1. I made one 30+ years ago - Model 1894 Swedish Mauser, Fajen stock, wide-angle Weaver 4 power in a Williams side high mount over BUIS Williams peep sight, Buehler safety. 6.5x55 Swedish ammo in the 120 year old action is a bit anemic compared to .308, but it was what was available in my price range.
2. Because I'm an old guy with a mustache and a WV cap.     Who can also fly!
3. Welcome FNG, from an FOG!
4. It's beyond me if it doesn't have a distributor and carb, and I worked for Ford.  Things change fast!
5.   BAD idea - it's a bomb.
6. I did several ride alongs with the Athens PD.  Everything from so dull you couldn't stay awake to non-stop action.   (Girl driver, crying)  "I just knew you were going to give me a ticket"   (Officer Eric)  "I just knew I was too!"  :D
7. Welcome from SETN!
8. There's always someone who recommends birdshot for home defense.  It's OK if you're invaded by birds.  If birdshot penetrated well, I wouldn’t have had to pick shot out of the pheasants I ate.  Anything bigger than birds requires buckshot.
9. And here I am with 28 rounds of factory Federal #8's and slugs, no 16 gauge gun and no one to sell them to. Tsk!
10. 12 gauge 2-3\4 inch #1 buck
11.   There's a common attitude - if you can get away with it, it's not really illegal.
12.   Probably because they'd lose even more money doing so.  Manufacturers can't sell vehicles that don't meet current safety and emission standards.  Dealers can - manufacturers can't.  Besides, there's undoubtedly a tax advantage in scrapping them.
13.   I have two digital clocks on top of the computer in front of me - one marked 'ZULU' and one marked 'LOCAL'.  That's for amateur radio use - radio events happen at the same time all over the world, using Zulu time.  Oddly enough, I never have to reset the Zulu clock, but I change the Local clock twice a year.  Just silly!   Posted at 2011Z, 5Mar14.
14. I'm very tempted.
15. Don't listen to people who tell you "Memphis is nice".  Welcome!
16. I've polished old ammo by chucking the rounds in a cordless drill, applying a little metal polish to a rag and applying the rag to the spinning ammo.  It's time consuming, but what's time to an old retired guy?
17. However, their Congressional charter doesn't contain all these restrictions - the Legion added them.  They're begging for members, but they don't want the common riff-raff.  :D
18. I see that science can't compete with anecdotes, so I'll be on my way, again.  :shake:
19. It takes more than a DD214 to join the Legion - you also need to have served on active duty other than for training.  That leaves out some Reservists and Guardsmen (the lucky ones).
20. As I've been saying for years, follow the manufacturer's recommendation.  They should know about the quality of the spring and the system it functions in.  If the spring will become a problem during normal use, including keeping it compressed for years, they should know that and tell you.  If they don't have a recommendation, then I'd keep the springs compressed and learn for myself.  I'd rather have them fail in the safe than in combat.  Failure is not a bad thing in itself.  It only become a problem when it happens at the wrong time.  Springs are cheap.
21. Like James Bond, I smoke cigars and keep an aerosol can handy in the bathroom.  Tuco took baths with his pistols, but I wouldn't go that far.
