  1. Welcome to TGO. I was born & raised in Atlanta (East Point/College Park). Been here in Memphisto for 19 years now.
  2. And the Republikanazis are nothing but saints, I presume? No republican administration has ever lied, cheated, duped, or used the American people for power or profit? It is about character and people, not parties-- but it seems to me that all politicians that are electable at the national level are corrupt at this point in this country. All we get to pick is what type of corruption we want running the Orville Office. I'll vote for the corrupt party that is most likely to preserve my 2nd Amendment rights. This week, it looks like the Republicans. Next week, who knows?
  3. I was sick 2 years ago for 2 days-- can't remember when it was before then. I never get flu shots or the flu. I am fortunate in that regard. However, I have spent a few thousand dollars and a lot of hours on injuries sustained while having what I considered to be "fun". Others have called it "stupid". But, no flu.
  4. Hi there.
  5. Netflix rules. They have so many movies. Scr$w Regal and all the rest of 'em.
  6. It helps a lot if you shave your legs first.
  7. My wife and I took the HCP class together from Tom Givens at Rangemaster in Memphis- only 10 minutes from our house. The course was spread over two evenings. We both have Ph.D.'s- I am a psychologist and she is a professor at the U of Memphis. Being academically oriented, we both actually studied for the written test and, naturally, we both passed it easily. Afterward Givens pointed out to the class that all of the answers to the written test were in plain sight on the classroom walls-- training posters, diagrams, charts, etc. All you had to do was look around and everything was answered for you. There was some sort of lesson in that for my wife and I.
  8. Welcome from a Memphomaniac.

    Poor, poor, poor

Congrats on getting out of that trap. More money for things that are important-- like guns and ammo. I have not owned a car for 7 years. My wife has one. I have 7 bicycles instead. NASCAR just isn't that interesting for bicycle drivers.
  10. This could come in handy in Memphis --- sometimes I am not careful about the time and I am caught out after dark, when the Zombies come out--- this might help me fight my way back home.
  11. Where do you think Hillary conceals hers?
  12. Welcome from a fellow Memphomaniac. I have been here 18 years and I am getting too old to move, so I may be here for the duration. I live near the U of M- where r u?
  13. Caveat: I am not a lawyer. But I am someone who works in the mental health system. It doesn't sound like she was treated in the hospital or hospitalized for any treatment- it sounds like she was evaluated and released after the maximum 3 day watching-holding period. But- they can do this sort of thing in any hospital, not just mental ones-- it is not uncommon at all for an ER to hold someone for a day or longer to evaluate their mental status. So, in my opinion, (again, I am not a lawyer and I could be way off base with this) this does not meet the spirit of the law. She might technically not qualify, but I don't think that what she went through is what the law intends to screen out. And, if she was a minor, she had no legal ability to consent to (or refuse) treatment at any inpatient mental health facility-- that would have had to come from parents or some other authority (like the state). So basically minors who are treated in psych facilities are legally incapable of being there voluntarily even if they know they need that kind of help and even if they want that help. So I don't think the "involuntarily committed" question legally can apply to a minor- I think it is a question that applies only to persons with adult status (For example, minors cannot legally voluntarily consent to have sex with adults, even if they want to-- same principle-- it is always legally involuntary with minors.) Just some thoughts. No answers, but thoughts.
  14. Welcome from your neighbor in Memphis.
  15. Here's something similar but different- Looks like a man purse, you can throw it over your shoulder or just carry it in your hand-- good for malls, etc. I use it around Memphis and so far so good. I like it- access isn't as fast as a traditional holster, but it really isn't bad. http://store.thewilderness.com/index.php?cPath=51
  16. LMAO! {Hey there big boy, is that a Glock in your (bike) shorts or are you just glad to see me?} I bought a Glock 26 on sale-- stuck it in my saddlebag and rode home.
  17. Well, I was in a fluorescent yellow bike jersey and tight black bike shorts-- I was smelly and sweaty having ridden a few miles on my bicycle to get there-- my bike was parked out front-- maybe they just wanted to get me out the door so they wouldn't be embarrassed. They seem a bit homophobic to me, i.e., insecure in their masculinity.
  18. I don't think there are laws prohibiting carrying ammunition in places you cannot carry a hand gun, except perhaps on an airliner, so I think this would be ok. Not a bad idea, to me-- I'll be interested in what some of the more experienced and legally astute TGO members have to say about this.
  19. Well, I haven't been to Guns & Ammo that much- only 6-7 times, all in 2007. Bought one pistol from them just before Christmas '07. Had to wait a few minutes because someone was ahead of me. Gave them my visa, did the thumb print thing and walked out with my handgun- no hassles, no problems. I'd buy from them again based on my experiences there. Just my experience.
  20. Congrats Metal.
  21. All safe here in Memphisto- it was close- major damage 2-3 miles away from us. Wife and I had our bug out bags ready to go, glocked and loaded, just in case.
  22. Lucky dog- does your cousin work there or something? It took me and my wife about 65 days. So where you going to go first?
  23. I liked the game- I have always been a fan of good defense and there was plenty of that last night, so I was happy. I saw Petty in Munich in 1984 or so- wasn't much different. Good song writer, not a flashy performer. In Munich he was obviously too loaded to play well-- he was chugging wine on stage, wasn't walking too well. He & the boys played 1 short set and left-- no encore. There were about 3,000 people in the audience.
  24. Well-- An interesting development- I had a pretty severe crash Tuesday evening while riding my bike home from work. I was knocked out briefly-- someone called an ambulance. I definitely needed one! The ambulance carted me to the Med's trauma center. My bike is being stored by a resident who lives near where I crashed. I was too fuzzy to make any arrangements to do this myself. I didn't have my wits about me- that's what a concussion will do. Had I been carrying (I wasn't) I might not have been able to remember my gun- I was stunned and in pain and talking to paramedics as best I could. I am glad there was not a gun in a pack attached to the bike-- who knows where it would be now? I think this has shown me that I want to experiment with different ways to carry on the body-- I'll try that method first. As an aside- I am basically ok- lots of facial abrasions, one tooth gone (I was wearing a helmet- it helped) no broken bones, no stitches- I am very sore, but they have little pills that can help fix that! I'll go back to work Wednesday of next week. The accident was a relatively rare one- a piece of a tree limb somehow got wedged between my front tire and the bike frame, effectively bringing the front wheel to a sudden complete stop. I flew over the handlebars onto the street face first. Ouch!
  25. I got mine Tuesday. Paperwork November 14th, fingerprinting November 16th. My wife applied when I did-- she has not received hers yet. Go figger.
