  1. Thread moved from Long Guns to Hunting forum by request.
  2. You can't depend on cats to do anything. A Jack Russell in the back yard, however, is another story. Cats are welfare recipients. jacks are killers.
  3. My first observation is that light primer strikes are usually the fault of the weapon, not the ammo. Cleaning might help. My second observation is that target ammo (and reloads) are MUCH more likely to FTF than premium hunting or SD ammo. It's limited data, but I've had FTF's with 20-year-old reloads and with target ammo, but never with premium (e.g. Remington Express) or SD ammo (Federal, Remington & Winchester). I shot about 400 new .40 reloads in a training class a couple of years ago and had zero problems. My .30 carbine reloads were 100% reliable in 1985, but they aren't now. Maybe I need to shoot more often.

    S&W 4013

My 4013TSW has never, ever, failed to fire or eject. Zero malfs, period. I carried it for several years and used it in training.
  7. My wife carries a NAA Guardian in an R.L. Graham Poptop holster. It's the most comfortable combo she's found. It's an IWB holster that positions the pistol completely below the top of the belt. I don't know what a woman's comfortable, concealable waistband holster for a medium/large handgun would look like. It seems to me to be a contradiction in terms.
  8. I bought 1000 AA's from a skeet range many years ago. Since I don't shoot nearly as much now, I haven't yet determined how many times they can be reloaded. I will say that I have reloaded many of them 4 times and haven't lost more than 1 or 2. With ribbed Federal hulls I was down to 30-40% after 4 loadings (as I recall). I put a Sharpie mark on the base every time I reload a hull, so I can tell when I pick one up out of the basket how many times it's been loaded. I really think that my supply of AA hulls will be a lifetime supply! The last time I loaded non-AA hulls was when I used up all of my Federal and Remington ribbed hulls (some 400) loading them for Christmas presents for my son and son-in-law. I told them to don't bother picking up the empties -- I don't want them back.
  9. If you're planning on using your Winchester Game Load hulls, are they the same smooth plastic hulls as used on the AA target loads? If not, your plan of reloading the hulls 10 times may be wildly optimistic. I've found that only the Winchester AA and the Remington STS hulls are worth loading more than once. When using other hulls (ribbed Federals and Remingtons), I lose a lot of them due to damage in firing, sizing and crimping. AA's are like the Energizer Bunny -- they keep going, and going . . . . .

  11. Meat is tasty, but carbohydrates are food. A bag of rice will keep you alive longer than a ham will. I'm big on dry rice/noodle/soup foil packs, plus spices and dried milk. A safe drinking water supply is more important than food. You can live 3 weeks (6+ for me ) without food, but only 3 days without water.
  12. Double-edged knives under 4 inches?
  13. I've used one and it works well. I don't think they'd work well with skin-tight jeans though.
  14. Smartcarry or Thunderwear (whichever one I have) works with sweat pants, so scrubs should be OK too.
  15. I was interested a couple of years ago, emailed them (3 times as I recall) and got no response. I was less than unimpressed.
  16. Thanks for the tip - just ordered 2!
  17. IF the mags are properly designed, and IF the spring material is good, there should be no worries. If they're made by a major manufacturer with a good quality history they should be OK. Good quality springs won't weaken if you cycle them a lot, unless "a lot" is in the neighborhood of 10 million times.
  18. Properly-designed springs made from good steel should last virtually forever. Don't worry about the springs in your guns (or mags) failing unless you've messed with them. Resist the temptation to mess with them.
  19. If being anti-communist makes me a racist I'll wear the label proudly.

    XS Sights..

They don't claim to be as accurate as target sights --- they're combat sights.
  21. You're gonna stay here and get what the majority deserves, just like the rest of us.
  22. Also Cabela's.
  23. Which organization is our "state gun organization"? I've been trying to figure that one out for a while.
  24. 30-some years now. Currently an Endowment Life member.
  25. Welcome!
