  1. Interesting. I would have never thought about that idea. Thanks for the info! I will have to try that. Unless someone chimes in and says they have a puller that threads into a press that I can borrow haha.
  2. Not gonna lie, the loadmaster is a major PITA to set up and get running right. It was my first progressive press and it took me almost 3 full days of tinkering with it to get it to run just right. I started out with problems with the case feeder plastic piece. Then had problems with the indexing rod not following the frame and kicking out. Then the auto prime was the next major task that took forever to get broke in. To troubleshoot your problem I would maybe take off your shellplate holder and ensure the springs and everything under there are in place, maybe even check the springs under the priming station. If that does not work there is a bolt at the bottom of the ram that you can loosen and adjust the press, then just re tighten it when it is lined up and indexing properly after a full stroke without having to lift it back up a little to get it to go down all the way. And also, the spent primers go into the ram and can be emptied out of a little sliding door that is right next to the bolt at the bottom of the ram that I was telling you about. Good luck with it
  3. Hey guys, the other day I was going through the ammo closet and remembered that I had about 300 22-250 rounds that I had loaded a little over a year ago with brand new brass and 36gr of varget under 50gr vmax and nosler bt. I no longer have a 22-250 so I figured I would just pull the bullets and re-use them and the powder for .223 target ammo instead of trying to trade the ammo off. Well long story short, the bullets do NOT want to come out of the case necks hardly. I didn't use a factory crimp die on them. They just seem very hard to come out. I actually broke my kinetic hammer puller after I had done 20 rounds. Is it normal for them to be that difficult to take out when no sealant, or adhesives were used when I seated the bullets? I don't want to buy another kinetic puller so maybe I should try one of the colleted pullers for a press? Anyone here have one of those and a .22 caliber collet that can testify to how well it works, or maybe even let me borrow one for a day or something? Thanks everyone.
  4. hey thanks for those 2 great responses! It's gonna come down to a coin toss I think haha. I will definately practice on other metal first before I go spray happy on my slide lol. Other side of the coin, Im gonna call around here in a minute and get some prices for someone to finish it for me. Thanks much for the advice guys
  5. Hey guys, got a few questions. I want to refinish the slide on my usp 45 compact but wondering exactly how to do so and what to use. It will be re-done matte black as its taken alot of holster wear. I've done alot of reading about the metal prep and everyone talks about using your sand blast tank... well sorry, I'm apparently the only american that does not have my own sand blast tank in my garage, so its not an option for me to rough the surface in prep. So anywho, I've seen some youtube videos about using 600 grit sandpaper very lightly just to rough it up so the finish adheres to it properly with great results. Next, is what finish to use... It has to be something I can do here at home (TCE or tru strip spray to degrease, & sand paper for prep that will suffice) Cure time is not an issue nor an oven. Read alot that says Cerakote is the cats meow to use but can often be finicky. Duracoat and Durabake are cheap options. Also, brownells finishes like Gunkote or Aluma hyde II? Anyone here have an experience with any of these options or refinishing problems that you ran into? Is it even worth it to try here at home or should I just find someone around locally that can do it? I'm assuming im gonna pay about $50 to $80 if I pay someone who does it perfectly? Any advice on this matter would be a huge help. Any reccomendations to a local gunsmith (gallatin, lebanon, hendersonville, greenbrier) with quick turn around time cheap prices on what im wanting would be greatly appreciated too! Thanks a bunch everyone!
