Jimmuh Carter tried extending DST back in the 70's, when he was the resident foole in the Oval Office.  It failed.  As I recall, people objected to their children walking to school in the dark.  I'm all in favor of eliminating DST, not EST.

So what's your purpose in posting this?  Are you trolling for other asshats?  We have 'em, you don't have to put out bait.

  Yes!    The trick is to slowly re-humidify the sticks.  I saw an article on the process recently, probably on cheaphumidors.com.  Go there  and do a little looking.   Another thing that is not so obvious about long-term cigar storage is that the cigars need to be regularly rotated in position if your humidor is pretty much filled.  The cigars on the bottom are not getting the same humidity as the ones on top, so rotating them every once in a while reduces your chances of wasting one by lighting it up when it's too dry.

I have a Baikal coach gun and it has a common design flaw (for that model) - action doesn't open easily far enough to extract.  It falls open to a point where the hulls hit the receiver when you try to pull them out.  You have to force it open just a little further, and thankfully it latches at the further position or you'd need 3 hands to reload.   I modified it with some aftermarket parts so that it works acceptably, but it shouldn't have been shipped in that condition.   I'd be leery of the quality of any Baikal firearm.

Appears to be about 6-7 inches on my deck railing this morning, but it's too dark yet to measure this morning.  Satellite TV and internet seem to be holding out, but signals are low.  Will have to sweep the dishes later.

IMO, high-gloss walnut makes a rifle too pretty to use.  I'm always afraid of dinging the stock - it's like getting the first scratch on a new car.  I like a low gloss oil finish on a pre-dinged walnut stock.   My 30 year old 10-22 has a beautifully figured walnut stock.  It spends most of its time in the safe.

My SIL, who's an E5 in the Army, is much less than impressed with Army discipline.  He says the soldiers are a sloppy, backtalking bunch and the senior NCO's support them.  He liked his time in the Navy much better.  YMMV.

A 4" K-frame is a better option for a house gun.  But I still like the 638 for carry.
