  1. I vote for the two idiots in the Sonic ads, any lawyer ad, ED ads, and politicians.
  2. Congratulations on 12 years. Tomorrow is our 46th. Yea, I know, how did one woman put up with me so long?
  3. Couldn't help but notice the woman anchor's lead in: "Stockton Police used strong-arm tactics" Kinda set it up to be about a "victim" not a "perp". Then they show the second half and interview witnesses to the arrest before you show the start of the confrontation. He was resisiting and tried to take a policeman's weapon!! The TV reporters didn't follow up to find out he's a parole--not exactly an upstanding guy. That's why I don't watch the news and carefully screen wat I read.
  4. HCRoadie, I'm with you but I'll add that if you are not going to wear a seatbelt (or a helmit on a motorcycle) you should have proof of at least a $1 million each of medical and disability insurance. That way the rest of us won't have our medical payments and taxes paying for your choice. The choice is yours but so is the financial responsibility.

  6. Nashville Honor Flight departs this morning. I hope they have a grfeat sendoff. I know the reception and visit will be great for them. I went as part of the Southern Middle TN on Saturday, leaving from Huntsville Airport--cheaper tickets and less hassle than BNA. There were three other groups there that day--NW Arkansas, Buffalo, and Long Island. Sad to say that there is no group in the eastern or western part of TN listed on the main website.
  7. Great to hear good news. Ceck out my post under Honor Flight to see how you can elp some vets.
  8. I'm not posting this to get a pat on the back but to get some of you involved in a worthwhile endeavor for our veterans. I got way more out of this than I put in and I think you will too. This past Saturday I had the honor of accompaning a group of WWII and Korean War vets on a flight to visit their memorial, Tomb of the Unknown, and other veteran sights in DC. As a Guardian I was priveledged to help make their trip a great memory. We had a 92 year old and a nearly 90 female WWII Marine--drove a truck so some guy could be on the frontline. Some of tbhe tales they all can tell will amaze you. Check out www.honorflight.org and see if you can join a group in your area. If you can't afford to pay your way maybe you can spare some money to help them cover their costs--the trips are free for the vets. Like I said at the start, don't thank me, thank a vet by helping Honor Flight to honor them.
  9. Fire Mountain is good but there are a lot of suppliers. Try a search on the internet.
  10. Gary Slider of Handgun USA reports on Defensive Carry.org that NM has reversed their decision to cancel reciprocity with a lot of the states. TN is back on the list. Three states had already removed NM from their list!
  11. Welcome from a "tweener" at Lake Normandy I've learned a lot from this sometimes nutty group!
  12. According to several posts on Defensive Carry org's forum NM has cancelled their reciprocity with all but five states and TN isn't one of the five. Better check it out before you travel to NM. Forum posters in NM upset that now their permit to CC will be void in all but the five states.
  13. DaddyO, look at it this way, the state gets to use their definition of "retroactive", not Websters because it's their law. Back in the late 60's I worked for a textile machinery firm in SC. Company got a letter from the TN Dept of Revenue that they should have been collecting sales and use tax and making paymenrts to the state for 7 years. Pay up or lose your business in the state and get sued by the state. Several of us spent a couple of weeks going through invoices adding up the shipments to TN so the boss could send a check. Within two years NC, AL, MS, and Ga had hit him up for past sales and use tax. Had to statrt addign it to the cost and remitting to the states. Only difference is some web companies don't have to charge you but you are still responsible to TN for the tax. Don't like it either but its the rule we live by in TN. BTW, we habve an income tax. It's even called an "income tax"--The Hall Income Tax. It is on the income you make from certain investments.
  14. Don't see how anyone could see Obama, and for that matter the leadership of the Democratic Party, as "moderate". He is a Socialists of the Europen tradition and the leadereship is so Progressive minded that they are willing to put anyone in office that will further their idea that only the "educated elite" should govern.
  15. Call me a cynic. I think we are geting lip service so we feel good about them. Don't think any of them are pushing for it, even if they did co-sponsor. It's a "hot potato" so theykeep moving it around so they don't get burned. Sorry to say but I feel in the end they will do nothing meaningful and it will die.
  16. +1 Pain103. His outcomne probably would have been worst had he injured someone, much worst had he killed someone.
  17. +1 ThePunisher. Now that the field is virtually set, I'm all in for Romney. Remember, ABO (anybody but Obama) is the goal.
  18. Here's a sneaky Obama backed tax that is now HB 4646. O's administration hopes to pass it under the radar or wait until after the election. It places a 1% tax on all transactions going through a bank, credit union, etc. So if you get $1000 SS deposited in your bank account, they will deduct $10 for this tax and send it to the Feds. $2000 pension coats you $20. Your paycheck that goes to a bank costs you 1%. I buy something from you and you deposit the money in the bank--costs you 1% Now how much is all his spending costing you?
  19. Enfield, hope I wasn't a "Custer"! Trained basic trainees and then Drill Sargeants at Ft Bliss in 66-67. It was no piece of cake for us either. Wouldn't want to do it again--it's one reason I got out of the Army.
  20. Some great thoughts in this. Thanks for sharing them.
  21. To my generation she embodies what was wrong with the Americans that comdemned the warriors because they didn't support the Vietnam War. I woyuldn't walk across the street for her. She means absolutely zewro to me. A bug to either be ignored or squashed. Thankfully we don't look at our current warriors that way.
  22. You're right. I misread your intent. Sorry. I hope others don't take your example to heart.
  23. Not a lawyer so I can't speak about whether or not your actions would be legal. You are free to do whatever actions you want in an example like you used. As for me, when I decided to carry a weapon I took on the responsibility not to put myself into situations where I would provoke arguements, fights, altercations, etc. that might cause me to have to draw and use my weapon. Notice I said "provoke"--if the situation comes upon me through no actions by me then your example changes for me, too. The honk would have ended it for me. Legal or not would not be a consideration for me in following somebody after cutting me off. It was a matter of what I perceive to be my moral obligation as a weapon carrier. Not to mention the obligation I have to all the other legal carriers not to shine a bad light on them because of my actions.
  24. Maybe the Feds will takeover the Columbia case under the "Hate Crimes" statute. I won't be holding my breath!
