Our Family Dog passed away yesterday afternoon
durtyzulu replied to Armed Aviator's topic in General Chat
I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. I have an american bulldog pup, who's full speed at everything and won't give any indication that he's ready to cool down or go inside. If you set a bag of ice out for him to lay on, he'd just pick it up and run off with it, or eat it. Luckily, my better half and our other 3 dogs are smarter than me and my boy. Again, I'm sorry to hear about your loss. http://i1130.photobucket.com/albums/m526/durtyzulu/Snapbucket/319b3f80-8fd9-4697-9e19-5f7f0390e231.jpg -
All my guns are zombie guns! This is one I painted for a co-worker. She picked the color. http://i1130.photobucket.com/albums/m526/durtyzulu/Snapbucket/1ecf3b51-orig.jpg http://i1130.photobucket.com/albums/m526/durtyzulu/Snapbucket/3ca03e7e-orig.jpg http://i1130.photobucket.com/albums/m526/durtyzulu/Snapbucket/0a96df4b-orig.jpg http://i1130.photobucket.com/albums/m526/durtyzulu/Snapbucket/2ac2038e-orig.jpg

I appreciate all the replies. I got my holster on Tuesday and have carried it since. Even with the larger hogue grip, it hides very well in cargo pants and shorts. It's a bit bulky for jeans and dress pants, but the holster rides well tucked iwb when I wear a good belt. I am as happy as I can be with this as my carry rig til I get my baby. Thanks again for the info. Zulu http://i1130.photobucket.com/albums/m526/durtyzulu/Snapbucket/9140303e-orig.jpg

I like SOG folders. They're not the best or worst, but they work for me. I've carried a trident tanto for about 4 years. The blade on it feels like a chisel and retaining the edge is very simple. I also have the pentagon elite 1 that I swap out with the trident from time to time and it's nice, but I like the trident better. It's spring assist and has a cool safety feature. The scales feel better than the pentagon too.

I was just made aware of knifekits.com .. seems like it would be fun to make a fixed blade fighter and your own sheaths. Has anyone built one on a kit from them? ***i originally posted this from my phone but just saw all those up there on my computer.. very nice knives robtattoo! the Irish one is my favorite.

Almost there... my first custom 1911!
durtyzulu replied to durtyzulu's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Yeah, it wasn't trying to start a debate, just wanted to brag about my first custom gun. I will post pics of mine in progress and when it's done. Anyone who wants to see chad's work for themselves can look under authorized vendors at d&t arms, or better yet, drive out there and handle one. -
I need a k-31 too. Does anyone have them for good wholesale prices these days?

Care to elaborate on that? -

DIY How to help on Weapon Painting (diamond camo)
durtyzulu replied to a topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Decoy bag :-) If you do go that route, grab a couple cans of cheap spray paint, and go over your templates a couple times and let it dry. It will keep your paint from going thru both the fabric and the holes. -
I had the pleasure of sitting down with Chad Kandros, owner of Kandros Customs in Hendersonville TN. He's building my first custom gun, a 1911 government tactical on a matte black oxide/blued carbon steel upper and lower with stainless steel internal and control parts. After getting to know Chad and seeing his work (you can too at d&t arms) I have no doubt that this will be the finest handgun I have or will ever own. I can't wait til it's done so I can have it mainly, but also show some photos!

DIY How to help on Weapon Painting (diamond camo)

If you mean diamond, like diamond plate metal, Lauer sells that template. I've never used fishnet stockings, for paint. But I'm sure the would work well. I like decoy bags too. You can cut them long enough to cover a rifle and have a uniform pattern. Good luck with your project! I look forward to seeing photos! -
That photo should be better ^^ I found this in the box, in another box, in a pile of boxes, etc. While cleaning out my great aunt's house after she passed away. I think she bought it new, never fired it, and eventually forgot she had it (she lived to be 102). They're not worth much and not what I consider reliable. I like it cause it was hers.

I think trading 3 guns for 1 is a bad trade no matter what it is. Forgive me for saying so, but a 3 gun plus cash for a 1911 sounds like a really bad impulse buy. I think you'd end up regretting it if you did. Sell one or two, sit on that cash and save up for a custom 1911. Oh, and can you please show me the way to the dime a dozen glocks?

Ha! I dig this one out from time to time just for funsies. http://i1130.photobucket.com/albums/m526/durtyzulu/Snapbucket/0b045457-orig.jpg

Thank you all for the info. I ordered the nemesis and should get it middle of this week. I have a galco speed paddle for it but it's not exactly built for concealment. Most of the pants I wear are baggy enough to accommodate pocket carry. Sent from my DROID2 using Tapatalk

You and I are about the same size. I wear a lot of propper lightweight tactical pants and the best belt I've used is the cobra belt by SOE. It's thick and won't work with all pants, but it will give you super powers! I'm kidding , it doesn't give you super powers, but it will make you want to buy your pants just to fit your belt.

I've been eyeballing that thing everytime I go. I'll snag one next time I go by.

I'd like to hear what anyone has to say about pocket holsters for a sp101 or j frame. My 1911 is under construction, so im carrying a snubbie (for the first time) til it's done. I know I like belt and iwb holsters a lot after carrying an auto in one or the other over the course of 13 years, but i'm not sure how I feel about a pocket holster in my front pocket. I hope to hear from those of you who have already done the homework. Please let me know how it's worked for you. Thanks!

Laugh if you will, but my (wife's) pomeranian is fearless. It's fun to watch her bite our bully's face as he carries her across the living room.

I'm not a big kimber fan. I think the best 1911 out there for the $ are made by Chad Kandros and on sale at d&t arms. Just my opinion and I'm putting my $ where my mouth is, he's building my 1911. Sent from my DROID2 using Tapatalk

Metro prohibits firearms on most of their properties unless it's sworn leo or property guards. If it's their property, they post it on the door. Sent from my DROID2 using Tapatalk
