  1. I think TNCarry.org is a good idea. It is a good idea as an adjunct political forum for TGO members who want to organize to do more in the political arena. If TGO members really view TFA as impotent or not representing them, another parallel organization makes sense. TGO should remain apolitical-- but another group TNCarry.org that tries to get things done could be helpful, perhaps even actually effective. I am involved a bit with local government regarding creating better conditions for bicyclists in Memphis. We split the organization in a similar fashion. We have the apolitical club, and then we have a bicycling advocacy group that does not fall under the club's purview or control. Keeps it cleaner that way.
  2. Argument Over Who's Paying for Gas Leads to Stabbing, Arrests ATHENS, Tenn. (AP) -- Athens police say two men walking to get gas for their empty car started fighting over who should pay for it and ended up in jail, one with minor stab wounds. Police said both David A. Lundsford of Sweetwater and Roger Gifford of Athens remain in custody pending a court appearance Friday. A police report shows Lundsford suffered a minor stab wound in the abdomen, apparently inflicted with a pocket knife early Wednesday. A witness told police that she saw Lundsford punching Gifford. Lundsford told officers that he and Gifford were walking north on Congress Parkway after running out of gas and they started arguing about who should pay when they got to the pump. Both men are charged with public intoxication.
  3. If you're a gun owner and you don't have your head stuck up somewhere the sun don't shine, you have to realize you are de facto involved in politics. Some of us just make it a little more official than the others. I'll vote for you, saintsfan.
  4. Lately it seems I spend all my spare time going to orthopedic specialists and practicing pain management for myself. That's a result of my major hobby, bicycling. I have taken bicycling, a graceful, beautiful sport, to the level of hockey.
  5. And another welcome.
  6. Welcome.
  7. I'm gonna pack all of mine up in cosmoline and put them in the bat cave until the BATFE goons give up the bat hunt.
  8. When I carry I often wear bike shorts, a bike jersey, bike shoes, a helmet, and bike gloves. Oh yeah, and a bicycle. 5.11 doesn't make any tactical bicycle clothing yet... but the market has doubled- there are two of us now.
  9. Welcome, neighbor.
  10. Being in business for myself, I know that money talks. I hate to lose money due to my own errors, ignorance, or to government stupidity. If the other side (whoever they are) sees $$$ going somewhere else, that might mean something to someone who will change things. If all 190,000 TN permit holders were to eat a $10 meal, that would be $1,900,000. That sounds like a lot to me. Almost 2 million dollars. How does this sound if you are a restaurant owner? "Today almost 2 million dollars was spent in TN restaurants by handgun carry permit holders. Your establishment was illegal for us to eat in, so your restaurant didn't get any of that 2 million dollars. It is time for Tennessee's antiquated handgun carry laws to change". Maybe we could do it on Bill of Rights day, December 15th. Spend 2 million in TN restaurants that don't sell alcohol. And then make sure it gets told.
  11. Welcome.
  12. Welcome.
  13. Congrats! Enjoy. Go somewhere.
  14. Yes, ...and? Is gun carryin' bike ridin' lawn mowin' hippie an oxymoron? Not in my experience. America is a great country. Had hair down to my shoulders when I enlisted- grew it back after I got out. And bikes are great- like this one-- that's a couple members of my bike club training to ride through Orange Mound-- sometimes I get to be tail gunner.
  15. I am in business for myself and I use a Treo with a Palm platform to keep track of my business-- it does what I need it to do. They say the Palm platform is more stable/less buggy, and they also say that it won't be around a lot longer. I used to carry a PDA and a phone- before that I carried a daytimer and a phone. Now I just carry one thing, synchronize it with a computer at home and at work, and all my info is the same in 3 different places- on my phone, at my house, and at my office. I like that a lot. I use it for appointment scheduling, note taking, shopping lists, memos, texting, light e-mailing, light web browsing, a little MP3 now and then, maps, taking pictures, and, oh yeah, it is a very decent phone in my experience-- sounds good, has a lot of nice phone features I like, and the phone data integrates well with the palm contacts lists. I only have one phone and this is it. No landlines anywhere. I do use skype some, too. My wife has a landline, so I can use that if the zombies eat the internet and the cell towers.
  16. I have a small lawn. A couple of years ago I bought one of the old-style pushmowers- no gas required, not many parts to break, real quiet. The new mowers are lighter and more efficient than the ones I pushed when I was a kid. I like it a lot better, and for a small lawn there really isn't a lot of time difference compared to using one with a gas motor. I gave the old gas-powered mower away. I do have to stay on top of things, though. When the grass is growing, if I don't mow every 2 weeks, it is really hard to cut. But then, I ride a bike to work instead of using a car-- kinda fits, I guess.
  17. I love watching great athletes compete, but I don't like the rabid commercialism that infects the sports world these days. I got to hang out for a few hours with some Tibetan monks a few years back- they were in Memphis doing concerts of traditional folk music and dance, raising money for their monastery. These guys were really cool- nice, mellow, very funny, very human. They wanted to eat at Burger King for one of their meals!! But, they were all living in India, in exile.
  18. Not all black folks are liberal welfare state advocates like Bozo Obama. I like this guy, Ken Blanchard, http://www.blackmanwithagun.com . I don't think he likes Obama too much. Ken is an Ex-Marine, NRA member/instructor, minister, debated Al Sharpton on gun control on TV, was featured in an anti-Michael Moore movie called "Michael and Me", and wrote a great little book called Black Man with a Gun. Ken has a great podcast, too- I listen to it pretty much every week or so when he puts out a new one.
  19. Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition. Whoops- was I clinging again?
  20. Welcome.
  21. I bought a couple of AKs from this fellow Mark Graham- he is a gunsmith in AZ who puts his own special touches into the AK's he assembles- they are good to go out of the box if he sells them to you. http://arizonaresponsesystems.com/ Visit the above link and then click the 'store' button to find the firearms he currently has in stock.
