  1. It's a city thang - happens less often here in cow country.
  2. I usually carry a J-frame in a pocket holster so, yes, I dress for CC. I always wear pants (with front pockets).
  3. Take a sheet of waxed cardboard, like pastries come in, and spray paint a black bull on it. The paint will chip when struck by the bullet and show the color of the cardboard around the hole. My favorite cheap rifle target for iron sights is an 8 or 9 inch black paper plate stapled to a white backer. My eyes ain't what they used to be.

    THE Question

Count your blessings. The film as originally released was terminally dull. It was re-cut and now is unintelligible. "Oh Her Majesty's Secret Service" should be remade by a real studio with real actors and a real director. Other than that, I have no opinion . . . .

    THE Question

David Niven, since he was the original James Bond in the first movie, Casino Royale. (no, really, Sean Connery was and is James Bond).
  6. The new Army uniform is nasty. He looks like a Junior Birdman. Glad I got to wear greens and khaki.
  7. I'm no fool -- I don't believe a word of this.
  8. Have you been down Michigan Avenue between I-94 and Tiger Stadium in Detroit? I used to be a tail-gunner on a beer truck on that run.
  9. I've killed hundreds of pheasants and thousands of clay pigeons with my Ithaca 37. It's a 70's model, 12 gauge 26 inch with a Polychoke. I also have a Remington 870 and a Browning BPS, and have owned a couple of Mossbergs. I'll take the Ithaca.
  10. McMinn County (where I happen to be). Shopping in Knoxville/Cleveland/Chattanooga - all within an hour. Watts Bar is 20 minutes west, Tellico, Ft. Loudon Lakes are 30 min. NE. Less than an hour to the Smokies. Monroe County is also a good choice. Where I live most of my neighbors are cows.
  11. Not true. For plastic deformation to occur in a spring in "a bit", the spring and/or the spring system have to be incorrectly designed or be of low quality. That is, unless 10 to 20 million cycles is "a bit" to you.
  12. I wouldn't participate in a church 'security team' -- the liability is too great. I carry for my own protection. Other people should provide for their own protection also.
  13. 6 posts and 6 opinions! #1 buck is the best combination of lethality and reduced penetration. Birdshot is for birds.
  14. Bear in mind that the larger safes are a better value - one 50 cu. ft. safe costs significantly less than two 25 cu. ft. safes.
  15. The springs in good quality magazines will last forever. Don't worry about it. It's compression/decompression cycles that cause springs to fail, and their lifetime is measured in millions of cycles. Loading and then emptying the magazine is one cycle.
  16. Chili dogs, aka Coney Islands.
  17. Yuengling Traditional Lager this evening.
  18. I find my 239 in .40 to be the perfect CC pistol for me. Good size/weight for controllability, adequate mag capacity, stainless, no safeties, and single-stack for concealability. All handguns are compromises of one sort or another. The 239 is the best package (so far) for me. That said, I only carry it in cooler weather. Summer carry for me is a J-frame in a pocket holster.
  19. I'm 100% with you. Walk softly and carry a big stick (concealed).
  20. You didn't test any S&B SS 109 didya?
  21. I enjoyed it when I first heard it back in the 50's.
  22. Well, let's see -- candles, bubblebath, chick flicks, long phone calls with girl friends, eating what YOU want to eat . . . that takes care of the first day. I agree, 9 days is a long time. I see solitaire in your future.
  23. Most of my friends don't know I carry - the ones who do don't care. Some of them are counting on me to carry in certain situations. I'm not fond of that - they should arrange for their own security instead of expecting me to step in for them. I might not. I guess I should tell them that, but it's not an easy thing to do.
  24. Nah, okra ain't no good when you cook it that way. Sorry, I can't go bass fishing today - I have a dentist appointment - just a routine cleaning. I think fireworks are too dangerous and shouldn't be sold to the public. Jimmy Jack - you shouldn't be stealing and selling that copper wire! There's just too many meth labs in the area! Fried green tomaters? What the hell's that?
