TN DL information's correct. If your not driving a MV while here in TN then lack of a TN DL is an inconvenience, if your driving one here its going to cost you some court time and money. Active duty military and students living in college dorms are the exceptions to the 30 day residency statutes.

golfnfish, I shot a few Security Sixes but never bought one, I was to wrapped up in all thing's S&W at the time. Sadly the same applied to the super nice Speed Sixes, I'll rectify that some day though. BTW that's a great picture.

Best in a SA pistol was a Colt Series 70 Combat Commander some a**h*** stole from me. Worst a 9mm P Series 70 GM I foolishly had converted to .45ACP.
-
I like it and even see its purpose in firearms competition and wouldn't turn down an opportunity to shoot one. Bit that aside I probably won't seriously consider purchasing one but kudos and congrats to you on getting one for yourself.

Just as an aside notion, given the questionable reliability of the magazines, couldn't you borrow a couple from someone else? FIW I've seen guns sold and traded due to unreliability issues. Then the new owner used new or different magazines or a different ammunition make and the problems were gone.

Concur, have owned several 4x4's from a CJ2A to an F-150, all were set up as primary on road vehicles with good ground clearance. Am currently weighing options on another used F150 standard cab if I find the right deal.
-
How many different magazines have you tried in it and did it choke on all of them?
-
Base your approach on whatever the vehicle you are driving is, not the off road hunting/mudding 4x4 at home is as that one won't help you if your not near it or in it. With that approach everything in every vehicle to keep it running and get you home either by driving or walking. The big truck? Unless you've got a secure place to go to where is it going to get you too? In and of itself 4x4 trucks and such aren't always the sole solution to a problem.

Basic needs stuff, food, water, medications and fuel are the constant basics. If your going to self quarantine then enough for those needs. A full scale pandemic with societal breakdown comes down to a community or village support based best case for success. Fully encapsulated suits are more geared towards first responders as a full decon before, during and after removal is proscribed. In that case I'd only trust self contained breathing apparatus units. Yeah. I've done this stuff before so if it gets bad avoid public places, even better stay home until its over. The reality of all of this is your basic disaster preps are the best baseline.

Those who like the G-42 will find means of proving its utility. Those who don't like it will find means of proving its limitations. Me? I think its a tad bit oversized for a contemporary .380 ACP but that very criticism is a plus for someone who likes a larger pistol. I don't really like the 380 ACP cartridge in comparison with the 9mm P or 38 Special but it fills a need. My LCP's not my favorite pistol but its the one that's always with me. With this compromise I made certain I can make the tool work for the user. How? I don't concern myself with its bark or bite and just use it. If you focus on the actual use and don't try to turn a defensive pocket pistol into a frequent shooter its far more comfortable. For training purposes I use an SR-22 in conjunction with the LCP. The same principle works with a G-26 or S&W M&P 22 coupled with the G-42. Think outside the box in training as well as daily survival and diversify so you don't stagnate.

MM got it first try. The initial runs were ammunition sensitive with specific "don't shoot these" recommendations. With standard velocity LR the PT-22 I had did rather well. I've got a Ruger SR-22 but plan on picking up a Taurus PLY 22 whenever I get around to it for a GBH truck bag.

Here's the closest your going to get for now and its a top quality pistol too... http://www.taurususa.com/product-details.cfm?id=695&category=Pistol

Mech...aside from the finish, which you've already addressed, the only issues I've heard of involving the Argentinian P-35's are magazine incompatibility. At one time Browning Hi-Power replacement magazines wouldn't work in the Argentine contract pistols, the magazines side notch was cut differently. It was a pretty simple fix for a gunsmith or savvy shooter.

LOL. I hear you and agree too. The bottom line being its not enough of a step up from the 38 Special or step down from the 357 Magnum to really matter insofar as a carry gun goes. There's really far to many variables so aside from novelty or having a 9mm revolver to supplement ones 9mm pistol its a non issue to me. Still though I'll seriously look at one, just as I've done with the LCR in 38 and 357 but then I never purchased either of them. Will it be a good gun? I think it will but how it sells is another story.

Patton insofar as speedier reloads go you're correct full moon clips are where its at, provided said FMC are properly constructed. Ruger will very likely overbuild theirs so that flexing doesn't dislodge rounds or the entire clip bend rendering it useless. Still I spent many years carrying a J or K Frame S&W with an extra speed loader in a jacket pocket and speed strip (or two) in my pants pocket. I'd gladly carry a FMC in a jacket pocket but pass on a pants pocket. Simple solutions for carrying FMC in speed loader pouches render this a non issue though.

The 442 J-frame is hard to beat but eve better when coupled with a M-36 or M-60.

Runco I've not been to the range in question but have to wonder doesn't it have rental firearms for its patrons? Also, don't forget rifles, SG's and accessories sales aren't limited by state lines. The other thing to factor in insofar as HG sales are concerned think 50, 100 to 150 Mile radius of customers willing to travel for a range, sale or deal.

My BHP's a 74/75 vintage and was the first center fire pistol I purchased. I owned and traded off a half a dozen others along the way with mixed feelings about the entire design. Bottom line its a classic pistol of reasonable accuracy with a bit of eccentricity in what feeds and shoots well in it. By all means find the one you want and hopefully hang on to.
-
Yep and that's been pretty consistent for a number of years now, sort of taking advantage of a captive market. BTW I agree with your view of having a 9mm P revolver if all of your pistols are 9mm P. That in a nutshell has always been the appeal of a 9mm P wheel gun, its just not played out well long term yet. Only time and unweaning public interest will tell this story.

Bud's is pretty common knowledge, just like J&G Sales and others. I'd think that an instate gun store purchase at a brick and mortar store is going to involve sales tax. If the TN store does in state transactions with TN residents then sales tax is going to take place. Otherwise you can look forward to a news story on the matter. As to the location of the new store, particularly with a firing range involved I see it as profitable. Someone did their homework on that location.

The S&W 442 is always a good choice but I'd suggest you supplement it with a well worn M-36 or 640 as you'll add years to the life span of the Airweight in doing so. FWIW one of my favorite J Frame set up's has always been a bobbed hammer M-36.
-
Agreed. The full moon clips could be a real plus or negative dependent upon overall QC at the factory.
-
Necked up from a bottleneck round and still a bit of taper in the case, it's always been a hot round, just limited by developing projectile technology.

I like the LCR and consider it the most innovative revolver in decades. Pragmatically I don't see the 9mm P as being a better ROI that the .357 Magnum model. Personally though if I ever have an opportunity to shoot one of the 9mm models I'm afraid I'll start wanting one.
