  1. I seem to carry my 'summer gun' 90% of the time, winter and summer. Smith J-frame in a Kramer pocket holster. The other 10% it's a K-frame in .357. A few years ago I tried carrying only revolvers for a year. I haven't gone back to semi-autos yet.
  2. My son-in-law has an ASUS Linux netbook. It's sitting on my desk now, fried during a BIOS upgrade. It'll have to go back to ASUS for repair. It's a common problem with ASUS netbooks. Let the buyer beware.
  3. All this 'rationale' is from the people who declared a 14" shoe string to be a machine gun. Clowns . . .
  4. Outside of the occasional 408 error, I have no problems. Linux Mint, Opera browser.
  5. I lust for one, but there must be something wrong with my eyes. I can't see myself paying that much for a knife.
  6. I'm not scared of Jews and Catholics.
  7. It was a Model 95 in .380 and the safety/decocker lever was tight and never loosened up. It was also too large for a .380 (IMHO).
  8. I would rather have 1 used SIG than 2 new Bersas. Used, quality guns don't cost a heck of a lot different than new, lower quality guns. Considering that a good gun, if taken care of, will last several lifetimes, what's the downside? My used SIG 239 cost me $400. It was a bargain! By the way, I've owned a Bersa. I don't sell many guns, but I sold that one.
  9. What you see on Mythbusters is not science -- it's entertainment. Their data usually doesn't support their conclusions. When they tell you the truth it's because they guessed right.
  10. Rotgut with a beer chaser.
  11. Personally, I'd go for a used SIG. I bought a used 239 in .40 and have never regretted it.
  12. Google "Zipgraver" and see what he can do for you.
  13. I said a "quality used handgun". I wasn't talking about Phoenix, Raven, et al.
  14. A quality used handgun for $300 is a good deal, regardless of caliber.
  15. "Miracle Whip" is a brand of thin Spackle, isn't it?
  16. BTW, my homemade mayo has mustard in it. (I may have just voted?)
  17. I like both, in their places - mustard on a ham sammich and mayo on turkey. I make my own mayo.
  18. I'll take mine plain.
  19. I'm low on beer . . . .
  20. Interior rooms without an outside wall or windows are best. Our safe room is the laundry room, handy because it has water and a drain, though I can't picture my wife sitting on the laundry tub. Yeah, I know, boy scout. Tormatoes -- snerk!!
  21. No idea. Mine has been used intermittently for the last 40+ years and hasn't developed any problems, other than finding 5mm ammo.
  22. And why I mentioned PLB's in a PM. The sat phones look like a good deal. PLB's can generate a location beacon if you're unable to make a scheduled contact. It all depends on how much of a boy scout you are.
  23. In an emergency situation, ther only difference between a broken radio and a radio that won't transmit due to protection circuitry is that, in the latter case, your heirs get a functioning radio.
