  1. That was prudent. From what I've read current model HP magazines are a bit better then earlier ones. I also agree on not purchasing after market magazines for the HP.
  2. My thoughts on this "hot coffee" nonsense are the case needs to be taken to court and vigorously defended with full public disclosure of what happened along with the persons name suing them. Throw in full information and available pasts histories and litigations originated by the person suing them as well as the attorneys representing said subject. The public embarrassment episodes might take a bit to take off in social media and with comedians but should prove interesting.
  3. Hmm. The vehicle being towed indicates that whatever the driver was charged with didn't fall under misdemeanor citation criteria or someone had some outstanding warrants. Of course to be fair minded and non cynical I could presuppose someone was having mechanical problems and a kind Trooper called a wrecker for them...or not.
  4. Yep. Need to discuss this with an attorney versed in firearms law. But what it sound's like is he went in for a psych evaluation and kicked lose afterwards. IOW an involuntary committal so he's probably going to come out of the firearms portion of this alright. The rest is going to take a while to sort out and's going to take a lot of family love and support.
  5. Hmm. I figured it'd end with a lesser plea or conviction. Now what'd be interesting to know is was the defendant declared indigent and provided a Court Appointed Attorney or Public Defender? Or did he have to come up with the attorney fee's himself. If he paid all of the fees himself then he didn't get off as easy as it looks at face value. I also wonder whether he's been directed to pay restitution fees to the person he shot? Lesson's learned? Pull over and call 911, report everything you can and hope someone else isn't injured. Pretty sad state of affairs al in all I'd say.
  6. FWIW I never had a Ruger Bolt action rifle that was bad and don't think you'd have a problem selling one you wanted to get rid of later.
  7. If the surgeries and subsequent medical treatment were and are being done in Brazil then you most certainly are receiving top quality care. Here's hoping for a speedy recovery for you and a return trip home in as timely a manner as possible.
  8. Always nice to read something positive about an unknown gun shop so I can add it to my "should visit" when in the area list.
  9. Actually it might not be the guns fault. Thing's I noticed with the PF-9 I once owned were if I inadvertently applied pressure to the magazine baseplate it could adversely affect feed. The magazine release button was also easy to bump which would unseat the magazine enough to affect feed.   Mine had a distinct break in period where after running about 150 rounds through it things smoothed out but I still had to consciously focus on hand and grip placement. If you visit one of the K-T Forums you'll read about "fluff & buff's" but your pistol being newer shouldn't really need that.    One thing I learned with the K-T PF-9 was the Pierce base plate adapters and my hands weren't a good thing. Learning your gun is very important. Recognizing when there's a particular gun you can't make work for you is equally important. Its all about experience and experimentation. Best of luck to you.
  10. Yep. That form of humor is just what attornies look for and they pay folks to do social media research to find it. It's been used in police disciplinary actions and in prosecuting other folks. As to shooting a carjacker... I believe in the concept of defense of life...mine or another's. Use of Force or Lethel Force is fluid and dynamic so predicting the future outcomes is iffy. Do train and pay for professional training as well as mental prepairedness and when under arms curb your words.
  11. Now I'll have nightmares tonight after seeing that hideous looking Pistol LOL...aside from a little TLC it should provide you with good service. You could do far worse for a truck or fishing gun as you've defined yours. As to the cost with everything you received in the deal I think you did ok. Enjoy it and shoot the bejesus out of it because I don't think you'll break it.
  12. Concur on this being a well written article and I still own my first BHP purchased circa 1975 while woefully regretting not keeping others I owned. It's a surprisingly pleasant pistol platform to work with but I steered well clear of that particular hammer design as well as having my own HP hammer's bobbed. In the HP pistol's I owned I largely used hard cast lead or jacketed rounds and fondly recall experimenting with some of the early Super-Vel loadings with mixed results.
  13. The attached link is to a surprisingly well written and even more so objective article from a liberal bastion media source...I think it sums up what former police supervisors such as EssOne and myself are trying to bring forth.   http://www.latimes.com/nation/la-na-baltimore-legal-strategy-20150502-story.html#page=1
  14. Which is what most concerns me in this prosecution. If she has/had a remotely solid case on one or more of the defendants then her actions have weakened the chances of conviction. Make no mistake if an officer involved in this mess had actionable criminal charges then I'm solidly behind due process and letter of the law. As has been said what remains to be seen is what evidentiary material has yet to be released.
  15. Really good video, concise and covered what was needed to make an informed decision. It looks like the company's putting it all on the table and I'm impressed.
  16. There is existent case law for good faith arrests and resisting halt stop frisk. Intent is the bottom line on such findings.  Not sure which way the Baltimore case is going to go but I'm doubtful of any 2nd Degree Homicide cases sticking. It'll depend on what non disclosed information is on hand. I'm really doubtful of the entire investigation and rapidity of charging the officers. Then factor in the dog and pony press release and what was said. The State losing this  case in court will do more harm and create more civil unrest. I just wonder if a sweetheart cop a plea deal on a weak case will be accepted. Unless it can be proven intentional harm was inflicted during the transport I'm not seeing much, if any of a civil rights case either.
  17. My understanding as well. If the house had any known issues such as paint, fuse box, water heater or electrical outlets then that was going to cut into your profit. It sounds like the decision to take the Investment Groups offer decision you've made won't cost you any unexpected money.
  18. Interesting revolver, have read about them a lot over the last few years, just never had a desire to own one. Now shooting one someone else owns would be an entirely different matter! Hope you continue to enjoy the new acquisition.
  19.  :hat:
  20. I've seen several trees of that like but not that many larger in girth which is rather unfortunate.
  21. Good topic, have yet to see a church with a gun buster sign up but have encountered a mix of pro gun anti gun clergy.
  22. My thoughts as well, it going to be a real dog and pony show in another venue I expect. Rushed and sloppy prosecutions generally become public spectacles.
  23. Oh no doubt deals are going to be offered and more will come to light. Charging everyone involved is not going to strengthen the case or expedite prosecution. It's looking like a "show trial" in the works.
  24. Yes I agree. I see a lot of acquittals coming out of this and a politically ruined State DA. Your also right in the DOJ will pursue Civil Rights Violations at that point. The departmental restructuring is a given as well as the Mayor's future being in question.
  25. No. I got your point but just wanted to point out that until finding were in or charges set forth everything was speculative. Suspicious as hell but speculative. I'm always appreciative when the facts, wart's and all, come out in an investigation of wrong doing. Now let's wait and see what happens in a court because my suspicions are this investigation was rushed. That could significantly affect prosecution.   BTW I couldn't agree more about the need for scrupulous internal policing and adherence to corrective disciplinary practices and were necessary terminations of employment. Not doing so creates way to many problems and litigation.
