Yep. The GP 100 is one of the better option's available for shooting .357 Magnum round's through for the first time. It, or a S&W N or L frame wheel gun are smart investment's to a functional firearm's collection.

I bought a PF9 and carried it as a BUG for a while with my only complaint being the small trigger guard. I gave it to my wife who is very pleased with it. In turn I purchased an Lc9 and LCP both of which have been good pistol's. FWIW I'm convinced many of the complaint's regarding the PF9 and P3AT are due to owner induced problem's rather than mechanical.

I've seen what a knife, P.38 can opener, broken bottle and flat blade screwdriver can do to a person. It's really ugly, lot's of blood, deep cut's and puncture wound's. A small caliber bullet does a lot more damage on the inside then folk's give them credit for, you should see how much cutting an emergency surgery does in these cases. The bottom line is you make do with what you've got and stay in the fight.

I've owned and shot a lot of different 9x19 mm pistol's and believe the G-19 & 26 were the better of the double stack's. From what I'm getting out of this you'd rather have the smaller XD as a compact in .40 S&W but the G-19 for round capacity and size as a home defense weapon. That way you get to have an XD & a Glock which doesn't sound like a bad ideal to me. Wait a bit and you might find someone that'd rather have your XD than they're G-19.

.380 vs .38+p........... ? which is more lethal ?
TNWNGR replied to SonnyCrockett's topic in Handguns
The one you have on you when the ballon goes up and you need it most is the most lethal and effective, so if your carrying the LCP because it's the least visable in your pocket it wins. Don't get caught up on caliber so much because the gun left at home instead of being on your person doesn't help anyone. -
Now you have something to plan on spending your tax return money on.

I got to handle one and was pleased with what I saw, it's a really nice pistol.

I have a custom Springer and it's a good pistol but after viewing and handling a Ruger SR1911 it would be my first choice if I purchased another 1911 clone.

I've owned and shot a KT P32 and P3AT as well as a PF9 (wife's gun now), all worked fine after a break in period. Then I bought an Lc9 and liked it so much that I bought an LCP, the LCP has become my pocket carry pistol of choice and is super nice. One other .380 ACP not mentioned yet that you should consider is the Berretta Tomcat, it's slightly thicker and larger than the LCP but it also has very good fixed sight's and a nice trigger pull. I was very suprised at how well it compaired to all of the newer pocket .380's that have come out these last few years.

I have to say that's a very German looking pistol, nice actually but H&K through and through.

Line up a couple of your friend's and go to the range with the P3AT, clean and lube it then run 100-200 round's through it. If any of them have a P3AT or Ruger LCP have them bring their magazines, mark each magazine with a grease pen and start shooting. This way you rule out the magazine and human side of the issue. If you do send it back to KT go ahead and spend the money to have the slide nickled, this help's a lot in the long run. You should end up with a decent pocket pistol because KT customer service is really good.

Sweet!!!

If nothing else look at an Uncle Mike pancake or belt slide style holster otherwise I'm clueless. Your right, these used to be all over the place but now....
-
That is a very nice S&W wheel gun, I like it.
-
If you've got the money and really want the .460 S&W than buy one and enjoy it. I'll stick with my Old Model Blackhawk in .45 Colt and cheer you on. In the end it's all about what the guy buying the gun want's because he's the one who decide's.

Military/LEO currently but you might be right about the Firefighter/EMT in the past. I'm a LEO and have never understood why Firefighters, EMT's and Paramedic's get excluded on some of the discount options.

I agree that penetration with a flat metplate is a positive but I’m not too sure about the rest of the information exchange here. Using +p 38 Special rounds in a S&W 442 is an invitation for handling and control issues while firing so standard velocity makes a lot of sense. Still, I’d be more comfortable with a decent HPB. Then there is the issue of a LE BUG or ODG with either issued or required ammunition so you have to learn to make the best of it. A lot of folks have gone with the Charter Arms, S&W J Frame or Ruger in 32 H&R magnum simply because of reduced recoil and good penetration. The OP has done his range work and research to present a good case. I’d probably try different grips or go with a different front pocket BUG.

Wow. All this in next to no time and all over a small facility for Colt in FL. Having Colt go to FL at all and create job's is a big deal and a move in the right direction. It would please me to no end to see Colt, S&W and other's come to the S.E. US and set up casting and CNC facilities.

Good for you. Everyone should own and shoot at least one good quality 1911 format pistol so that they know how to run one. Beside's they're fun to shoot and you have selected a good one, enjoy it.
-
The SP-101 is a really good ideal for Ruger and should do really well for the company. It's one of those gun's that make's a lot of sense to have.
-
The Glock 30 is still the same thickness of the G-21 but lot's of folk's love it. If you've got the money and want to go that route then give it a try.
-
I've shot Glocks for year's and dealt with the grip angle but you make a good point...the Gen 4 grip does feel better in the G17/22, just like it does with the G-26/27.
-
graycrait, while u-tube and the like make gun tinkering easier now than in the past I wouldn't go any further than field stripping a 22 pistol. Even then I have to completly disengage my mind to get it back together, some folk's just have the knack, I don't.

Gen4 G-27 here and it's a better feeling pistol than my Gen 2 G-27 with no problem's at all in over a year of shooting. I would have no problem's with owning another Gen 4 Glock.
