I am still using the same open-face browning I had as a kid. I've caught my biggest and smallest fish on it. I don't know if it's lucky or not but it's still my favorite.

This may not be the right place, but they are kind of similar.

What other gear are you thinking of? I am not really sure. I will probably start off doing 1-2 night over nights. Hikes like that, just to get out in the woods and enjoy myself. I realize that this is an expensive hobby, but for the hikes I plan on going on secondhand gear is all I'll need. -
I just bought a Mora Companion Stainless Steel. This is probably the first knife that I have bought myself that I actually want to take care of. So I was wanting to get some pointers on how to take care of it. I want it to actually last. Also, do any of you know where to get a new sheath for it? I got the neon orange one so it wouldn't lose it in the woods, but the sheath looks ridiculous carrying it on my waist. Not that I care about looks, but this sucker sticks out like a sore thumb. Thanks for the help.

I have a story to share. This is my friend Jesse and here is his story http://copingthrutravel.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html If you don't read it that is fine, I will sum up the main points for you. I met him in college and to say he least he is very eccentric, but the best friend I have ever had. He worked his way through college on a very limited budget, but would give you anything you needed if he had it. So, he got through college moved back home and now it has been a few months and he still hasn't found a job. He doesn't really have anywhere to go and on top of that has discovered he has skin cancer. He doesn't have insurance, but he hasn't let it cripple him. He has decided that he is going to do what he loves and is going to backpack/bike the country and see all the things he has always dreamed of seeing. The reason I am posting his story here is because: 1. He is probably doing what all of has dreamed of. 2. I was wanting you guys to maybe drop by give his story a read and leave some advice and encouragement. 3. He has some stuff he is trying to sell to help fund his trip and their may be some things some of you all are interested in. 4. Because if there was ever a guy that I would want to help out it would be him. Thank you all for your time. Tyler

Well I don't think he made it that far haha.

You wouldn't happen to live in Elizabethton would you? That looks exactly like a spike I saw a couple weeks ago, walking on the side of the road. Also, not asking out of rudeness.
-
It was nice. We didn't see anything, but we seen signs of some deer. Hopefully, going back out here soon.
-
I went hunting over in a Elizabethton, we spooked one going in, then when we were walking around we seen a spot where four of them had bedded down. However, when were on the highway back into Johnson City we seen 3 doe's on the left side of the road and about 150 yards down the road we seen a spike trying to figure out how a chain link fence works. So, no I ain't seen none in the woods yet but plenty on the side of the road.

I honestly don't even care if I get one. I just want the chance to go sit in the woods for a few hours.

Hey, I am closer than I was last year at least.
-
I got the gun (borrowed my little brothers) and I got the land to hunt, now I just need the decoys and calls and the time off work and the time between work and school and time between work and school and the old lady and this all to be before the 25th and I'll hopefully get me a turkey. Wish me luck!!!

It might not be that they aren't any for sale, I just haven't found one yet. Mostly because I don't know where to look. I will mostly be using it to shoot around the farm etc. Thank you all for the info.
-
I've been looking for a used one, no luck yet.
-
Did you all buy a new rifle, or use an used one? If you use a new one, did you just get the woodstock or what? I am looking at picking one up and probably won't do anything to it as soon as I get it, but I was wondering what would be best for later endeavors. Or if someone would like to edge me towards the Savage .22 model, I am all ears.

I guess my first question should be are there any pawn shops in Johnson City that sell guns? Secondly, are there any pawnshops in the surrounding areas I should check out? I will be around Johnson City and then heading down to Elizabethton later in the evening. I just thought I should get some advice in advance. Thanks in advance.

I just got into shooting bows last year. I have never been bow hunting. I am wanting to kill a turkey and a deer, or at least a chance to kill one. I was just wondering if there was anyone in the Washington county/Greene County area with any land I could hunt or help hunt or just take me along. I could pay, not sure how much. I am just exploring my options. Thanks for any help. Tyler

I have never been there at night, so thanks for the warning. I have about gave up on fishing there. I have caught a couple good ones, but not enough to warrant going back many more times.
-
Edit: I meant I have been to Boone Lake. The walkway/pier thingy under the overpass by the park.
-
Anyone do any fishing in Johnson City? I would like to catch some catfish or stripes or trout. Just some fish to eat. I've went to Watauga lake quite a few times and caught a couple but not enough to help. Thanks for any help. Tyler

Hahaha I had just never seen one. Kind of surprised me. It is scary though -

I am pretty sure he (the head coach now) had a stipulation in his contract that guaranteed him 4 more years if something like this happened. Do not take my word for it though.
