    357 for edc

I carry a SP101 357 with the short barrel. Summer carry is in a waist pack and winter carry is a fobuc tactical holster. the fobus is open so the longer barrel might just slide on through.
  2. I looking at buying an 8 shot 357. Wil shoot mostly 38s but wondered who had experience with the various models. Bill
  3. I just parked my carry ruger sp101 in 357, loaded with 38s. It is a tank and not much recoil with 38s. It is heavy though.
  4. I use 120 grains of pyrodex in my TC renegade and found that it can loosen the rear hunting sight. I have to tighten it once in a while.

    ruger

I carry the SP101 2.25 barrel and it is a little heavy without a holster. Shooting 357s in it is stout but 38+Ps work well. I changed the factory grip to a hogue one and that helped.
  6. Os, thanks and I thought I had missed something.
  7. this is the first I have heard about a CCL and one in the chamber Can anyone post up the statute? Might have to change my carryin' ways.
  8. Blackhawks can be pretty reasonable on sale...
  9. In a recent NRA catalog, they showed a thigh holster that goes inside your shorts or if you are a female, a dress. As a waist pack carrier in the summer, i was thinking this might work with more baggy shorts. Anyone wear one yet? What did you think? Bill
  10. I like the earlier 60 and 70's marlin lever actions and don't know much about them. Any items to looks for when I check used ones? Bill
  11. I have the Taurus 94 as well and even after lots of rounds, the trigger action is still stiff. I guess more shooting will be in order.
  12. No Ruger SP101 or even the Makarov (if we're thinking international)? My most carried would the the Sp101 and then a G19.
  13. I have the SVE9 and carried it for 4 years, shot it alot and once I got comfortable with the trigger, is was accuate and fun. Still use it as a back up. Good gun to see if you want a semi versus a revolver. No problrems with it at all.
  14. I can find the 686s but not the 586 and I am looking for the blued one. I found a 686 on armslist. for 550 so you are spot on for the price.
  15. I just read the review of the reissued 586 blue in 357. I am thinking I need one for sure and was wondering if anyone had picked one up yet? Bill
  16. I heard that the bill was sent to summer session...also known as never never land.... plot strategy for next year...
  17. Looks like I'm finding an off site place to park...
  18. Great comments and giving me lots to think on. mostly plinking at paper would be the use. As usual with guns I have lots of choices....
  19. How about an SKS, seems that they are still somewhat reasonable in price and ammo is cheap as well?
  20. Looks like a 9mm carbine is in the works.. I have a mosin and shooting the 7.62x54r is fun,
  21. I am wanting to get a rifle that is cheaper to shoot than my mauser and has more power than my10/22. Thinking of a 22 mag either in a 10/22 or a lever action. Any suggestions of which or other calibers? I theck ammunitiontogo.com and 22 mag looked pretty reasonable as a round. Bill
  22. i found some ammo on ammoman.com for a decent price. Mine has been sporterized.
  23. I think the bills are on deck for 8:00 this am so maybe we'll learnsomething by noon... then maybe a shopping trip for a auto gun box....
  24. g19 or a Sp101 357
  25. Found this note on the status of the bills: Guns legislation – despite the concerns of the business community, higher education, and law enforcement groups – moved quickly out of a House subcommittee with no debate and no amendments this week. All four measures — HB 3559, HB 3560, HB 3660 and HB 3479 — purport to guarantee gun owners’ ability to carry weapons to their jobs. They are headed to House Consumer and Employee Affairs at 8 a.m. next Tuesday. If passed out of Committee the four bills will head to the Calendar Committee. SB 2992 and SB 3002, companions to HB 3559 and HB 3560, were amended and currently sit in Senate Calendar committee.
