  1. Welcome
  2. I think he'll be ok from what I heard from the TV station. I'd probably end up shooting myself, the dog, and my partner if I were in the same situation!! I've posted this video before, but it is good if you haven't seen it-- it shows how fast a dog attack can happen. [ame]http://youtube.com/watch?v=bkxvcHdXDCI[/ame]

    Model 19 Glock

I have a G19- like it a lot. Bought it for reliability, lower price than many weapons, 9mm ammo is cheaper, my wife can shoot the G19 well, etc etc. Just got a Glock 26 which is the baby brother of the G19. 10 rd 9mm magazine but it can use the mags from the G19. It is a little smaller, thus a little more easy to conceal. I'll probably get a full sized Glock at some point. Glock around the clock.
  12. Welcome. Spent 6 years overseas on active duty-- lotsa memories now, mostly good ones. Hang in there. Thanks.
  13. Welcome from Memphis, which is not in the middle of nowhere, but it is in the middle of somewhere that is like nowhere else in the rest of the state.
  14. Welcome from Memphis. I have had 2 kids graduate from UT myself. Another is now studying at the "other" UT in Austin, TX.

    Hi!

    Welcome.
  18. Welcome- I live near U of M. My wife and I have 2 Glocks so far- a 19 and a 26 (both 9mm). We got Glocks 'cuz my wife and I can both shoot Glocks well enough. We are closest to Rangemaster on Mendenhall. My wife took the CCW class there and it was 40% women- 12 men, 8 women. She was pretty comfortable in the class.
  19. Welcome wTiger. I am new to handguns. Learning a lot here.
  20. Welcome.
  21. In case you haven't seen this attack dog video-- watch how fast it can happen. I don't think I have the speed & awareness to stop one of these critters before I am bitten. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RwwiXcTphzk]attack dog video[/ame]
  22. On another point relevant to this incident (and to everyone's safety)- I heard that 85% of gunshot victims survive, but only 65% of stabbing victims survive. I imagine we're all familiar with that Tueller Drill (the 21 foot rule). Getting too close to anyone with a knife, even a kitchen knife, can get you killed, even if you are QuickDraw McGraw. Stabbing can happen much faster than most imagine. I think I'd just let the purse snatcher go- the only way I can know he isn't armed is if he is naked (and then there's the cavity search, but we won't go there!). No purse is worth risking my life over.
  23. Welcome.
  24. Welcome- I am somewhere around Exit 8 or something-- rarely drive on those big fast roads, so I don't really know. But I remember seeing exit 196 once or twice.
  25. Welcome from Memphis, Enfield. Where is Athens, anyway?
