  1. Still have the Dual 1226 and the speakers. But receiver/amps are fragile and mine have bitten the dust.
  2. It may be rigged towards high scores, BUT  . . .  If you choose all the right answers (as I did, harumph harumph), you get credited with 15 correct out of 15.
  3. Possibly depending on manufactured date, some of it has a bad rep for inconsistency. I had a bunch of it that gave me fits in both semi-auto and bolt rifles. Rounds that wouldn't cycle the action and rounds that gave signs of borderline high pressure in the same box. Accuracy sucked, of course. I disassembled all of it and it sits in baggies awaiting reloading. Google it and read some of the war stories. ps - bullet is 144 grain spitzer boattail.
  4. This is Pakistan's problem, not America's.  We'll deal with our terrorists, but these ones belong to Pakistan.  I wouldn't trade the life of 1 Marine for a thousand Pakistanis.    Sic 'em Pakis!  Maybe they're hiding up around Abbottabad!
  5.   Shoot it prone and I'll tote you to the Emergency Room, free of charge.
  6. If you want a truck to CARRY heavy loads, you may want a gas engine.  The diesel package is some 700 lbs heavier than the gas version, and that comes directly off your carrying capacity.  If you want to tow heavy loads, then diesel is the ticket.   I had the 6.8L V10 gas engine in my F350 and it was a beast.  I've seen the engines torn down after 150-200K miles of durability testing and they looked new.   Mine delivered 10-11 mpg, loaded or unloaded, uphill or downhill, headwind or tailwind.  With the airbags and 4000 lbs of camper in the bed, it road like a limo on the interstate.   I don't know squat about Chevy or Dodge - ain't my area.
  7.   It's for aircraft hunting season.
  8. There is a point when labor & overhead become the major part of the cost of shipping, and that figures into your minimum shipping charge.  And then, if you can ship something that weighs 10 lb for $5 postage, it doesn't follow that you can ship something that weighs 1 lb for 50 cents.   You can't base shipping costs on weight for many reasons, not the least of which are that the Post Office and UPS charge based partially on weight and partially on package size.   A shipping cost schedule, when done honestly, represent a coarse filtering of all possible shipping costs into several categories.  The shipper makes money on some shipments, loses on others, and hopes he comes out even in the long run.
  9. A half-ton truck bed will hold enough dry dirt to overload the truck.  Wet dirt is even worse.  You really have to watch your weight hauling dirt or rock.   The tires are the first thing to go.
  10. I had air bags installed on my F350.  Not cheap, but they'd level the truck with 2 tons in the bed (which was still within the truck's rating:).   You can't change the GVWR of the truck by modifying it.  If it would carry 1000 pounds before, it's only rated for the same 1000 pounds after you modify it.  But you can get your headlights out of the trees and back on the road.
  11. Check the oil - if it's low and looks like tar, pass it by.
  12. I quit Sears years ago for the same reason I quit Kmart - piss-poor customer service. I won't be sad to see Kmart die - they earned it.
  13. I got 'em all - I are a genous!
  14. "Bye bye Miss American Pie . . ."   GOD I hate that song.  It's 30 minutes long and the radio stations played it every 15 minutes.  Don McLean's "Vincent" is one of my favorites - "Starry, starry night . . ."   Back to our regularly scheduled programming - "Here's my friend Jim Arness in 'Gunsmoke'.   I like pi.
  15. Worse things have happened.  MUCH worse things.   Army will beat Navy again.  It's still a rivalry.  After all, WVU did beat Penn State (in '93 as I recall) after some 30 straight losses.  Miracles do happen.   I have nothing but the highest respect for the cadets and middies.  The academy sports teams are the cream of the cream of the crop.
  16. I once shot a .40 in a .45 acp. It went 'pop' and you could see the round going down range. I got the two-pointer but the gun was fouled.
  17. Plate carrier under the tee?
  18. Does it have to be stitched or can you substitute rivets?  Just asking - I'm not in your area.
  19.   Don't forget to open the drain on your rain barrel when you get home tonite.
  20. I know that Hank is a Ruger fan, but I don't know about Colts.
  21. Flying radio-controlled aircraft is a hobby enjoyed by thousands of Americans, and it has a long tradition.  The planes didn't become 'drones' until the military got involved.  Now hobbyists are viewed with suspicion by the general public.    :waiting:
  22. Wagg-n-Purr in Athens is a great place.  We board both of ours there once or twice a year.  They won't take a dog in heat as it disrupts the kennel, as you can imagine, but spaying/neutering is not required.  Any kennel will require that your dogs be current on rabies, parvo, bordetella and distemper shots.  Let me know if you need more info.
  23. Congratulations!  We got our first granddaughter 8 years ago, and she was so much fun, we have our 5th on order, due in March.   Warning - they grow up SO fast, especially if you don't get to see them on a regular basis.  Enjoy that little cutie as much as you can!
  24. I wouldn't bet any of my money on a factory making millions of rounds of ammo with zero defects, regardless of trendy Japanese techniques.
  25. Rods work well, even in garages.  Moisture can be dealt with - neglect causes rust.
