Have a US Army 1911, serial #299xxx, that I inherited from my father-in-law. He had bought a Colt 22 conversion kit in the 60's. Cheap way to shoot but the floating chamber still doesn't match the real fee of a 45. Records from Colt (in the 60's they answered inquiries) show it was shipped to the Army in April 1918.

Opry Mills is still closed. Only one store in the area open--Bass Pro Shops.

Don't know if this helps but my HCP instructor told us to travel to the range with weapons unloaded, magazine removed, ammo out of the magazine, and place the weapon and mags/ammo in separate parts of our vehicles because we did not have a permit to carry yet. Maybe that would solve the issue for the friend until he gets his HCP.

HCP limited to a particular weapon?
Just2Honor replied to BornToShoot's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Check with the school as some do not allow you to use a 22 cal for the range portion. Guess they want you to shoot a higher caliber since that would probably be what you'd carry. Better understanding of hand control, recoil, etc, I guess. It's legal since the state only sets the mini9mum standards. -
So I spoke with Applebees about their posting

Contacted TOOTS Restuarant chain about the same "old" signage last week. Owner emailed me that he had checked with folks in the capital and immediately had his managers remove the old signs in all locations. Evidently the restuarant association never sent out anything about the change or else everybody in his offices missed it. Guy seemed very appreciative that I told him of the change--sent me a gift certificate. -
I consider it a compliment, too! Some people look for something to be an a** about. You can't be the only place that asks so why not just have it ready while you're waiting for the staff to come to your table. You can't fix stupid!

Great sites. Unusual place. Its actually 10 areas in 4 counties that are under the South Cumberland State Recreation Area. Preserved a bunch of scattered places from development. As someone said, check out the Friends website.

What's the legal way to transport my weapon?
Just2Honor replied to SupaRice's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Can't remember, slept since my class! Do the same three steps appliy to a long gun since your HCP is for a handgun? (Note-I only carry a long gun to & from the range) -
Amen to NRA's comment. Pseudoephedrine is the key ingrediant--a must have. Some other things used are brake fluid, fuel for camping lanterns, etc. A big issue in my area is "mobile labs"--drive to a seculed spot, make the meth, then dump everything. Why anyone would ever consider putting something into their body that a person must wear a hazmat suit and respirator to clean up after is beyond me. The process itself is hazardous and dangerous. The leftover from the process is also extremely hazardous and some of these idiots are making it while their kids are crawing around on the floor! I'm for making it as hard as possible to get the ingrediants because I don't want a lab anywhere near me or where I go.

Well done, and thanks. Love the hammer analogy. A large part of our society, mostly in the liberal camp, wants to believe that no human could do such a thing so it must some thing's fault. They transfer their anger at an object not the human involved. Too many people ignored the warning signs. We need to quit coddling the misfits, criminals, and mentaly ill and either treat or segregate them from the rest of us. Now, I feel better!

My instructor said, "technically you shouldn't carry in a bank that is covered by FDIC because it coulod be classed as Federal property but that was a stretch" Left it up to each of us to decide. Regions branch in Tullahoma has a gun buster sign by front door.

Is permit required for black powder pistol?
Just2Honor replied to graywolf's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
Sorry, but what part of handgun carry permit is confusing? -
Actual response time by the correct law enforcement agency was less than 15 minutes--he would probably have forfeted his life at my house. That's too long! Now as Paul Harvey said, "The rest of the story" This didn't come out for a couple of days. She used a cell phone purchased in Nashville so the 911 call went to Nashville/Davidson Co who then transferred it to Wiliamson County based on the address they were given. They transferred it to Franklin city as it was their juresdiction. Moral: Use your landline so the Enhanced 911 system will pinpoint your location exactly.

And they get to vote !!

I agree with "why?'. Because our states have agreed to honor each others permits I can travel through GA and stay in FL as a non-resident with my weapon. To start applying for permits whereever I might travel negates the staes agreeing to anything about carrying weapons.

Gun certification class? Is this necessary?
Just2Honor replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
As I understood my instructor, TN certificates no longer required required him to record your weapon once he used up all the old certificates he had been issued by the Public Safety. They are serial numbered so he had to enter the weapon on some in the class but not all of us. Nowhe nolonger will do it for anyone. -
For MudBugjr. I call myself a "tweener" Live near the lake on the Manchester side so it's 6 of 1 or a half dozen of the other. Post Office calls it Manchester but I'm in the county

I obviously missed something in my handgun education! Somebody clue me in, quick! I need to go to WalMart today. What's with the "obligatory trip to Wall World" I keep reading about? Don't want to violate any "rights of passage", HCP rules, etc. I'm up to date on "mall ninjas" but need to get it straight about WalMart. Thanks in advance for setting me straight.

My nickname was given to me by my boss and the group of sales guys/gals in my region because on the way to the first meeting in Memphis after I moved here in 89 I tore up my company car's front end. Hit a coon dog near the Waverly exit at about 75 mph. Saw it coming across the median but too late to do anything but hold on to the wheel!
