says it all.
  16. Two words - Prince Albert. Coolest-smoking tobacco I've found.
  17. My Goodman died at 6 years, replaced it with a Trane.  You'll need another heat source when it gets much below 30F.   The auxilary/emergency heat in the units is expensive to run, but it's better than freezing.  Since you're building, it would be a good time to put in gas logs and run them on propane.
  18. I likes boobies!
  19. A BIC is cheaper, lighter (heh) and smaller.
  20. Everything on TV or radio is for entertainment.  If you get any useful information, it's either by accident or by careful examination of what's said.  I must be getting old and grumpy, because I'm no longer entertained by 99% of what I see and hear.  Turn it off and go play with your kids/grandkids/puppy.   'You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows'  - Bob Dylan.
  21. Where registration leads -   http://www.youtube.com/embed/03XEUPfD0qM
  22. You can't get a check until I stop paying income taxes.
  23. My wife's new Bodyguard doesn't have the lock.
