Godspeed and come home safely.

Hey, it looks good to me! And I think it looks pretty darned useful and serviceable. Fun to do stuff ourselves and I wish I knew more about "house building" stuff beyond basic inside doors, etc. I admire the folks in the trades. Do you ever watch Mike Holmes on HGTV - guy does some heavy duty fixes?

I have a Browning Buckmark and it is not a joy to strip and clean either although I have heard the Ruger is a bugger. I shot a Ruger MK III quite a bit and almost bought a used one, but heard the same thing you stated so got the Browning (have a good old Ruger P89, not hard to strip and clean it, though, LOL)

My wife and I built a 10 X 10 (inside dimensions) pergola on our patio. We started Friday, after I had done some corbel (spelling?) cutting and had set the post bases earlier in the week. We used steel mounts, set on the concrete and secured with Redhead wedge bolts. Took a full three days but should be worth it come sunny weather. Overall we are really happy with the outcome; Christy gets credit for the decorating, ha ha ha...here I am Sunday with three of my "helpers".

Concealed carry question...
7dogguy replied to Plain Old Dave's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Well said and a specious line of thought if anyone thinks "checks" are effective in keeping bad guys from having or using guns. But law abiding people, like HCP holders, will obey the law and work for changes within the system. I think the original post was just a pot stirrer (my humble opinion). -

Well stated and I agree with you down the line. -
All prayers and good thoughts - miracles can happen so will pray it does happen.

You got it Mate - prayers and all the good thoughts possible for her.

I carry a smaller pistol, pocket holster and keep the bigger gun in the pack. Since I also carry a bladed weapon that is easily accessed and a "stick", I am optimisitc I would be OK to get to safey/cover and get my other weapon out. But my concern is not so much bears or other critters of the four legged version - I am more concerned with our fellow man (was reading about the AT recently and some of the attacks on and deaths of hikers). People just ain't right sometime... I saw OH SHOOT's idea and that looks like a great idea for carrying on a pack; I think I might look into that and could keep my "normal" pistol accessible. And if I remember correctly, there was something in the recent Handguns Mag about a carry rig for a big caliber pistol.

+1 on the OPs saying have her go elsewhere (or come home). And also to not ever support that place.

Regarding the Muslim Brotherhood, a scholar (from Notre Dame, I believe) said that group is not formally organized and is not such a threat as may be believed. There was also a discussion of the power of the Christian Coptics in Egypt - about 20% of the poplulation, thus a minority of approximately 16 million people. Only time will tell, but I have to feel for the "average" citizen in Egypt; I could not imagine such widespread action like that in the US (and yes, I would suspect anyone who went thru some of the large LA riots likely thought their world was upside down - the average citizen, not the protesters). The part of me that is so glad to be an American and appreciates all of our freedoms - for example, don't like Mr. Obama or Speaker Boehner - write a letter, post a blog, or work to vote them out next time around with no fear of retribution -make me so thankful for the precious freedoms of being an American. being par. And it makes me even more aware these precious freedoms are ones so many don't have and make the USA so very unique and special (and why so many will risk it all to get here by hook or crook). But the citizens of Egypt (or elsewhere) need to establish their government - without meddling, imho.

I saw one in Las Vegas- close enough for me. All I lost was money!

Either - Cheetos, yum. But what is up with Chester's accent now?

Too funny!

Welcome to Clarksville as a civilian and to TGO.

Good on Joe and good luck to you in your come-back (for lack of a better phrase). Joe sounds like a good man, in all senses. Again good luck James.

Not just guns are verboten - if you are also a fan of and carry a bladed weapon: any knife with a a blade over 2.5 inches is considered a "weapon" and is thus prohibited in federal buildings.

Congrats, very nice...very very nice. Again congrats on the find.

A brief and well put analysis of the situation. Quite the mess. As the Kenyan saying goes, "when the elephants fight, the grass suffers". Reckon I am feeling very fescue like right now...

Hope you see this Memphismason - watching Science Channel (Factory Made) and they just showed how they make the Gerber Auto opener; cool process and tough looking knife. I thought of the pic of your EVO while watching; gotta be similiar, as this one had the serrated edge, too. The steel is so tough they have to retool the cutter for the serrations every three blades...

Interesting Reading/Commentary on the Arizona Shootings

Brilliant cartoon and so true... -
To hear the liberal press, you can get all the US guns you want just across the border in Mexico anyway; yep, they are Seriously, I wouldn't risk taking a gun in either - but I wouldn't go to Mexico on an all expense paid trip, either - I did all the time in Mexico as a young man I plan to do for the rest of my life.
