  1. Welcome.
  2. This is a good point. It sure can get complicated at times. It is more serious than choosing to obey a speed limit or not, or choosing not to tell the absolute truth in every way on your income tax returns... My wife and I are both in professions where if we get convicted of a felony we can lose our careers and our income. So, for example, if we were to illegally carry onto school property and were caught, arrested, charged, and convicted of a felony for carrying, bye-bye careers. On the other hand, if we don't carry onto school property and are unable to adequately defend ourselves one day we may be maimed or killed-- bye bye wife, life, career. Since school is where one of our careers is- it presents a daily moral/ethical/legal dilemma. Which risk is greater? To carry and risk prosecution, or to not carry and risk victimization? I guess it is a choice we all have to make daily. Then we and our loved ones live (or die) with the consequences of our choice.

Hi neighbor- welcome to TGO. What part of town y'all living in? I have used ammoman- no problems at all- free shipping, too, on most of their stuff. Another decent one is ammunitiontogo.com and there are a few others. I'm in the same boat with the local ranges- Rangemaster is much closer- I live near the U of Memphis. But RangeUSA is nicer and isn't clogged with classes as much as is Rangemaster. Get the permit asap- I did the class with my wife, too. It was a fun date. I am really glad she carries.
  5. Welcome.
  6. It is hard to have too much armament. But, I am a bicycle junkie, and I own 7 working bicycles- that isn't too many, yet, as far as I can tell!! Grain of salt time. I think a 30 rd magazine is great for home defense/property defense. You can miss a few times and still have enough left to take care of business. With multiple bad guys in a Katrina/looting scenario, more is better. Get a few extra mags, keep them loaded, and you can shoot a lot of zombies. I live close to Orange Mound/Whitehaven in Memphis, which are both tough, armed 'hoods. I consider it my duty as head of the household to think of this stuff- in a Katrina-type situation, lawlessness/looting might come my way after a few days. You can get 2 decent AK's for roughly the price of 1 decent AR. I like them both, I own them both. In a Katrina-like situation, I hope I have access to both platforms. My wife loves the AR due to the lack of recoil. She's kinda bony (I like 'em that way) and I think a weapon with a lot more recoil would be much more difficult for her to fire, or at least, to enjoy firing. When the zombies come, I want her to enjoy firing it. I like shooting Ar's, I hate cleaning them-- lotsa nooks and crannies. The .223 won't penetrate as well as a 7.62X39 - if you are shooting at cars that can make a big difference. Cancel cable, buy a smaller car, eat out less often, get a thermos instead of Starbuck's-- then you can buy more guns and more ammo more often.
  7. Not bad-- our state has the Women's National Champ and the Men's National Runner Up-- I thought we were supposed to be a football state? Oh yeah, that was long ago in a far distant galaxy.....

  14. I'll be watching the game tonight with 1,000 of my closest friends- they are setting up a game watching party at the Fieldhouse on the U of M campus with projection screens, etc. Should be a rush.

    Hi

    Welcome.
  20. Indiana State University (my grad school alma mater) lost only one game in 1979- it was the last game, the championship. Indiana State (and Larry Bird) lost to Michigan State (and Magic Johnson). It was still a great year, despite the disappointing loss.
  21. I think BATFE was having NSA monitor it for NFA stuff, so it had to be shut down. Comsec.
