I had a PLR-16 that I bought with the vertical for-grip installed by the previous owner. It would not feed worth a crap and was way too inaccurate for my taste. After trying a viriety of sights and magazines I wanted it gone. I had no idea that the grip was illegel untill I went to trade it in. The shop I was in was nice and took the grip off in 10 sec. flat and THEN explaned. The vertical grip was useless because with the brake sending the sound into your face it was unbairably loud and impossable to aim. This is one of the only two guns I have ever sold or traded. Mine looked cool but was useless for anything.

Walmart is the first place I would look.

run in with the twra today ,carry question?
Mason replied to ccarrier's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
It is my understanding from speaking with a TWRA agent (on Boone as well) that the signs are in place to prevent target practice on the boat ramps. As any duck hunter knows, TVA property is legal to hunt. I spend a ton of time on Boone lake and carry on my person when fishing and in my boat when wakeboarding & such. I have had conversations with TWRA agents with handguns in open view on my boat and have never recieved any comments. Also TVA properties are legal to hunt provided you follow all local laws. OP, if you are in a boat would it not be covered under the castle doc. just like the car that you left it in? Out of sight = out of mind. -
SCORE:Santa came early. He brought me a sweet 5.5 inch UDX buckmark with the dark laminate grips and stainless barrel. My wife is wonderful and I am blessed to have her.

Santa all I have asked for is a Browning Buckmark with some fancy rosewood grips. Remimber I didn't get anything last year or the year before. I think my wife took a long lunch last week to show you where to find it since elves don't make anything that nice. Thanks and I will leave you some extra jerky this year.

What's with the name calling? I have owned a respectable number of 22 rifles and as stated, my luck with the 10/22 left me scratching my head. I have not shot one that can get through a factory 10 round magazine without some kind of failure. Your experiance may vary.

This is gonna stir up some stink but I hate the 10/22 platform. I have two of them and shot MANY others over the years. They are unreliable, feel cheap, overpriced, overrated, and frankly have no personality. I have paid a lot less money for Marlin model 60's and 795's that shoot group better and actually feed out of the box. I know everyone loves the Ruger 10/22 because they have such a great aftermarket selection but come on why spend more than you paid for the gun in accessories just to make it shoot. Come on guys get something with character or something that groups and feeds.

If you are passing through Owensboro, KY stop by Whitikers Gun Shop. That is by far my favorite gun shop out of state. I bet you will not leave without buying something.

none that I know of in the tri-cities area at the moment. I think Kettlefoot in Bristol is having IDPA shoots on a regular basis now. I have some friends who shoot there alot but I have no firsthand experiance with the place.

Thank you all for the replies. I have been too busy working to fool with the rifles. With your encuragement I will grab a screw driver and see if I can work them off this weekend. I want to get my rifles cleaned up and see if they will shoot this weekend. Thanks again.

I recently got my first two 91/30's and have had a great time cleaning them up. I can not figure out a way to get the barrel bands removed without doing damage to the stocks or bands. Does anyone have a tip or trick to remove these things without major problems? Thank you in advance.

I am with you folks. My Pandora Radio on my phone is loaded up with John Anderson,Clint Black, Garth Brooks, Confederate Railroad, Earl Thomas Connaly, Charlie Daniels, David Allan Coe, Chris LeDoux, and Dwight Yoakam. I can thank of maybe 3 songs released in the past 10 years that I enjoy. The only ones to blame are the lazy radio DJ's that play the same 50 songs over and over rather than looking up something new, local, or different than the neighboring stations.

Buy something with a good fire rating. I sugest an hour at 1200 degrees as a starting point. Remimber that your collection will grow so pick a safe that allows the interior layout and capacity that will accomidate your future needs, not your current firearms. Look around for other items that you would not want to loose in a fire like your documents, laptop, camera, list of ex-girlfriends phone numbers, photos, etc. Lastly, look at the location you plan to put your safe. be sure you can get it there and secure it once in place. Bigger, thicker, heavier, and uglier are typically better. Lastly, do not give anyone the code/combo (especially your wife) because they do not always need to know when "another stupid gun" shows up.

Thank you. I have a great place to go less than a mile from my house. What I do not have is expriance or a properly set up bow. I would like to get an additional bow to use strictly for fish and frogs.

I want to bow fish for gar from the tower on my wakeboard boat.

I have one in the safe...... But I have never shot it. I like the 007 type gadgets and such. The rifle seems to made of low quality materials including a weak stock and barrel. The sights seem good enough to take small game or cans at up to 30 yards or so. Henry is a great company and turns out many quality products so I assume that they would not place their name on this rifle without confidance. I do look forward to shooting mine to see how it feeds and groups but I do not have very high expectations. I do not regret buying my US Survivsl rifle but it is the only rifle I own that I do not want more than 1 of. In a true survival setting I would be prefer a Marlin in eather model 60, 795, or the 795 PPS (for your backpacking use).
-
I agree. Buy the Ruger or Browning and you will get more for your coin. The walther and Browning are O.K. Rimfire pistols but they are not as accurate and just don't feel as good in my hand. I like a longer barrel on my rimfire handguns due to the longer sight picture. They are not as easy to carry but I would not carry a .22 LR handgun for anything but hunting anyway.

A good dump.

I have a seperate Craftsman tool box lined with rubber backed felt. It works great and locks. I also stach a few in random places because I am too lazy to put them in the toolbox.

Smoky Mtn. Knife Works makes all others look like a rip off. From my experiance you will pay about 35% more if you shop somewhere else. If you only want 1 or 2 $50 knives the differance will not kill you. If you walk out of SMKW and don't buy at least two you have stronger will than I. I have also found knives that I liked and called SMKW to price shop and they were cheaper including shipping.

There is verry little that I would change. We all know where "change" got us. Anyway, I would like to have been sitting in a few of the many classrooms where shots were fired in a highschool or college. The only differance is that I would like to be there with a dozen or so other students who were legally armed. And I would take a Glock 22 with 15 rounds of .40 and a couple spare mags.

Would the sight picture be improoved due to the sights being just a few more inches from your eye? Basic physics show better sight picture SHOULD be achieved by getting further back behind the gun. I'm just guessing but it sounds good to me.

Is permit required for black powder pistol?
Mason replied to graywolf's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
I do not have a clue. I looked up your question a few years back with no good answer. I wanted to carry but legally couldn't due to my age. I bought a flare gun and kept it under my truck seat untill I turned 21.
