  1. The first bail-out bill didn't pass the common sense test either, but that jack@ss voted for it. So did Alexander.
  2. I'd vote for Huckabee if he were running against Obama. I'd vote for Carter if he was running against Obama. Carter was right about half the time but Obama ain't been right yet. I'm rooting for Caribou Barbie until further notice.
  3. There's quite a bit to see other than the inside of casinos - the Grand Canyon is not too far to drive - I've done it several times. It's a long day, though. Death Valley is an easy drive, Mt. Charleston, Area 51, Hoover Dam, Laughton/Davis Dam, Needles, Searchlight. Just rent a car and take your camera. The lights on the strip at night are unbelievable.
  4. Chilhowee Rod & Gun Club The page has contact info if you're interested in a HCP class. There are lots of others also. There's a thread somewhere on this board on who offers HCP training.
  5. I'd sure like to hear the reasoning on that decision. Cripes!
  6. That is one homely chick, IMHO.
  7. My experience with trying to stain previously-finished wood tells me you're in for some disappointment. Staining is the problem. Let us know how it works out for you, always willing to learn something.
  8. We definitely need updates on kills, Boone & Crockett scores, mounts, etc. I haven't seen one recently - do you think they read these forums?
  9. My intention is to kil them before they make holes in my deck. They damage the wood themselves, but the woodpeckers going after their grubs REALLY tears up the deck. Seems cruel to squirt WD-40 up their little holes.
  10. I'll be shooting them out of the air - the little buggers buzz me when I'm sitting on my deck. The only load data I heard was 2 grains of Unique, paper wads over the powder and over the grits/cream of wheat. I'm using 2 grains of Bullseye, but I'm not recommending any load data to anyone. Carpenter bee control S&W style I used a 3/8" gasket punch to make wads out of cardstock. Easy to tell them from the SD rounds - no bullet, just a yellow wad showing in the mouth of the case.
  11. Thanks to a thread I found on the Smith & Wesson forum (S&W Forum), I've loaded up some Quaker Instant Grits shotshells for my .38 and I'm gonna shoot the destructive little pests!
  12. I moved here from the Detroit area and have never felt more secure in my life. The Tennessean's agenda is showing, again. You can't color an entire state based on one or two cities. There are some very nice, safe areas of Michigan. Georgia's wonderful -- Atlanta sucks. Alabama is delightful - Birmingham sucks. Ohio is tolerable (best I can do) - Cleveland sucks. However, saying that the state's rating is drug down (or up) by some cities in the state is political incorrectness, "that which shall not be discussed".

  14. Just picked up a new Henry Frontier Model .22 lever action at a local gun shop! Can't wait to get to the range. Will sight it in with .22 LR and then see where the CB Shorts hit at close range. Should be dandy for popping varmints (including rabid raccoons) on the property. Don't have a picture but here's one from the Henry website. I wish they came with a color case-hardened receiver!
  15. Gee - if they limited their data mining to just the Constitutionally-mandated headcount, it'd be a lot easier, wouldn't it? Not to mention cheaper?
  16. Craig Wilkins will lead a handgun carry permit class on Saturday, April 10 at 9:00 am. If you or anybody you know are interested, please call Craig at 920-4375 or Bill Aly at 263-2806. Requirements: $60.00 (no deposit); your driver's license; your pistol + 50 rounds of commercially loaded ammo (no reloads) (if you do not have a pistol bring 50 rounds of .22lr ammo and a pistol will be provided); ear and eye protection (we will also have some available); pencil and paper for notes; lunch. You do not have to be a member of the club to attend. For more information on requirements for Tennessee Handgun Carry Permit please visit the official web site at Handgun Carry Permit Qualifications and Requirements.
  17. They're picking the bones. Party stores and restaurants - no creation of wealth, just the exchange of it.
  18. You lived in the Detroit area? I lived in the Detroit suburbs for 33 years. Race politics is what's killing Detroit -- not the auto industry, not NAFTA, not white racism, not Suburbia, not unions. Those are all bogeymen that people blame because they can't talk about Detroit's real problem. You cannot discuss race in this country without somebody being called a racist, and that ends the discussion This country became hypersensitive about race in the early 60's. That's when Coleman Young became Detroit's first black mayor. He was immune from criticism as have been all of his successors, and he did as he pleased. Taxpayers all over the country footed the bill.
  19. Detroit is rotting from within, and it's been going on since at least the '60s. It can't be saved because a frank discussion of it's problems is impossible. It won't be necessary for the last one to leave to turn off the lights -- the lights will already be off.
  20. Under my DL upside down so it doesn't advertise on the rare occasions when I remove my DL.
  21. That's when I turned it off.
