I owned a Colt Officer's Model 45 ACP for a few years, bought it when they first came out in the mid 1980's. In retrospect I should have kept it but since I also had a Combat Commander (later stolen) and a couple of other 1911's I let it go. My then reasoning was I didn't like the weight and the recoil, HA! It was a good pistol that grouped well and feed the cast bullets and hollow points I ran through it. I guess what I'm trying to say in a long winded way is the concept and application worked just fine, but FWIW it was a better set up with a Commender slide on it.

I've had good result's with Taurus, S&W, KelTec and Colt on customer service. RCBS and Dillon have been outstanding in every way.

It's a great looking pistol that is more like something out of a science fiction movie than the real deal. The only thing's stopping you from buying one are avalibility and you, so if you really want one than buy it. There are lot's of pistols and rifles that are uber cool but most of us will never purchase because of other priorities or things we'd rather have. For me the FN Five seveN is one of the pistol's I like but choose not to buy. You though are one of thoses who want the fifty-7 so get one and have fun with it because you can.

It's been refinished but whoever did the work was really good and you now have a fine Colt Combat Commander.

It depends on the platform, with an AR15/M4 I prefer to have as many as possible because they can get buggered up so easily. Primary carry pistol's should have at least three but six to twelve is better so that you can rotate them, other pistol's three to five mags suit my needs. One thing that I do though is when a mag fails is toss and replace it, I don't want to waist my time trying to rebuild it or try to use it by mistake.

I have a Ruger SR22 and it's fed everything I've put in the mag to shoot though it. Stuff like CB longs will feed and shoot just fine, they just won't cycle the action to eject. Standard and Hi velocity round's all run through it and its a breeze to tear down, clean and put back together again. It's also very reasonably priced as well. The rear sight is adjustable and the DA/SA trigger is pretty good, I'm afraid that if my wife ever shoot's it then she'll claim it.

Going with the 9mm is more of a non issue now than it once was but actual platform’s is every bit as emotional as in years past. What feels right to you and is in your price range should be the deciding factor. Overall it all comes down to apples and oranges

There should be another proof mark on either the frame or cylinder of your Colt, but most likely it was exported to Germany and purchased at a base exchange by a serviceman. I have a Series 70 Colt Gov't Model that returned to the US this way and have seen CZ 75, Browning and other firearms with proof marks. The nickled Python has more collector's value than the blued so I suggest you keep both.

If you were going to purchase a really awfull pistol I'd try to change your mind but the CW45 and CW9 are pretty nice pistol's. I have a friend who purchased a CW9 and he love's it, he stopped carrying his P3AT and PF9 after he'd had the CW9 for a while.

They feel very different due to the skinny grip, I would have liked the grip to be a tab bit more thick but still liked it.

This has been a really good thread with lot's of good idea's. No one mentioned the Taurus PLY 22 which is a flip up barrel pistol in the $200.00 range. This little gem has a really nice trigger that does not have a heavy pull. Don't rule out a 22 LR semi auto rifle like the Ruger 10-22 or Marlin 795 either for in the house.

More than anythin else it depend's on what your wife think's about the P-11 because Kel Tech will get it repaired and return it fairly quickly.

If you want a pistol with a high capacity 15 round count that’s still in the size range of a 9mm pistol you have the 40 S&W. Another reason is the .40 S&W ball round will penetrate and create a larger wound cavity than 9 mm ball. Of course that would only matter if you either a. had no access to HP ammo or b. were in a location where HP ammo was forbidden.

It sound's like a fair price to me given the Apex part's and all so enjoy what you've got and go to the range.

I have a pre-crossbolt safety model 1894 Marlin in 357 Magnum and have found it to one of the best used gun buy's I've made. If I ever find another older Marlin in 44 magnum w/o the crossbolt safety that is priced within my means I'll purchase it as well. The Henry rifle's I've seen so far have been 22 LR and looked great.

Had the chance to handle one of the new S&W Shield's at TN Gun Country this afternoon and really liked it. Fit and finish were excellent, sights are very visable, grip is so thin it is amazing. Now as to the trigger pull, it doesn't feel like an M&P, instead it is very light and almost crisp, I couldn't say whether it has enough take up slack in it to be noticable. Compaired to my Ruger Lc9 it feel's thinner and has a nicer trigger. S&W might have a money maker here.

Unique would be the most descriptive assessment of graycraits current project.

The SR22 is a fairly rugged 22 LR pistol, mine already has about 1k round's through it w/o any problem's. I was more concerned with the frame rail's than the alloy slide but its a really tight pistol. I believe the type of 22LR ammo your run through one of these would have more to do with service life than anything else. I'm content with standard velocity for most everything but use Hy-Vel ammo on occassion. More than anything else this is a field and plinking pistol so I'm not really clear on the concern of how many round's until failure.

Other folk's would, you'd be suprised at some of the type's of gun's that get carried by folk's. Not to mention how many different gun's some try to carry at the same time. Messenger bag's, book bag's and back pack's can have a lot of "stuf" stuffed inside of them. BTW, I had a Redhawk that was near the same as your's, it just had the removable clamp on scope ring's. Wish I'd kept it.

That's how you bring in new customer's. I'm pleased to see Remington Firearm's remembered to get back to the basic's.

And now we know why S&W dropped the SW9 & SW40, this will probably be a much better selling platform. It's got HCP and CCP friendly all over it and will make some inroads in other gun companies market place. Now if only Glock would pull their collective head out of the sand and also come out with a single stack, thin, 9mm or 40 S&W as well.
-
Yep. Mine really suprised me by feeding everything every time, that's what i like to see a pistol do.
-
That's a really nice Colt, great condition, I'd love to get deeper into collecting Colt revolver's.

I've been pleased with the Ruger SR22 I purchased a couple of week's ago because it's run like a champ with mixed 22LR. No feed or ejection problems at all and it come's with two magazines. The rear sight is adjustable and both front and rear sights are very visable along with having a good sight radius. It's a DA/SA design with a managable but heavy DA pull followed by a very light SA pull with a fair amount of take up. For the price it's amazing and also pretty accurate as well, overall a nice field and plinking gun that would do well on a trap line too.
