Welcome. My wife and I both use 9mm glocks as our carry weapons.

Ninjas do get all the hot chicks. As soon as I started wearing black tights and ninja shoes to the mall and carrying more ammo, hot chicks flocked to me. I married one, so I don't have to carry as much now.

When bike riding and a dog attacks what can I do?
ZenDog replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
And, having been knocked unconscious a couple of times while bicycling, it is a good idea to carry ID, emergency contact info, and insurance info while cycling. I never thought it would happen but it did-- I have had two ambulance trips, two broken helmets.... having the ID and stuff makes it a lot easier for the paramedics and for the ER people. -
It took 6 days (counting Sunday, and believe me, I counted!!) from the day they said they issued mine until it arrived in my Memphis mailbox. YMMV.

The way I figure it, ammo quantity is a personal choice, kinda like everything else in life- to each his or her own. Make your best guess and deal with the results of your choice. None of us knows what tomorrow holds for us. How many rounds will you need tomorrow? Carry that many. I figure can make some mistakes no matter what I do- I can be wrong a lot of different ways. I can carry too much ammo or too little ammo. Kinda like auto insurance-- it is a gamble. I hope I never need any ammo at all! But, I would rather have too much than too little. I don't think too many people at the end of a gunfight look at their weapon and say "@#$%^. I only used 4 of my 17 rounds-- what a fool I am for carrying 13 too many rounds!" On the other hand.... I had too little auto insurance once before -- I was ignorant and just carried the minimum for uninsured motorist coverage. That worked great for 32 years. Then I got hit by an uninsured motorist and my medical costs overran my coverage--- that really sucked. Never again. I'd prefer to deal with the consequences of carrying a magazine I never use than to deal with the consequences of not carrying a magazine that I really need. But that's just my choice. I could be wrong.

1 extra 10 rd mag for the G26. For you Vols out there, that equates to 20 rounds total.

When bike riding and a dog attacks what can I do?

Dogs can be a real problem. I ride bikes a lot and I am the editor of my local bike club's newsletter, so I hear a lot of dog stories from other bicyclists, and I have several dog stories of my own. A friend of mine hit a dog, crashed, broke his pelvis, had to have surgery, and could not ride a bike for two years. That dog was not being aggressive, but playful. It darted from the side of the road and my friend (who was an expert rider) had no time to react and crashed. If the dog is aggressive and trying to attack, self defense is legal-- people often shoot aggressive dogs. If you are simply scared but the dog isn't really a threat (in a reasonable person's eyes / ie a jury) then I think shooting the animal would be overkill. But-- as in my friend's case, the greatest danger to cyclists from dogs is probably not the bite, but the potential injuries from crashing. Keeping them from getting in front of your front wheel is the best anti-crash strategy. Some folks advocate dismounting for aggressive dogs, holding the bike in between yourself and the animal as a barrier. There was a story a few years back about a bicyclist in Florida who was around 90 years old who saved a young biking woman from an attacking German Shepard- he dismounted and started whacking the dog with his bicycle, using the bike as a weapon. (He was a former Olympic cyclist, so he may have been kinda special). Or, you could re-invent the velo dog revolver!! From wikipedia.org: The Velo-Dog was a Pocket pistol, a small type of revolver originally created in France in the late 1800s as a defense for cyclists on their velocipedes, who were likely to be set upon by large and ferocious dogs. For the more humanitarian, there were cartridges loaded with spice or salt. Surviving examples vary considerably in appearance, but all have certain features in common. All have short barrels and fired a type of .22 cartridge that is similar in appearance to a .22 Long Rifle, but of considerably lower power; this is itself referred to as a velo-dog. The hammer is shrouded to avoid it snagging on clothing so the weapon is double action only. Another unusual feature is the lack of a Trigger guard and a trigger that folds into the body of the gun, when not in use. -
Welcome.

You can shoot frangible .223 at RangeUSA on Saturday nights (AR & Shotgun Night) if you want to practice with a .223 rifle on a short indoor range. Gotta buy all the .223 ammo from them when you shoot the AR there, I guess to make sure you don't sneak in some FMJ. As far as the possible AWB, I'll be picking up a plain and simple AK-47 pretty soon. Wife's getting me one for my birthday

"ORA director Charles Smith said if people can vote and serve in the military at age 18 they should be allowed to carry a concealed weapon." +1 on that- lower the HCP age to 18 or make the military/voting age 21.
