Just wondering... why so much on zombies on gun boards?
durtyzulu replied to East_TN_Patriot's topic in General Chat
yeah, that's what i was going to say. zombie outbreak is my reason for buying stuff my wife thinks we'll never use. -
jonin, that's it! i'm pretty stoked to know where it came from and more so that someone helped to find the info. i must've not been looking hard enough, most my knife research consists of a search on amazon. as for the knife itself, it was a hand me down and not one i typically use, it will go back to the wooden ammo box in the closet with the other hand me downs i don't use but won't get rid of : )

No markings on the blade other than the artsy stuff. Pops said he thought it was possibly an assassin blade due to the pointed blade, but the wide rounded portion is like a straight razor. I'm not assuming that it's a priceless relic, just a cool sturdy knife.

I'm no knife expert, a simple sog folder suits my need and ego just fine. That being said, I'm posting to get knowledgeable info from an expert. I have what is best described as an old imported exotic lock back. It doesn't have any markings other than some artwork on the blade that's mostly faded off. I've never seen another like it since I got it approximately 15 years ago from my parents who bought it at a years at a yard sale. Thanks!Snapbucket pictures by durtyzulu - Photobucket

I'm not a big fan of the xd, but they're good handguns. Have you looked at a sig sauer p6/p225? They're one of my favorites if you don't mind a used gun and want to save a couple bucks. The mags can be a little pricey considering they're nothing special, but everything else about them makes it one of my favorite carry guns.

I just switched from a sao in .40 s&w to plain vanilla p226 DAK 9mm. I really like the trigger pull being the same all the time. I also like the double strike capability but try not to put a lot of faith in that feature. The only thing I want to change on my 26 is a threaded bbl cause it looks cool and maybe a couple of the 19-20 mags they have for that hi cap version, if they will fit. I haven't tried the e2, the short trigger is sexy.

i just got a crossbreed super tuck from another member for my p226 and it's worked better than anything else i've tried for concealment. i also use a galco combat master that doesn't conceal quite as well but does good enough. i'm with the other guy that advised against carrying SOB.

I don't understand why that silver lady in the photo would even carry a gun. She doesn't have any arms!

Hard Chrome in the Nashville Area
durtyzulu replied to R1100R's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
I used to but been out of the game for 8 years. If I recall the usual suspects are leonard plating on 4th av, s&h in rivergate or certified if they're still over in hermitage. Hope it helps! -
I haven't been to d&t yet but they must be doing something right! I have been to on target but they lost my business when they quoted me $45 + $10 for a handgun transfer and bgc. I've been to the outpost in "murfreesboro" 3 times in the past few months, their selection is good but don't expect anyone to go out of their way to help you. The folks at guns and leather in hendersonville always treat me right.

Awareness thru exposure perhaps. You may notice it more now but I wouldn't concern myself with the intentions of everyone you notice that conceals a handgun unless they draw it or it's your job and you risk dying before the end of your shift. All types of people carry handguns for whatever reason they choose but it's a lot easier to spot the bulge on the hip of the guy carrying a glock 21 under a dillon tshirt than it is a little old lady with a hammerless j frame in a supertuck. It will take some time for it to feel normal for you to carry a concealed handgun and be confident that not everyone is staring at you and trying to figure out if you are. That's normal at first. Just do it lawfully and with a little thought toward concealment. Lucky for most of us the latter has been figured out for what most of us carry.

No one will trade me an ar15 or send me friend requests.

Beretta 92F Jamming Problems
durtyzulu replied to DocZombie's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
I recently borrowed a 92fs from a buddy at work and begged him to sell it to me with no success. I can't blame him for not wanting to sell it, if it was mine I would keep it and request they bury me with it when I die. It started off as a cop trade in beat all to h. He replaced the trigger, recoil spring and guide rod and dropped in a skeletonized hammer and jumbo mag release button and 3 dot sights from a high end 96, sent it to birdsong for green t and topped it off with ctc grips. It's a beauty and combat work horse. It works fine, just wanted to share my joy in regards to cop trade berettas. -
Bringing back the nickel with FLITZ ?
durtyzulu replied to FUJIMO's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
I make my own nickel cleaning compound that I call "gun biscuit" I've used it on eletroless and standard nickel finishes for a long time. It's not a secret recipe and the ingredients are really easy to find. I use a can of bartender's friend powder, a bottle of brasso liquid polish (both can be found at kroger, home depot, etc) and 1/3 cup of ultra fine white aluminum oxide which can be found at harbor freight labeled for use in an "air erased" dump them all in a plastic container with a resealable lid, mix and let it sit for a couple days until the liquid has evaporated and it looks like biscuit dough. I've found it works best with nyon brushes in this state. This will make a lot and you can add water as needed. This is just something that works well for me, is inexpensive and easy to make and works well for me on nickel finishes that aren't in need of anything but a little elbow grease. Gun biscuit! Learn it, use it, love it, but don't eat it! -
i'm still new here and can't even figure out how to add a photo to my profile because it's not a huge priority, but i clicked on this topic just to see what new people were posting and noticed a less than encouraging trend. why would 197 people view a new member intro thread but only 4 reply? you took the time to click on it, but must not have had the extra 40 seconds it takes to type hello and click reply. it's not like they're trying to sell a ruger, so please try to keep in mind that an armed society is supposed to be a polite one. thanks.

greetings! i'm new on the forum too but always encouraged by seeing new gun people!

Caney fork is great. If you go to the fly shop at bass pro, they have the generating schedule on the white board, as well as what flies are working best. Fly south in nashville also has that info, but I go to bass pro because it's closer and they have ammo and candy :-) another good place is the creek over at loretta lynn's ranch, it's accessible to the public.

Has anyone been to an outbreak omega shoot by DPMS?

hey y'all. it's always awkward being the new guy but i will insert myself and impact every situation i am a part of! TN native and i like the firearms! i don't do a lot of hunting and shooting, but i live to work on them! i realize that anyone with enough motivation can order whatever they want from brownells and attempt to do it themselves, but i step in and assist all the others who don't. i probably won't be on here very much, i initially joined to network with locals about gun parts and such. i don't claim to be an expert on any matter other than preparing for the zombie pandemic that is bound to happen. i appreciate the nod for the forum by the way. i'm easy to talk to and easy to find. if i ask anyone a question or for advice, it's because i really do wish to know. see you around! zulu
